Who here has been to DOLLYWOOD?

I was just in Gatlinburg in June. Had a great time but did not make it to Dollywood. We were busy with my sister's wedding and we were only there for the weekend.

If you want to make a nice vacation of it, rent one of the chalets in the area. They are great!!! And they have great views of the Smoky Mountains.

We are actually leaving tomorrow morning for a quick trip to Dollywood and the vicinity. We have Season Passes. We love Dollywood, but like others have said, its definately not Disney. Christmas is definately my favorite time to visit. I love seeing all the shows and driving out to see the lights. The shopping isn't so shabby either. Can't wait to visit the Scrapbook SuperStore. YAY! :)

We live about 45 minutes from Dollywood and have been there a few times as well as Splash Country - I actually won tickets there through our local radio station in July.

There are TONS of hotels around Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, and almost 90% are excellent. There seems to be a new hotel that goes up every year!!

There are plenty of shopping centers, and other things to do as well, especially in Gatlinburg - we love to go to the aquarium!!

You may want to look at www.pigeonforge.com for information about the area.

I think the closest airport would be McGhee Tyson in Knoxville - it is about an hour to hour and a half drive from there if you use the main roads.

Happy to answer any more questions if you have any.

Hi, we went to Dollywood 2yrs ago....I liked it, but it wasnt as big as what I was expecting..My daughter and neice had a great time. (both were 8 at the time)...If you have the time and can drive to Ashville( its a few hrs from Gatlinburg),,,,go and see the Builtmoore estate. It is beautiful. It is expensive to tour, but I felt it was worth it....Even my daughter and niece loved it..And I had dreaded taking them, cause I figured they would be bored the whole day...but my daughter taked about it for a long time----she wants to live there!!! LOL
Have fun !!!!! :D

Dollywood is nice theme park. It's laid out in a rather random way - not a spoked hub like the MK. There are several thousand hotel rooms in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville. Rooms are more expensive on the weekends and very expensive in October (The fall colors of the Smoky Mountains National Park bring in lots of people. 9,316,420 people visited the National Park last year making it the most visited, and it’s only 20 minutes from Dollywood.)

You can fly into Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS). It is served my Delta, US Air (express), American (Eagle), Continental, United Express, Comair, and Northwest.

It really only takes about 45 minutes from the airport. PM me for directions. (I used to work at Dollywood in the summer while working on my Master’s Degree.)

I think you'll like Dollywood and the surrounding area. Best time ti visit is in the fall. Not only are the colors great but it's not nearly as hot.

Have a great time! :D

It would take a lot to convince me to go back, Faith.:) We didn't have a bad time, but even my kids haven't talked excitedly about our last trip to Dollywood. They need to bring in more rides.:)
