I have noticed there are many Disney Vets here (thank goodness for all the info and advice). Some get to go often! How many haven't visited WDW in a long time? It has been 8 years for us. Isn't the anticipation a killer? For those that go pretty often do you suffer from anticipation anxiety?

You're right Barbara - the anticipation is definitely a killer!!! It's been close to 3 years for us, we've only been once - but now that I have my room ressies for next year all I can think are Disney thoughts!!! Can't wait!!! You'll be there soon!;)

We don't get to go often.

It's been 4 years since my last trip, and the only reason we get to go this year is because a scheduled conference fell apart and we had the dates open. Trip before last was 12 years ago. And yes, the anticipation is killing me!

We haven't been able to go since 1998... I had my first son in 1999, then got prego the next year again, 2nd son in 2001. Now we really wanted to wait until our 2nd son was at least 2½. I have been going through withdrawal for a long time now.

For those that go pretty often do you suffer from anticipation anxiety?

As you can tell by my countdown clock, we're leaving for Disney in a couple of hours.

I can say that we don't suffer from anticipation anxiety. I'm excited right now (I'm packing and viewing the disboards at the same time), but that's because we're planning some new things for this trip.

One thing that we have always done is this.. when we arrive home from a Disney trip, we immediately make plans for our next visit. Right now, we have ressies all the way up through 1/2004.

I once started a thread and asked how many FL residents take advantage of our good fortune (meaning living so close to WDW) and many said they do. I know for sure that we wouldn't be going every 6 to 12 weeks if we didn't live down here.

I have gone many many times in the last 8 years but each time I am as excited as I was for my second trip.

On my first trip to WDW my sister planned it for our families. I did not want to go. I didn't understand the Disney magic.

Well when I got up that first morning and walked outside at CBR and there was a hot air balloon floating over I was won over. It hasn't been the same since. :) We have had many great trips and I still haven't seen and done it all.

It's been over 10 years since my last and only time to WDW. I always wanted to go and got the chance back then. Haven't been able to get back for a number a reasons but I'm finally getting to go again. Takeing my DS10 on his first trip to WDW and I don't know who is more excited. He's been to DL so he's got the magic!!!
Will Sept. ever get here!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

If I could I would go every year. Expense is an issue. But I don't think it is the main reason, just an excuse. My DH doesn't put a costly vacation high on the priority list. It would be #1 on mine. He thinks one night/one day a Hershey Park is satisfactory for our family. My DH has a short attention span when it comes to heat, lines, crowds, beaches, pools, etc. He is content sitting alone with the A/C on. We are going because I inherited money and it is MY pick to spend $$$ on a WDW trip and he is out number by 5 to 1. Does anyone else have a family member not into WDW or vacations in general?

My late husband did not like to take vacations. When we went to the beach he just stayed in the room or apt. for the week. People would joke that they had a Fran sighting.

But that was OK because he came on the vacation and did something he didn't want to do because he knew his wife and kids wanted to be there.

It wasn't until after he died that I took my kids to Disney World. I can still see the looks on their faces when we went to the parks. It was the best thing I could do to help them deal with the loss of their father.

Barb,
You mean that there are people that do not go to WDW all the time? lol

Over the last few years, my DW and I are frequest guests, I get excited every time we plan a trip. We do not have children, so it is just her and I. We both have anticipation anxiety.

I have to admit, there is something about walking down Main Street USA and just forgetting about all the troubles in the world. That is what I look forward to this July, forgetting about all of the troubles and issues that life has thrown at my DW and I.

I hope you enjoy WDW on your trip

I'm right there with you, dcg! It's been ten long years for me, and I couldn't possibly be more excited if you paid me! I see you'll be at WDW right around the same time as DF and and I -- hope to see you there with your lime green ribbon! ;-)

I didn't go for 8 years, after my babies were born. I went for one last "fling" while I was 5 months pregnant with #1. We live 16 hours away and I hate to fly. I am not one of those women that thought I could have fun even with a nursing newborn along! So we waited. Now that I look back on it, I am not sure HOW I made it that long!

Now we have DVC and will plan on 2 visits a year. My husband's eyes are beginning to glaze over; he says he can never keep track of which trip I am talking about. Thank goodness he likes to drive, and thank goodness for these Boards -- this is a safe forum for my obsession!

If you don't go for a while, I think the magic is inside you somewhere, waiting. It will be there when you make your eventual return!

Me!!!! I haven't been since NOV (to the parks) and won't be going back until NOV!!! DH and I did an overnight anniversary trip at CSR in March. It was wonderful. went to DTD, went swimming , ate at Ohana.....

Right now my niece (14) and three of her friends are at Universal and staying in there own room at the Portifino Bay!!! Parents in another room, of course.

Our last vist was November of 2000. It is my wifes and my fourth trip the first one was in 1987, the third with our son. We don't go as often as I wish.

Our next trip is August of 2004. We are doing the 3 night land/4 night sea with two extra nights tacked on at the front.

It is not easy waiting/anticipating, 452 days to go. But whose counting:D

Hi,

Please don't laugh. I haven't been to WDW in 23 yrs since I was 6. However, as some of you might have already read, I am trying to put a solo trip together for myself Dec 26 to Jan 3 and had everything set, but now have come down with a really bad respitory infection, very bad bronchitis and got really dehydrated from being sick not being able to keep food down :( . I am trying to keep my plans afloat and will probably have to change my plans from staying at the Swan to staying at CBR, CSR or a value (AS-Sports) to compensate for the money I will have to spend now on my doctors bills :(. I should still beable to go, but I am disipointed that I won't beable to stay in a Club level room at the Swan. However, as most of you have said, how much time am i really going to spend in my room anyways.

Thanks,

My dh is not really into vacations either. While he was at WDW in 2001 he had a great time and even discussed what we would do on the next trip. When we got back he then changed his tune. When I started wanting to plan another WDW trip he thought I was crazy. He calls WDW manufactured fun. He told me that he'll go for our boys, but doesn't understand why any adult would want to spend anytime there if they didn't have children. Well, I booked the FTP a few weeks ago and then informed him of the trip. What sent him over the top was the 7 nights. We have never gone on a vacation longer than 4 nights and he even feels that is one night too long. I pay for our vacations with my home-based business. So, money isn't an issue with him, but length of vacation is. He wasn't completely thrilled, but he's coming around. He told me he was going to plan the next trip and let me see how it feels. I told him great because I love to travel. I'd love for him to plan a trip anywhere. Except for waking up early on the last trip, he had a great time. You would have never known he didn't really want to be there. Once he gets there he has fun. It's just getting him anywhere that is the real chore and he never gets excited about anything. He thinks I'm completely crazy.

Find a female pal with kids and LEAVE DH HOME! One of the best trip I remember as a kid was one that my sister and Mom and I took with her pal Barbara and Barbara's two boys. We were all between 10 and 18 and we had a BALL. Lots of arguing, eating and general mayhem but loads of fun. We stayed in a Ft. Wilderness Cabin. My Dad had just had too much Mickey and Barbara's dh ran a business and rarely took time off. Our little group of 6 had so much fun... I still laugh at the memories.

DH has a conference next June in Orlando, unfortunately not onsite but at the Marriott World, so close. I am trying to lure my pal Tammie down with her kids so I have someone to play with until dh is "back in the action." I say if you are paying for the vacation, tell dh "No partypoopers allowed!"

It's been five months! Feel my pain!

Seriously we did have a seven-year gap when our children are young. You might say "What were you thinking? What better time to go?" and I would have no reply. I guess the stress of being older parents (grandparents too old to help) and living on one income made it hard to plan vacations, esp when even a day trip seemed to be a logistical nightmare.

We've now made a commitment to go once a year, whether we can afford it or not, and that works much better for us than planning a single "special" vacation.

Believe it or not...I haven't been to WDW since 1981. My family and I will be traveling this Sept 2003. What a awakening that will be.:Pinkbounc My husband, daughter 8 and son 2 will be first timers..we are so excited and can't wait..:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Pre-trip anticipation anxiety is soooo much better than post trip depression! The only cure for the post trip let down is to plan another trip as you can see from some peoples numerous trip counters.
It also helps to have some other nut near you with the same addiction and you can share the pre-trip magic with. Hi Dar! :D
