Who has used Tour Guide Mike?

What did you think? Was it worth it?
Thanks!

It was worth it to me, I rejoined for my December trip. We waited in no lines at all. I adjusted our touring according to his recommendations of best days. It was really pretty amazing. At MK we'd walk down nearly empty streets and walk onto everything we wanted to.

I did not find it to be very useful. I think part of the problem is that there is a lot of information there, and the site is not the most intuitive to use. You really need time to find your way around and to find all the information you need. I purchased the membership 4 days before our trip and did not have enough time to fish around and find all the information I think I needed. My advice is to make sure you have plenty of time to look around the site. there is a lot there, but it can take some time to find it.
One very positive is that I did complain about not being happy and they very quickly credited my credit card.

It is ok. Some of the info was useful, but I found alot of it to be common sense. I used it for one of my trips and it was helpful in some regards, but I didn't use it on our most recent trip and we did just as well. We were still able to do everything we wanted to do and hardly waited in any lines.
I definitely agree that you should only get it if you have lots of time before your trip. You'll need a couple weeks to get through everything on the site.

His advice for 'best day parks' was pretty accurate for our May 6 to 13th trip. His AK stuff was out of date or I just couldn't find EE advice on his website. I agree with an earlier post that the site is hard to navigate.

Because I feel so much pressure to do everything at WDW I tried to follow his touring plans. My DH really disliked the 'go here go there' aspect of the plans. The kids were not happy with it either. With a family that has all members wanting to exerience everything, we didn't have a person to run to get fastpasses so that presented a difficulty. But I think we would have these complaints about any touring plan. The kids had more fun (and were more fun)when I let go of the plans and just did what we wanted to when we wanted to.

That said we rode Soarin, saw Turtle Talk, rode EE and the other major attractions without waits.

I will TGM again just for the best park days info.

I ordered Tour Guide Mike for our trip last week out of curiousity. We go often so it really didn't help us any. I think for people going for the first time it would be useful. As said by a previous poster, there is a lot of info on that site so give yourself plenty of time to get acquainted with the site

Thanks for the information. Nice to hear from people that have used it. This isn't our first trip to Disney and we have plenty of time so don't need to really go crazy with scheduling and it is just the two of us. We don't have kids. I think we may go without this time. If I change my mind I will make sure I do it in enough time. We are going Dec 10-16.
Thanks again everyone!

I subscribed for our upcoming Aug trip. I am really looking forward to using his advice. I think that his best days suggestions are worthit alone but I alson love the "why" of his rationale to help you make you r own decisions when you are there. Oh also, he has little secrets for best ways to get places and best places to sit.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Will TGM take into account "special events" when it suggests the best days to attend the parks? Such as Gay Days or SW weekends?

I agree to the post above. I think its useful for first timers, but I have been way too many times to actually make a lot of use with the info. To me all of it is pretty common sense. I just purchased it for our trip in August, that I was starting a preliminary schedule for, and it matched the 'best day parks'.

Yes he does. Unlike guide books which give a general suggestion on which parks to avoid on certain days TGM tells you specifically which park to visit on each calendar day. He puts on this information as the park hours and schedules become available. he just listed the November days recently.

i would like to know about the special events too. im going to sing up probably today since i have to make my adrs by 06-02. That way i have time to check out the site. I will let you know how i like it.

Thanks a ton Maxie! Will need to check it out then, as I could use all the help I can get with planning.

I like Mike.

He has a slightly different perspective than the guide books. Sometimes I think he has an inside line to happenings at WDW from his cast member days.

Fundamentally, his strong suit is the planning. Where to go when, what to see and in what order, but it allows you to tailor your trip to you as opposed to The Unofficial Guide which is typically more regimented.

The site is a little slow undating to the latest news and rumors, but it makes up for it in the analysis of how that will impact your which park on which days.

Its a fun site.

We used TGM for our trip just gone late April/May and his advice was spot on. We're going back for the busiest week of the year between Christmas and New Year and I would never have even contemplated this without Mikes help :cool1:

I would recommend if you are a first-time visitor and/or going at a busy time AND if you are going to spend the time to really research the web site.

Can anyone tell me the cost? Is it a set fee to use the site for a specified amount of time?
Thanks!

I am still not sure about this. Thanks for all the feedback.
Would you guys consider the time period, Dec 10-16 a busy time enough to maybe use this even if we have been before?
Thanks.

I think it's around $18 (with the $3 discount above) AND, there's a money back guarantee! How can anyone go wrong with that?

I signed up in January for my July trip and at the beginning I was a bit confused because of the tremendous amount of information there is! Not everything on his site is "common sense".

Every ride is explained, best seats, best way to get to places, best days and times! Yes, you do need time to sort through all the info but (IMHO) it is worth it! The site does allow you to save each "article" you will need for planning. Within a couple of weeks, I navigated easily.

I don't think you can beat that!

I have subscribed, but am waiting for my trip to put the ideas into action. There is a lot of information, but I don't find the site difficult to navigate. If you subscribe well in advance of your trip and have time to use the site to plan I think you will find it to be worthwhile.
