My husband is a meat and potatoes man. He won't eat anything with onions or mushrooms or anything else that makes a dish worth eating it seems. I just tried sitting down with him at allearsnet.com to check out the menus to try and find restaurants that he would eat at while in WDW. I started with Epcot because that's the park we'll be in the day of his B-day. I tried Le Cellier, Rose & Crown Pub, Coral Reef (but he won't eat seafood either and it's MY favorite), Garden Grill and Biergarten (Keep in mind, he's laying on the bed, rolling his eyes while I read of the menu items and their descriptions. He's TOTALLY uninterested.). He asked about BBQ. He's a central NC boy and prefers the vinegar based sauce over the tomato based. Is there anywhere in the World he can find good pork BBQ??? It's ok if it's not in Epcot. Also, I'm going to be asking a lot of "restaurant/food" questions trying to prepare for our trip. Because of my husbands pickyness this will be the hardest part of my trip to plan! Thanks! :listen:

The steak at Coral Reef is amazing.... My DD10 and I can't wait to go back just for the steak. No fancy sauce just marinated to perfection :thumbsup2 It was so good I can't even remember what the side dish was. :confused3 Good luck in your search.

The side dish for the steak is Potatoes Au Gratin. I actually thought he would be interested in this entree. You know what he said? "I like ribeyes better." It's true though. He does. I'm the one that prefers filets (mooing). He's going to make me really work for this trip. :crazy2:

HMMMMM,

I would say to my wife, "Honey where ever you want to eat is fine with me...you did all the work for the this vacation and the least I can do is go to a restaurant where you get your choice. I will be fine...in fact it might fun for me to get out of my little box and try something different...I love you...

Show him this...if it doesn't work give him 10 bucks and send him to Golden Corral and you go to the Flying Fish for the seafood dinner of your life....

All the best...Ted...a husband!!!

Have you checked out the menu for House of Blues? The food is quite good there.

As for BBQ, all I have had at WDW was the pulled pork sandwich from Flame Tree BBQ in AK. Loved it. :)

hey,
The ribs at the Rainforest Cafe are awesome... I'm sorry I can't help anymore... good luck! :wave2:

I liked the ribs on the all-you-can-eat platter at Whispering Canyon in the WL:

Canyon Skillet
All You Care To Eat

$22.49 per person

Mixed greens with apple vinaigrette dressing, fresh baked corn bread. Move on to smoked pork ribs, canyon pulled pork, oven-roasted chicken, pork sausage, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, cowboy beans, creamy cole slaw and corn on the cob.

I don't remember the preperation ... but it was all good and hearty.

They have really good ribs at Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom. They have a rub on them instead of sauce, that make them not as messy, but the meat was very tender. It just fell of the bone. I would definitely eat there again! :sunny:

OMG is my husband there !! Hahahah, WEll we had big conversatiosn about this my husband dioes not like anything on his steak and is truly a a fuzzy eater, you see BBQ nope it was sauce. I was so tired one night of going over the menus I printed out for him to view that he said to my SHOCK, honey this vaction is aobut all of us! WEll blow me down! He said not to worry make reservations as long as it is not anywhere european and he will just ask when he orders to not put any sutff on his steak! Wow compromise at its finest, we will have a great time with that attitude! Good luck!

Another vote for Flame Tree at AK. Went to ride Everest last week and stoped and grabbed the Rib meal. DH and I eat BBQ at least once a week. We couldn't believe how wonderful it was. My DH is also originally from NC and the vingear based BBQ use to be all he would ask for. We have never found anywhere in Orlando that has it so he always ends up having to make it. Flametree is fantastic give it a try.

BBQ is something that isn't really done well at Disney, unfortunately. I've heard good things about House of Blues, but it's not a Disney restaurant technically.

Flame Tree BBQ at AK was probably the worst BBQ we've ever had. We've given it three tries and are sorry each time. The meat is dry and flavorless and the sauce is sickeningly sweet. The BBQ skillet at Whispering Canyon is decent, but you're going to be getting quanity over quality.

You're not going to be able to find Carolina BBQ at Disney, either. :/ I've lived in Florida my entire life and the first time I've had Carolina style BBQ was at the Charlotte airport in NC. :)

For the best BBQ close to Disney you're going to want to go off property. The place we frequent is called Bubbalou's, it's a small local chain and it's very popular around here. There are great places further from Disney as well, but I'm sure it's not worth the hassle. :)

This North Carolina girl thought the pulled pork sandwich at Flame Tree was just awful. I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad day, but it was so greasy the bun was falling apart. As you know, good NC barbecue is not greasy.

While it's definitely not North Carolina barbecue, he might like the skillet at Whispering Canyon. My adult son eats kind of like him and he likes that meal.

My DH is a meat and potatoes pickey eater too. We went to Le Celler and Concourse Steakhouse and he just told them to make the steaks plain without anything on it and it worked out great. They are pretty good at trying to give you what you want at the resturants.

Have fun,

Loralie

It isn't Tennessee or GA BBQ either. I have eaten there twice.. Neither time was outstanding.. just food.
