Who has stayed at POFQ?

I stayed at the FQ and really enjoyed it. It is a very short walk to everything. I didn't do the buggy ride there but have done it in NO several times and really enjoy it (I have horses at home but still enjoy the buggy rides).

You made a great choice. POFQ is a nice resort. We made the mistake of staying POR this year and hated it. Everything we loved about POFQ was missing at POR. The only two good things about POR were mentioned earlier. The piano guy and the carriage ride. I would ride it later after dark for a more romantic feeling. I can't wait to return to FQ next year. I highly recommend the pool bar followed by the hot tub after returning from the parks. You will sleep so good.

Just had to add my 2cents...I think you've made a great choice! DH & I love POFQ. It is our favorite of the moderates, and makes our top 5 of all the WDW resort hotels. I really like where the hot tub is located...even at most of the deluxes the hot tubs are kind of in an open area. At POFQ there is a secluded area with landscaping around it where the hot tub is...it's really romantic. There are so many great things about POFQ. Be sure to take a walk around the grounds.

DH & I did a carriage ride through SSR when they had them there for awhile in 2006 and enjoyed it. The driver was really nice and had alot of interesting facts for us. I can't remember her name, but she had worked with the horses at WDW for many years.

DH & I wanted to stay at POFQ again for our December trip, but we could only get an AP rate at CSR. Oh well, were getting closer to our goal of staying at each WDW hotel at least once that way...and we can always go over for a visit. :)

Hi I came back from POFQ on July 26th, when I cam back I posted this thread

www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1528906&referrerid=&highlight=pofq

I wasn't verry happy with my stay, but as you can tell everyone has mixed feelings about this resort.

POFQ there is no sit down resturant, only counter sevice and the choice's are no different than the basic burger, salad, and pizza......

I will go back to POFQ, but not right now, I rather wait until they update the resort. I have been to all the other MOD and this one I feel like it needs a little pixie dust...................:wizard:

In any case I hope you enjoy your stay, after all you will be in Disney.

Bottom line...........I didn't let the resort put a damper on my vacation WE had a great time.

I love pofq,
Its my favorite resort,

Love the pool, in fact I choose pofq over akl because I like it so much.

POFQ is my favorite moderate resort!! Love everything about this place. It's small & compact, so no matter what building you are in, it's a quick walk everywhere. We found the food in the foodcourt great. Wonderful selection, not just burgers & pizza, as there was also pasta, taco salads, etc. and the beignets are sooo addicting!! Had wonderful service everywhere here! Below are some pictures, but there are more on the link listed below.

does anyone know how much extra it is to upgrade to a room with a king size bed if they have any available?

Yea, I agree the Port Orleans Resorts have more to offer then the other Mods. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside twice in '06 and are staying at the FQ in Feb. '08 because it is closer to Downtown Disney. If you are two adults going, you will be closest to the more adult parts of Disney (Downtown and Epcot) The boat ride to DTD is only about 15 min., you don't have to make a stop at POR, and there are great restaurants there and Pleasure Island. The Port Orleans resorts appear to me to have the most green space and depending on what time of year you are going the most flora. If you are the type that likes to stay in the room all day and read or watch T.V. then it is not the place for you. You need to spend the money and stay at one of the Deluxes. But if you are like us and all you do is sleep, shower etc. then it has the most benefits for the $.

We love it there as well. It was the first resort we've ever stayed at and we will be going back in '08. I thought the CM's very extremely nice and helpful. At check in they took the time to go over the map of the resort and helped us pick which building to stay in. It was everything I could've asked for and more.

Glad you liked the pictures. There are alot more on my webshots page. I also forgot about the ferry to & from DTD. Also, although it shares it's buses with POR, it always picks up and drops off at POFQ first. Forgot to mention that too. Oh, and there is a little patio with lounge chairs that's surrounded by bushes near the pool, for a little bit of privacy. I found mainly adults in that area, as you can't see the pool.

I believe it's about $10-20/day to upgrade to a King Bed, but I'm not 100% positive on that one.

My family just stayed there for the first time at the end of August and we really enjoyed it. We had been @ POP three times prior to this stay and all agreed POFQ is our new favorite in the Value/Moderate categories. BTW, we had no problem with the buses at all during our visit.

Yea, we stayed during Spring Break and the week before Christmas in '06 and the only time we had bus probs was during park closing time (longest lines there) and during the middle of day, bcause when you leave parks during midday, not busy buses, that is when it goes to all of the stops and yes, FQ is the first stop. Also the lobby has a nice little Jazz bar that we walked to one night while staying at POR. You'll love it.

My family and I stayed there once and loved it. The main pool is GREAT. Never did the horse drawn thing, but look like alot of fun. The only thing I didn't like was the bus service, big stinker! No reason not to go there though. We just rent a car when we go! Hope you have a great time!!!

yeah, we are renting a car...i had some bad bus experiences when i stayed at POP so i decided a car would be best for us!
