I still think the Hulk looks like he came from a PS2 game, but how was it?

awesome, surprising and action-packed
says DS11 who saw it during a friend's birthday party last night

Saw it yesterday.

Personally, it was a little long winded. I think they could've wrapped things up in an hour and 30. 2 hours and 15 minutes is a little much for me.

They really went into scientific detail as to why he was what he was.

On the movie trailers, The Hulk doesn't look as 'real' as he does during certain scenes in the movie. He was given lots of facial expression.

It was alright. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the best) I give it a 7 1/2.

Oh and the split screen thing they kept doing didn't bother me in the least, I thought it would distract me.

Did anyone notice the cop exiting the building where Bruce Danner worked in the very beginning?

Do you know who he was?

(I do!)

I didn't know who he was but DS did. :)

The filmmakers could have cut back on the scientific part of the movie for me but I did enjoy the look at the emotional impact of the events. I had already decided that this film was going to be a comic book story but it far surpassed that IMO. I liked the way the Hulk looked most of the time too. He actually had a very expressive face.

I think that 7 1/2 to 8 out of 10 is about right.

I saw it on Tuesday (won passes to an advance preview). Overall, I'd give it a B-. Great casting, good special effects, pretty good story. I'm a little torn on the split screens, to be honest. On one hand, it was a neat effect to make scenes look like comic book pages come to life, but I don't know if I'd want to see it in every comic-book movie adaptation.

Blondie, my question is, I'm sure I know which security guard you recognized, but did you recognize the other one with him? There were two, one older gentleman and one a bit younger. Most everyone is going to recognize the younger, but the older guy is a little more obscure.

edited to correct the score above

We just returned from seeing it and I agree it was too long. I don't mind long movies, but it was at least 45 mins before anything really happened. My DH is a big comic book fan and he is mad and disappointed at how much they changed the "mythology" of the story. To me, it seemed like they spent half the movie setting up for the sequel. The CGI was pretty good, better than Spiderman, which we actually enjoyed a lot more and the splitscreen effect was pretty cool. Overall, I think I would give it a 6 and I think DH would be lower.

My husband went today while I was finding Nemo. He really did enjoy it. He picked up on the younger guy. Who was the older one? I've been reading him this thread and he wants to know.

It was funny when we (my sisters found Nemo with me) were waiting on my husband to come out of his movie. I couldn't remember when his movie was supposed to end. Anyway, we kept watching the groups of people coming out trying to judge which movie they came out of. After 2 people came out of The Hulk we knew that was their movie. It was funny that only 2 women came out of that one. Guess it is more of a "guy flick"! ;) Some poor little boy came out crying?

I was too busy looking at the younger guy! Who was it! I gotta know! PM me if you like! :D

I'll go ahead and post it here. The older of the two security guards was Stan Lee, co-creator of the Hulk (and the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and many others). He's made a cameo in pretty much every recent movie based on a Marvel character.

Cool! Thanks for the info.

Wait a minute! Who was the younger guy? When they came out my son said "look at the older man, it's Stan Lee". I never took a good look at the younger guy.

Planogirl, I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen the movie yet, so I sent you a PM.

Obi Wan, thanks!

As a Bill Bixby fan, I could hear him rolling in his grave over this movie. It was way too long, and boring in spots - I abhored the violence most of all.

DS 8 loved it but I was very sorry I ever took him - the message just wasn't what I thought it would be and not in with what I want him to learn.

That "I love being out of control" line was a BIG bother to me also.

The only good part was seeing Lou in the cameo shot.

DW, DS11, DS5, and I saw it over the weekend.

None of us really liked it, it's NO Spiderman.

It took way too long to get to the "good stuff".

The "good stuff" being the hulk himself.

This is not a popcorn flick like Spiderman. It is a character driven story. Thus the time taken to tell the story (with science gasp). Go into it expecting Sense and Sensability, or CTHD, or as Ang Lee put it a greek tragedy. If you want a pure popcorn flick see X2 again.

I saw it on Friday. I thought it was just OK. Too long, IMO. I thought the CGI was really good.
I did notice Stan Lee, and also the security guard. :teeth:

Charlie, my DH said the same thing about it being no Spiderman. :teeth:

I haven't seen it, but DH and DS saw it Sunday. DH said the second half was okay (if you made it that far without leaving or falling asleep). DS said it was alright, but he doesn't want to see it again.

jcemom - that was pretty funny (what your DH said!) All I kept thinking was about Bill Bixby rolling over in his grave and I just felt so sad that they ruined such a good show.

But then again, each person has a different opinion and usually I love those that the critics hate and visa versa!!

I thought it was ok. The f/x are fun, the casting is great, the script is smart but there is something blah about it. Maybe its dull because the story isn't about an outward battle of good vs. evil but rather an inner battle. I think the X-Men movies are the best of the genre. I didn't like Spiderman as much as everyone else seems to have enjoyed it. The Punisher doesn't look very promising either. And I recognized Stan Lee. I didn't even notice Lou but my husband did.

Okay, I'm gonna get flamed here for sure, but........

I abhored the violence most of all.

We are talking about the "Hulk" here, right???

What were you expecting???? (A '70's TV show???)

Flame away.
