We're in Orlando now - have been staying in one of the Vacation Central Florida townhouses since last Saturday. We rented one a few years ago and were not entirely thrilled with our stay. But it was one of those trips where everything that could go wrong, did - lousy weather (so we didn't get to enjoy the pool), car trouble (not good when you HAVE to drive to the parks), a back injury that made climbing the townhouse stairs a real pain, etc etc. So of course every little thing that wasn't perfect seemed magnified - finding a frying pan that hadn't been properly washed, discovering that the unit had a front-loading washer that was tiny and hard to get clothes in and out of, etc. So we decided to take advantage of a great deal for a sorta spur of the moment trip and give the townhouses another try. And we've been very satisfied. The beds and other furnishings are comfortable, there are plenty of bath towels and other linens, pillows are in pretty good shape, and everything has been very clean. I have noticed that some things don't look brand new anymore - the stove, for instance. But everything works, is clean and comfy and we're fine with the small signs of wear and tear that we've seen. Those are to be expected after awhile - I would never expect the owners to immediately purchase new furniture or appliances as soon as the current stuff starts to look a little worn. The only issues we found - and these were really small issues - the unit could use more clothes hangers and silverware. This was no big deal tho - we picked up some more hangers and a couple boxes of plastic forks and spoons when we made our grocery run. Problem solved with a couple of small purchases and the benefits of all the space and amenities of the townhouse more than make up for it. Not to mention how much money it saved us compared to staying onsite. We leave tomorrow and I'm going to miss my morning cup of coffee with the view of my own private pool and the big beautiful magnolia tree out back.
