Who has gone or is going in August?

Are we crazy to go in August(10-15)? I know it will be hot, but I'm worried about the crowds. How long of a wait will I have in Fantasyland if we do the rides first thing in the morning or in the evening? My DDs are 8 and 4 and won't want to stand in line too long. Will the sun be beating down on us at 9 AM? We've had some trips to WDW that were hot humid and it wasn't even summer. Right now we are planning on getting 5 day hoppers so we can take our time and also swim in the afternoon at HOJo's. Any ideas of wait times in the am will be appreciated. I have one frequent flyer ticket on hold and am planning on buying the others today when I work up the courage!

Fantasyland ride lines first thing in the morning won't be too bad, but get progressively worse throughout the day. Evening lines will be bad unless you are waiting for the last hour DL is open. Then they get a lot shorter. Humidity won't be too bad of a problem, but yes, it will be hot.

Stay relaxed! It sounds as though you have no intention of being theme park commandos - even with crowds - you'll have those 5 day hoppers so you'll have plenty of time to see everything. I would definately take breaks during the day. My kids are 7 and 8, and trust me - they can wait in very long lines - you'll be fine - they'll be so excited to be there the lines won't be as much of a problem! Humidity usually isn't an issue - but it will get hot. Do DL and Fantasyland in the morning, then go to DCA for the mid day - then back to DL before it closes. DCA has more opportunities to get wet and cool off and is less crowded during the day. Have fun!

We went there three years in row in late July and August, but about 10 years ago. It's a busy time, so you have to be prepared for lines. We're returning this year in August to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation and 18th birthday. She wanted to do to WDW, but my wife and I couldn't handle the idea of summer in Florida. So we looked in to DL, which is working out great. It will be hot, but the distinct lack of humidity makes life much more bearable for us. At least when you're in the shade in Southern California you feel a bit cooler, and the evenings are so nice compared to our region of South Jersey or Florida.

We went last year toward the end of August. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. It was low 80's everyday. Disneyland was crowded but we managed very nicely with strategic use of fastpasses and DCA to fill in the gaps. DCA was never crowded. Actually we enjoyed it more than Disneyland and it may be because of the crowds over there.

I don't think it will be nearly as hot as it gets in Florida. 80's and no/or very little humidity - sounds perfect to me. One of the reasons I choose California is DH said he couldn't take 1 more summer of Florida heat. Maybe 2007. BTW, I'll be there July 31-Aug 3rd. :cheer2:

I've gone to DL frequently in August and plan to go again this year. I used to think DL got a bit warm in August, but after an August visit to WDW, I got recalibrated and decided August weather at DL was just fine. It usually doesn't get uncomfortable until around noon (compared to 7 AM in Florida), there are no thunderstorms, and evenings are quite pleasant. It will be crowded at DL, but as some other posters pointed out, once it starts getting too crowded at DL, hop on over to DCA. Take your afternoon swim and nap/relaxation breaks, and then come back to enjoy the parades and fireworks in the evening.
