Ok, I tried to book with SW but missed the inexpensive flights. So I booked with AirTran. My family of 4 is costing me $1,094.00. More than I wanted to pay but my choice with SW would have been more expensive. I did get good flight times. Who else has flown AirTran and what were your experiences???

Thanks

Sharon

I used to live in Atlanta and flew them many times. It was completely hit or miss. Some times I would have no problems, great service, on time etc. But other times I encountered massive delays, overbooking, rude service.

It's a crap shoot really. It doesnt hold a straw to it's "discount" competition. JetBlue and Southwest are MUCH better.

Sharon, that price seems a bit high if you are flying to MCO from PHL. Friends just did the trip a month ago for $175 pp from PHL on Air Tran. The trip was very uneventful, if you discount the hour that they waited on the runway at PHL due to traffic delays.

Have you booked and paid for the reservations? If yes, you have them at the price you paid. If not, then check the Air Tran web site from time to time for special pricing. If you are traveling in April, there are some $94 pp fares from PHL to MCO one way pp. nonstop

OK, I'm getting frightened. Does anyone have anything really positive to say about AirTran??? PLEASE SOMEBODY!!!!

There's a fairly recent thread about how great Air Tran is. It should be on one of the first 2 pages and has Air Tran in the title. HTH!

Hi there , I flew them once and that was the last time I will fly them again. They have very rude customer service, grumpy people. Hold on are you refering to Air Tran is that short for Air Transit?

Thanks BrerMama, I go looking!

Hi! I flew with them in June of this year nonstop from Flint to MCO the flight was great. On time both ways. No problems at all. I actually prefer them over Northwest who I flew a few months ago. Very friendly service they even left a whole can of Coke, and 2 bags of pretzels for my son who happened to fall asleep while they were serving. I also like the 24 hour check in I checked in the night before and booked my seats 5th row, on Northwest the closest seat to the front I have ever gotten was row12 its alot quieter in the front. My mom also flew them the only problem she had was a bit of a layover in Atlanta because of a bad storm, but no other problems.

wdwmom2, there are lots of positive things that I could tell you about friends flying from PHL to visit. The airline has improved tremendously in the last three years.

The only thing that I would recommend is that you try to get nonstop flights to MCO. The connection through the Atlanta airport could, repeat could, be dicey, depending on weather related conditions.

i used airtran this past august to mco from phl. i paid $159 roundtrip. i was afraid of using them at first, especially with the online checkin and seat selection but everything went fine. we had a direct flight going to disney and i checked in at home and printed out boarding passes. when i got to the airport, we just showed the boarding passes and the attendant printed lugguage stickers and off we went to the gate. it was very easy! coming home, akl had internet terminals in their lobby so i checked us in but couldn't print boarding passes. when i got to the airport, they did not have the seat assignment for one of the kids i was traveling with. yes, i would have liked the attendant to be more helpful, but she wasn't rude. she just suggested that i ask someone on the plane to switch since the flight was booked. with other airlines, i have had this done for me prior to booking but most people will move when there is a child involved. we had a stop in atlanta on the way home and our plane leaving mco got delayed. we were on the runway and something went wrong with one of their instruments so they had to board us on another plane that just landed. no problem, better safe then sorry! we were there awhile and the plane we got on just landed so hadn't really been cleaned yet. but i will say that once we got on the plane, they made certain that all connecting flights were waiting for everyone as we were concerned about catching our flight to phl. they kept apologizing and all in all, I WOULD DEFINITELY fly them again if the price is right! $159 was the best i found around that time.

We flew AirTran in Aug. We got an awesome deal of $49 each way from Newport News to Orlando. We had great customer service from everyone we encountered. I'd fly them again! In fact, we're getting ready to book for Jan.

2 totally different airlines

This poster is referring to
Air Transat .. http://www.airtransat.ca/ (a canadian airline)

AirTran http://www.airtran.com is an american based airline.

Thanks everyone for your responses. They are very appreciated. I feel comfortable now with my purchase. I realize that with any business, even very good ones, things happen that can make people unhappy with them. Just to let you know, I booked the wrong outgoing flight. I thought I was booking a.m., but I actually booked p.m. That would make me lose a day at Disney. I called AirTran and explained MY big mistake. They lady that I dealt with was very nice, changed my outgoing to an a.m. flight, and waived the $50 per person fee. Now that was nice!!!!

We love Airtran and would even pay more to fly them instead of SW! We have no problems with them and have always found them pleasant, on time, and professional. We just used them in October and it was great. We are flying them again in April and look forward to it!

I have flown Airtran from Gulfport, MS to Orlando -- sometimes through Atlanta. Everything was great and the price was really good too. I would have no problems flying with them again.l

I've florm AirTran 2xs already and will be flying them again in January, ROC to MCO. We've been really pleased with the cost of the flights, this time we paid $390.00 for 3 RT tix w/all taxes, so $130/RT for each person. They have been ontime, or close to it, each time we flew and we have paid for the upgrade at the terminal ($35) and found it was nice for the non-stop flight.

Good luck on your trip!

I have flown Airtran out of Philadelphia with a layover in Atlanta back in August. Everything went smoothly and I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them in the future.
