My MIL wants to do the St. John Island Tour, but in the PassPorter is says 'some of the roads are very curvy which could bother some'. How bad is it? She gets nervous easily.

Hi Sandy - we did the St. John Island tour. Really enjoyed it. We got some great pictures. St John is incredibly beautiful.
The roads are very curvy; but you don't go speeding around them. (At least we didn't) Rule seems to be drive in middle of road until you see someone coming; or you come to a curve.
Oh, they do drive on the wrong side of the road as we see it.

We did the tour in May and loved it. Our group was me, DH, DD the CM, and The Ladies (my Mom and Aunt - 80 somethings). We all loved the tour. You go in open air buses. I agree that the roads are sometimes steep and curvy so but you sit 5 across on the seats so I'd just put you MIL in the middle and she should be fine. Don't know your MILs age but I think she'll love the tour. And you're back on St. Thomas in time for lunch and shopping.

They stop at the Anneburg ruins and give you time to look around, also some time at the Virgin Islands National Park and other stops. We had time at the end of the tour to check out the shops near the boat on St. John before returning to St. Thomas.

One warning, you have a 45 minute boat ride over to St. Johns which can be a little rough. If anyone is prone to sea sickness this is definitely the time for the Bonine or Sea Safe. The boat had an enclosed inside area and an open upper deck. Be sure to use sunscreen if you plan to sit on the top deck. If bobbidiboo
hadn't shared her sunscreen, I'd have been cooked.

we liked this excursion as well. st johns is very beautiful and this tour highlights it very well. we highly recomend going on it.

I have not done this excursion (I went on the three day cruise in May) but I have been to St. John twice before and it is wonderful :goodvibes

it is true that the roads are curvy, and can be narrow, but it is much less populated than St. Thomas... It is quite and private yet there are enough people are around. I found it a perfect place to vacation! :cloud9:

The beaches are pristine and beautiful... most of it's area is not even built upon. I do not know where they take you from the ship but it is really only about 20 minutes from St. Thomas... they probably slow it down and give you historical information while taking you to the island.

When I stayed at St. John the first time and visited St. Thomas to go shopping, I only went once and the other times I returned to St. John I never went back to St. Thomas after getting to the island. They have enough shopping, jewels, restaurants, etc... :earboy2:

I think you will enjoy it... in my fantasy world where I don't have to work and send my kids to a good school, I move to St. John... :teleport:
