I'm waitlisted for 3 nights of an 8 day vacation the first week in December and do have a back-up plan at another DVC. One of the nights we were waitlisted for came through shortly after the 7 month window (I assume because people started moving around), but there has been no word since. I called member services the other day to make sure the waitlist was still there searching on a "day by day" basis and I did call at the 7 month mark each day. (Please no posts about buy where you want to stay. I really love my home resort but we wanted to be close to where my parents are staying on this trip.)

So, after all that rambling, my question is... If your waitlist did come through, when did you find out. Do many people change their plans close to the 30 day point? I'd like to keep the hope alive!

We have now wiatlisted twice and got our waitlist both times within just over a week.

We waitlisted right at the 7 month window for a 1BR at the VWL for the week after Thanksgiving this year and got it within 5 days. Our previous waitlist experience was a studio at BWV starting on Easter Sunday that we only waitlisted for a little over a month ahead of time and that came through much quicker than I thought it would.

We're traveling with another family this summer, 7/30-8/7 and originally asked for a Grand Villa back in February -- no dice. So instead, we reserved a 2 BR + a 1 BR, and put the GV on wait list.

On Wednesday of this week, I picked up the phone at work and was surprised to hear a friendly voice from DVC tell me that the GV was available! So, after confirming that everyone still wanted to be under one roof, I spent some time Thursday morning with MS cancelling out the 2BR+1BR reservation and switching over to the GV. (We have an August use-year, so things got a bit complicated because our visit actually spans from one use year to the next. But after about a half-hour and one call-back, it was all taken care of.)

I guess the moral of the story is to do what you can, be patient, and hope for the best. It won't always work out, but in our case it did. I hope it does for you, too!

Made our vacation plans a little over a month ago for early October. We waitlisted the first and last nights. Just got a call two days ago that the first night came through. They still have me on the wait list for the last night.

Oh, and for our last trip, I called the day we were arriving and they had a room available.

So - yes - they do come through! Sometimes last minute calls work out too.

I setup a waitlist back at the 7 month mark for our Aug trip for a 2BRV @ BWV and after about 3 weeks of waiting it came through. We had reservations at OKW originally and just cancelled those out and switched to BWV.

I just got off the phone to check on my waitlist and both had gone through, they just hadn't called me yet. VWL Nov. 30th studio and I had a 1 bed. for 12/5 - 12/10 at BCV and a studio just came through freeing a 1 bed for somebody. So that's how the bumping game goes.
Good Luck!

I have gotten what I was waitlisted for everytime, even during holidays. My luck can't hold out forever!

I know there are no guarantees (which is why I have a backup plan) but it was great to hear your success stories. Thank you. :grouphug:

We waitlisted our whole week once and it came through before the primary confirmation even had a chance to get mailed. The confirmation that we got was for the waitlisted property.

I own OKW and have either gotten into BWV in the 7 month window or gotten it thru the wait list and most of the time it was for high demand times like president's week or Easter.

My last wait list was BCV for 3 week in June this year. I have never gotten a room at the BCV on a wait list before but 2 days before the one month where I would fall off the wait list it came thru.

Also is does make a diff. what size room you are asking for, the first to go are studios (poss Grand Villas depending on the resort), then 1 bedroom, then 2 bedrooms.

Typically the first two weeks of December is down season for Disney so I am guessing your wait list will come thru. But having a back up plan would be wise.

I have, several times. I am waiting for one now. I have gotten some of what I waitlisted for. I am waiting for the rest to come through.

ANother call from MS....
I have 2 nights BWview at BWV that came through last week and then yesterday....te other two nights that were PV came back standard. So yep, I'll have to move BUT for two nights I save points and then 2 nights get a BW view...yum!

Our 1st and only waitlist was for an OKW GV about 3 months out and the 1st 4 nights were received about a month after our waitlist began, however our last day was not received until check-in when or CM pursued it with the "folks in the back". All of this came after I checked a couple times during the last 2 weeks of waitlist and then I called twice during the last four days before we departed. Never give up hope but always have a back up plan. We did not receive our 1st room request for a certain location, but hey, we didn't have to move to the 2bdrm and studio so who can complain! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Christine-
I know how anxious you must feel being on the waitlist. I tried to book a Grand Villa at OKW for the week of Columbus Day for a family vacation we've been waiting 5 years to take -the dates are 10/8 thru 10/15. When I called the Grand Villa was waitlisted for the 8th,9th,11th, and 13th- Literally almost EVERY OTHER DAY!! :sad2:

Finally one by one the days started coming through and every time I took them. We had a little trouble however, when I had asked to be on the list and automatically book those days, somehow -near the end- that message didn't get conveyed and there was a mixup and I had to go on the waitlist a second time for the last day I was waiting for (the 9th). It did finally come through again and our vacation is all set. I'd say it took about six weeks for it all to come through.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

Hi- I'm a newbie to these boards but a DVC member at OKW since 1996- I rely on the waitlist to get the accomodations that we want and have never had a problem. I think its a great system!!

Last year I made ressies in early Feb. for a 2 bdrm villas at BWV for the 3rd week in July. I wanted a standard view, but all they had was a pool view or something that costs more pts. I took that and was put on a waitlist. I think almost 30 days before the trip we got the standard view. So we didn't have to use as many pts. Funny thing is..we were on the first floor and could walk right out to the pool or the carousel bar!

I just read through all the latest posts again and the stories have renewed my faith in the waitlist, although I'm still "cautiously" optimistic. We are trying for a two bedroom. My sister and her daughter are going to be staying with me and my two boys (ages 13 and 9 at the time of our trip). My boys have an absolute fit when I even suggest sharing a sleeper sofa or bed. All I get is "ewww, I can't sleep with him, he might bump into me". So I was going to put the boys in the studio part with the two beds (or bed and sofa) with their own bathroom and us girls would occupy the 1 bedroom portion of the 2 bedroom villa and have our own bathroom. I know however it turns out, I will be so happy to be there, but the days I'm waiting for are right in the middle of the trip so it would mean moving twice. We are at the BCV on Sat, Sun and Mon night, waitlisted for Tues, Wed and Thurs night, and back at the BCV on Fri and Sat night. My parents have said this is their last trip since they are getting older (yeah, I'll believe it when I see it) and they really wanted to stay at the Beach Club hotel since it is their favorite and they wanted the grandchildren close by. So it would be nice if it worked out. Of course I offered to put the grandchildren in their room, but I guess they didn't mean that close because they made choking, coughing noises when I suggested it and then commented that they were sure everything would work out. :) Thank you for all the nice replies.

It is so far away you'll probably get it but keep in mind bcv is a small resort and december is quite popular with dvc ers because it is low season...fewer points...not lower occupation for dvc. I had my first waitlisr failure for MLK weekend and I'm thinking I wont get my last day for this upcoming week June 19.

We own at VWL, but have never stayed there. We always stay at BCV.

We have used our points for 6 trips now and did the waitlist 5 times. We always got what we wanted.

Also, sometimes we booked a 2 BR and sometimes a studio!

For our trip next week, we were at OKW & waitlisted for BCV or BWV (STD view, BW view, pref view in that order)....

Our waitlist first came through on a pref view, then I had to add on a night (no BW available so had to take 1 night at OKW & the rest at BWV waitlisted yet again for the first night).

Our std view waitlist then became available (for the longer part of our trip) as did the std view for our add-onl night......

Needless to say, I was confused, but this all happened within the last 2 1/2 months, so, I guess we got pretty lucky!
