I joined Summer of 1999, I think a little bit earlier than my start date shows, maybe July 1999. I think August 1999 is the post crash start date. I don't remember the crash specifically because I was so new to the site.
Have also been on the podcast board since the beginning and have listened since the 1st podcast. I had started listening to some others in early 2006 and I was so happy when The DIS started their podcast in June 2006.
Like you, I was following a couple of other Disney boards, one on Prodigy and another, the name of which I cannot recall. I remember discussions about where we could go when these boards went away and then there were the DISBoards that we all gravitated to that has become the standard for many.
I lurked for a couple of years just reading and trying to get up to speed on how to tour the parks. My first visit was such a disaster (lines so long we could do very little without missing dinner reservations) I wanted a do over.
Things have come a long way. I remember they started doing CC numbers or something to eliminate selling reservations on ebay for the Princess Breakfast at the Castle. Before Askerhaus became a Princess breakfast.
I remember a big long post, may have been a sticky, describing how to call at 7AM 180 days out or was it 90? and what to push and say to get a reservation. Otherwise they were gone by 7:10.
Joined the first time in 1999, and lost my login information. Rejoined in 2001. I listened to the podcast since before Bob passed, and I still can hear him say, "Dianner."

I joined a couple of months before Bob passed. I was on the internet looking for something else when I came across the DIS. I listed to a podcast and have been hooked ever since. I went back and listened to all the podcasts and got to "know" everyone. I still miss Bob.
