Anyone have a literary agent?

Ok, so my friend has written some really GOOD books, a series actually... kinda romance, suspense, fantasy type books. They are books about IMMORTAL Templar Knights living in present day, and their adventure/misadventures... dragons, faeries, brownies, and she has self-published them, and has them available on Kindle. She is just in need of readers! By the way, she does not necessarily write like a woman, many male friends have read the books and are hooked on the series as much as I am.

Any suggestions? She has the first one of the series available for free by Ebook on the internet, if anyone is intersted PM me and I will give you the info. SHe really IS a good writer, has done TONS of research on the Templars and has been writing the books for 10 years! The series has 28 books in it and I know they will actually be a hit if anyone knows how to get more readers and reviews....

Well, you do have people who self-publish on the Kindle.

Go to Amazon; on the front page should be the ad for the newest Kindle. Click on 'learn more'. After the page finishes loading up scroll all the way down to the bottom, where the forums dedicated to Kindle is (There are two, the top list is dedicated to Kindle only). Start hunting for the thread "Have you published a book on Kindle" or such.

I myself have purchased one self-published Kindle book, after the author advertised it on said thread or forum (I think he started a dedicated thread). It was 'eh', but only cost $1.99.

Your friend ought to post on Kindleboards.com if he hasnt already. they love when authors post about their books and she WILL gain readers.

GREAT! Keep the suggestions coming.... The MAIN female charcter is "loosley" based on my personality... and I need people to read the books... so I can plan more DISNEY TRIPS!!!!:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

But seriously, she really is GOOD! So I truly reccomend giving the free book a try....:thumbsup2

Thanks for the PMs, hopefully you all enjoy the book as much as I do... I know getting more reviews will help so the more the better.

Any more suggestions????:confused3

It sounds like the kind of book I would be interested in reading! However, I'm not entirely sure what Kindle is or how it works. Do you download books and read them from your computer? This sounds very uncomfortable to me, I like to read in bed or in the bathtub, or curled up on the couch. Is your friend considering publishing them in printed form?

Yes she sells them on Amazon.com also. The Kindle is basically an electronic book that costs a good penny (like close to $400 for the new one) buuuut, that is how people are reading these days to save trees! Sooooo she decided to offer it there as well. However if you go to Google books her first edition is FREE and I did not even download it at first, I just read it from the site. Google Ebooks "The Red Cross of Gold" by Brendan Carroll. I am sure you will enjoy. Now I like to curl up with a good book to, but I use mt laptop a lot now to help with editing the books. She has written 28 in this series and you can fall in love with the characters!

Just realized you are from Fort Worth! She wrote the books while living in Coryell County area, not too far from where you are! The terrain is more desert-y and hilly, beautiful backdrop for a book.

I will definitely take a look at it, thanks. I'm always looking for new books.

LoVe a good book too, I am a HUGE Mary Higgins Clark fan and my husband always buys her newest book the day it comes out and leaves it on my pillow... how he has time to keep up with that stuff is beyond me... maybe because he does not have to worry about which socks DD has to wear to go with this outfit!:rotfl:

Now, though I have her newest book, I still read Bren's books daily and am soooo in love with the cast of characters... like I said before the main female character is loosely based on my personality... well, the first part of the book is really not ME but as the series progresses she gives "Merry" my personality. It's kinda cool, because, I had no idea that she would know my response to something... and sure enough, there it is in the book, exactly what I would have said or done in that situation.

This sounds right up my reading alley! I don't have a Kindle though. Is there another way to get them? If I like them...I know A LOT of voracious readers, who know a lot of voracious readers who may like them too!

"The Red Cross of Gold" by Brendan Carroll is the name. She is actually tring to change the price of the books (7) on Kindle to a bargain price of I think like $ 1.99.

Thanks for your reply.

I have a kindle....I went to the store and searched, and this looked like the first book?
The Red Cross of Gold I:. The Knight of Death (Kindle Edition) one draw back in the kindel store is trying to decipher the order of the series. As an author she could start a blog, and make sure to list all of her books in chronological order. Also, the 7.99 price is a bit steep.

It apparently takes a day or so to get the new price changed. The first one is Knight of Death, that I do know. She is now on Kindleboards.com discussing the book will be a new thing for her. She is very excited about this NEW venture... she is HYPER-intelligent but fights new technology! The Kindle is the new way to go... she is a nature lover as well so Kindle saves trees as well as labor for printing the paper books. She does have those listed on Amazon, but hopes that the Kindle will help get her read. I know she could become a bestselling author, she just needs her books
"out there'" so to speak. So hopefully the price should be changed by tomorrow and more DISers will become interested. I believe at the time she had them published (Oct. or Nov 08, I think) Kindle was new to us and the books she looked at were 9.99 so she went a bit lower, now with the economy the way it is she wants to entertain people who are looking for a bargain.

She does not expect to become rich, just get her name out there and hopefully give some readers bit of relaxation and entertainment on their Kindles.

She longs to take her grandchildren to Disney, and if she does well on these books, a trip could be in store for the holidays!

I am sorry I forgot to add that she has started a website (still under construction, and I believe it is supposed to be sort of interactive where the characters of the books actually come to life). It is really an extremely cool love story and I believe the idea is that the characters will actually continue the stories on the website via, blogs, letters (emails) to one another etc. The characters ARE fictional but some f them have the personalities of actual people in her life. She has an idea that will give a new name to interactive websites. Hopefully by June it will all be up and running!

Thanks for the advise and check out the new price!

:cool1::cool1:It is a work in progress! She is desperately trying to get her website up and running as well as the prices dropped on the books. As the economy is hitting pretty much everyone, she knows more people will be sitting at home and reading, and if you already have a Kindle who can beat $1.59! Happy reading folks!

Still waiting for Book 1 to drop down from $7.99...but I got Book 2. Looking forward to reading them!:surfweb:

That it sometimes takes 1-2 days for the changes to happen. Thanks for sticking with it. She really is excited about having a bigger audience. I am trying to remember what exactly "I" (Meredith Sinclair) do in book II it has been a while... I shall go check it out. I know there is a lot of cat-n-mouse action with the two main characters... never seems like the timing is right... the story of a lot of couples lives I believe!

YAY! The Kindle "The Red Cross of Gold" series books are all now $1.59.
So go grab ya some! Great reads. She also has a website and MySpace account, she tries to answer all emails and is glad to hear from readers. Keep in mind that she is doing this on her own (and does also have a full-time job as well) so it may take a day or so for her to back to you. I know on Kindleboards.com she does have links to her website and the MySpace (which is really like her main characters' site) has a link on the website (towards the bottom on the left, I think) Anyway, she posts book excerpts on the website, I know, but she still is working on the site (under construction) and should have it completed by Tuesday. She wants her MySpace to be an Interactive site where her Comments will be like reviews from readers (going to see how that works out) and a place for fans to "pick her brain". I know I constantly ask her "why did she do that? Why did he do This" .

She now has nine books on the Kindle for $1.59 and sales are pretty good as she put a little snippet of each book on her MySpace account and linked the MySpace account to the KindleBoards.com account. Thanks for checking them out all who have given the book a try.:flower3:
