I booked a week in a 2 bedroom standard starting Dec 15. Curious if everyone who was trying for standard got it and what time did you call? Did you call day by day?

I got a one bedroom standard, Dec 7 to 13. I called each day around 9:15-9:45 (by time I got through). Last year I was able to get Dec 1 to 7 one bedroom standard by calling on the check-out day 11 months, but I think I was lucky and didn't want to chance it again.

We booked a standard view 2 brm. for 12/20-12/27 but DW wants her parents first trip to Florida to be memorable so we decided to change to a preferred view, which we have done.

We called day by day to assure we got the standard view without having to move and then switched on the last call to a preferred view which I am sure were readily available.

:) :) :) :smooth:

We have a standard Studio Dec 7 thru Dec 13 at the BWV. We called every morning at 6:00 a.m.! Not sure it was necessary but we didn't want to risk it.

I booked a 2-bedroom BWV standard view for Dec. 1-7. I called every morning, a couple of times right at 9 EST (when they open) and a few mornings about a half hour later.

Called daily (got the same agent 3 of those mornings), starting with the 11-month window for the arrival date.

Booked a 1 bedroom standard view for 12/1 - 12/7, Called day by day. I intended to call right at 9 AM EST, but on two of the days I forgot. Was still able to get the standard view between 10 and 11 AM EST, but I did have to redial several times to get through (busy signals). I will always call day by day if I want a standard view. For me, the stress of the waitlist is just as bad as waiting for discounts (Pre-DVC)!

We have a 2-bedroom standard view from 11/29 - 12/6. I called between 9 and 10am, day by day at exactly the 11 month mark. About half way through the reservation we decided to add 2 more days onto the beginning of the trip (11/27 & 11/28), but unfortunately we couldn't get std. view. We're on the waiting list, but I'm not holding my breath. ;)

I called yesterday and got a standard view 1 bdrm for 12/10 - 12/14. We are on waitlist for 12/7, 8 and 9 (couldn't even get preferred view for these nights). I wasn't able to call at the exact 11 month window as I've been in the hospital.

The CM told me Boardwalk was most popular of all vac club resorts and this is why it's so difficult to get standard rooms. I'm hopeful we'll get the waitlist nights as it so far off. If not, we'll stay somewhere else the first three nights. Disney makes it so easy to move, this isn't a problem and we get to see another resort!

We did!:) Called every day, too. I'm sure it will be worth it. This is not the ideal time for us to go(we like the longer day times of the year) and unless this works out to be the most perfect trip, weather wise and travel, we will most likely be out of the bidding for years to come. But it was a must do, once, to see the holiday decorations so we are looking forward to it.

We have a reservation for November 19th - 29th in a standard 1 bedroom... I called day by day at exactly 9am, from the last week of November on.... Boardwalk fills up FAST in all room categories, never mind standard! This is our third year going this time of year, so I'm used to the routine of calling....

We are switching from the 29th - December 2nd @ OKW as I ran out of BW points!!!

msdis I hope you have a great time. We love early Dec!!! Its probably going to be the only time we visit from here on out!!! There's nothing like walking right onto Splash Mtn at 10 in the morning.

Thanks! I'm sure we will have a great time. We will be traveling from WAY up north and we had already decided no more winter travel for us since it is too unpredictable and had decided to stay with April/May and Oct/ Nov. Two years ago we had almost 2 feet of snow on Thanksgiving day, and we will be heading down that weekend this year. So we are hoping for the best. Now you have me worried we are gonna like that time of year TOO much. Nothing better than no lines for Splash Mtn., my favorite. Happy planning!

I booked a 1 bedroom standard view for the week of 12/7 - 12/14. I called each day and used the 11 month window. Last year I called at the end of the week and didn't have a problem getting a 2 bedroom standard view.

I found a standard view room uneventful. With a Boardwalk view, we were always on the deck having a drink and people watching. You can be a part of the action and yet still be removed if you want to.

I did day by day this year, because we needed a standard view as we are using the rest of our points to stay at the Grand California Hotel the 1st week of March. By trading points to stay there, the cash price is $355.00 per night. Can' t wait to see the hotel. We were going to stay an extra night, but at $355.00 a night, we passed.....

jkfreeman33 we have stayed at the BWV's 3 times in the last 1.5 year. We had booked preferred view each time and everytime we had some view of the clown. I decided this trip we would try standard view and save 40 points. Thats almost a studio for 5 nights!! You are lucky to have gotten the coverted BW view I would love to get it at least once.:D

I booked preferred view for my first BWV trip right at the 11 month mark with a boardwalk view request. Didn't get it, got quiet pool view. In a way I'm glad I didn't get it, it makes the decision to go with standard view now easy. I don't have enough points for preferred view without borrowing, so standard view makes sense (save 34 points). Our standard view over the pond last month was just as nice as the quiet pool view.

I guess I need to be a little more grateful for my room selections. We have stayed at the BW 5 times (all as DVC members) The first time was the last week of Sept, and 4 times it was either the 1st or 2nd week of December, all have been on the lobby level. Have never even been in the elevator at BW. Only once (this past Dec) we booked a standard view. Of the remaining 4 times, we had a boardwalk view 3 times and the quiet pool once. All 3 times we have been over the general store. I will say, that I have always booked at 11 months and I don't know if that helps. The 2nd week of December is now a standard week for us. It is very festive and the crowds are usually low, plus...... December in Florida beats December in Chicago any day.
I guess I need to be a little more thankful for my good luck!!
Still love a boardwalk view, but hopefully we will love the Grand Calif Hotel with the points we saved from a standard view.

jkfreeman33 when are you staying at the Cali Hotel? Let us know how you liked it upon return. By the way, some of our stays for the BW have been at the 11 month mark and others have not. We just aren't as lucky as you.;)
