Got my coconut last week! :flower:
I doubt I'll try the recipe however because it would just not be the same not eating it AT Palo!!!

Would someone be kind enough to send me a copy of the C.D., I am waiting for my first cruise 12-06 and it might help pas the time a bit, thanks

I have no idea how or what constitutes receiving any of their promotions, but having seen MJ with 13 sailings, that just does not seem right....

I *might* be because we are in Canada. There has been alot of discussion around Canadian's getting postcards (ie discounted room rates etc) and this may very well fall into that category. It may even be (although I don't know this for fact) that their Marketing Dept is split btwn Can and USA and Int'l. In any case, it seems like promo material delivery to the North is a bit thin.

We have cruised 5 times with #6 and 7 booked. We did not receive a coconut - my daugher had never cruised but has been to WDW, she got one. Go figure!

I wonder if there's a difference for people that booked through DCL or through travel agents... I haven't gotten anything since my Castaway Club card came, but I usually go discounted (airline Employee), so it doesn't count for any of the Castaway Club benefits except the special check in counter.

I posted a couple weeks back that we got our coconut and recipe from Palo. On that thread you will find the recipe. As far as who gets what mailing, I have no idea. I assumed it would be all previous cruisers. We have cruised 7 times with no. 8 in March '06. We were one of the March '04 cruisers and we did get the mailing. We also did the New Year's Eve cruise this past new year's on the Magic. Maybe it was sent to people who just completed surveys? I sure would of liked to have the tropical music CD. Not that I don't have enought of those but another would have been nice. Kathy

Just got a coconut in the mail today!! :sunny:

According to the note inside, it said "It's the first of the finds that we'll be sending you from time to time" so I expect more mailings will be arriving over a period of time.

It's random....as told to me by a CC Club cm. I have filled out a survey on all past 13 cruises so I don't think that has anything to do with. I have faced the fact that I probably won't receive anything else (only received a pin after our first cruise in '98) from the CC Club and that is that. It is sad, because I am a big supporter of DCL. I guess we will never know the niche that they were trying to reach was with the current mailing.

I haven't received anything and we've cruised them 4 times, both times with 2 cabins booked and I have never received anything. I got a CC card, the only one in my family and it came in an envelope...nothing else.

I posted a couple weeks back that we got our coconut and recipe from Palo on the same thread as tecdavidt. Hi Kathy:wave: don't know why we got it. We have been on 4 DCL cruises.. last one March 2004 and the next March 2006.. I never did get the tropical music CD. Oh well... I am happy I got the coconut..

Inside my coconut mailing it definitely says that it's for current/recent Castaway Cay members because it says "Hello Fellow Castaway!" on it, and at the end it says, in regards to the Souffle' recipe "You can impress your friends, neighbors, and family with this recipe... yada yada....Then you can make them all jealous by telling them the story of the first time enjoyed the souffle' while across a panoramic seascape".

This indicates that this is not a mailing to lure future cruisers, it's for people who have already cruised on DCL.

Markey, I'm really surprised that your DD who has never sailed on DCL got one! Or maybe it had different wording on the one she got???

At any rate, I wish they'd send these things out to all Castaway Club members. Don't they realize how much fun it is to get them in the mail?? :sunny:

I agree Seaspray... Please do not get me wrong, I completely understand that everyone can not receive one. But there has been a few things mailed out in recent months, and our family of 11 who have cruised 3 times on the magic in 18 months have received NONE of them.. And then there are people like MJ who has sailed 13 times. Oh well...some things never make sense....

Enjoy your day everyone.... IT is snowing here.... :guilty:

:cool1: I know it is kind of hoaky but I love my coconut. Just when I am feeling depressed I get something from DCL which perks me up. I am very sad that I do not have my cruise to look forward to. It was just one year ago that we were deciding should be go to WDW or on the DCL (we ended up doing both) and I just keep thinking how fun was that? We are going to do a cruise next March but unfortunately on another cruise line. My DH says we will go back but not right away too expensive and he is right!!!! I loved it though so DCL keep on sending me everything and anything. By the way did anyone get a card doing an additional survey after their cruise. (In addition to the one you do before departing)?

I just got mine... I am booked for a cruise in May so I am excited to know that I can make this Souffle'.... my last cruise was in 2003 so not sure which made them send me the card.. but I am glad they sent it...

sounds like a mystery to me... so I had to go get my coconut.. the direct mail code is

DM - DCLNNC - 05

My guess is the dm is for direct mail and the 05 at the end is the date for the mailing...

Maybe who got this mailing was determined using the cruisers that did or did not dine at Palo's the last trip or if they did dine at Palo's that they ordered the souffle???

On the last cruise , we did Palo for brunch, not dinner.. so maybe I got this so I will go to Palo for dinner next time?? What do you think?

Well,we've had brunch on all 4 cruises and dinner, sometimes 2 on all 4 cruises and the chocolate souffle on all 4 cruises so I don't think this has anything to do with it!

Yeah we got one! Really cute idea. I never had the dessert at Palo yet so I will hold off on making it until we go and really have it :)

We got one today. I hadn't read this thread yet, but when we got one my DW told me about it and how there is this thread with a number of people up set with Disney because they haven't received one and think Disney's explanation of the fact that one of their marketing companies is randomly doing mailings from their lists, was a cop out.

I didn't believe her, surely people weren't upset because they didn't receive a marketing piece aka junk mail. But she was right. Come on this is a reason to get upset? Let it go, whatever Disney chooses to give away to past cruisers is a perk that is nice but not required. And most mailings from any marketing angle have various ways of pulling out the information.

Sure we received the coconut, but we didn't receive a music CD, so what. I'm thrilled Disney does these cool extra things and happy for those how have gotten them. It certainly isn't worth campaign to let them know we're not happy when we all don't get something in the mail.

Keep in mind that with all of the past cruisers, it can get very costly and difficult to mail every thing to everybody. However, if by mailing some treats out once in a while to whatever list they choose causes them more head aches in the form of phone calls, letters and e-mails, it will probably be easier for them to stop all together. Just a thought.

:) I do not know is you mean anyone in particular Allears. But I for one am not upset... Just would be nice is all. Maybe you did not mean anyone in particular, but I did not see anyone upset. I did read some posts about some people not understanding, and that makes sense to me....
