My Dh's 35th bday is a week from today :earseek: , and I am still trying to come up w/ a special present!

He enjoys golfing and I am thinking of poking around a proshop for some gift ideas. Which disney course has the nicest proshop? :confused3

Thanks in advance!

OMG! I am so happy I saw your post! I got a GREAT suggestion for ya...I posted something similar and got this suggestion from janet2k who is a big help on these boards!

Fist of all...BEAUTIFUL BABY! She is a cutie pie!

Secondly...DH and I went to WDW for the first time without our DD!!! She is 6 years old and we had to keep it a secret from her. :goodvibes Actually, I ended up missing her terribly while we were there, but that is for another post...

Ok, so I SURPRISED DH with a 45 minutes videotaped golf lesson at the "Palm/Magnolia" course! It was only $75 and my DH said it lasted about an hour and a half!

You can rent clubs at the course, but I wanted DH to bring his own clubs on our trip so I did not have to pay $50 to rent them. So I "lied" and told him some friends of ours were going to be at WDW the same time as us, and that maybe he and my friend's DH would be able to fit in some golfing. Then, on the actual morning of the lesson, I told him the truth! He was so happy...and also glad that I gave him a bit of advanced notice to he could get his mind prepared for a lesson.

Now, the reason he got such a long lesson is he is pretty sure no one was scheduled after him. He said he learned so much from that one lesson...watching himself swing on the tape while the pro made comments was really eye opening. He talked about the lesson the whole trip home and I overheard him bragging to some friends about it.

My only problem? I think he wants to take one of those lessons every time we go to WDW! LOL...I don't know about that...that may be a little MUCH!

That is a GREAT idea!! What number did you call to make arrangements? My DH and I come up with a gift "suggestion" list for our occassions. And then we run ideas by each other, and let the person receiving the gift decide what they would like

I know it ruins the suprise element, but that way we get what we really want and don't end up wasting $$.

This is on my list! LOVE IT! Thank you!

PS: and thanks for your kind words on my DD, umm, I just love her to pieces!

My husband is a serious golfer and loves playing Disney courses. One of his favorite things to bring back from each trip is a new character head cover from the pro shops. (I think they're available at all the pro shops.) Last time he got Goofy and Grumpy. He's had a LOT of offers for Grumpy from other golfers here at home. He tells them to go to WDW and buy their own. :goodvibes

He'll be adding to his "collection" in October. BTW, his fav courses are the Palm, Magnolia and Eagle Pines.

Disflan...I like that idea, too! I have never even set foot into a pro shop at WDW but I bet I would see a lot of things DH would like.

EmLola-I wish I knew how to provide links. I clicked on a link that Janet2k posted on another thread. BUT...it should not be too hard to find. I think it is on Disney's Official website...there should be a section on golf, or you can do a search on golf lessons. Hope this helps!

Wilderness- the pro shops have tons of cute things. Shirts and shorts with characters and Disney stuff, golf balls with charcters, even some kids things. They also have clubs, bags, videos, mugs, hats, rain suits, warm up suits - you name it, you'll find it at one of the pro shops. We also found some golf stuff at the big DTD store.

Yes, Disflan! that is the link I used! Thank you for posting it!

I will definitely check out the pro shops next time I have a chance!

I was also going to suggest a lesson, since that's what my DH got for his birthday this year!! He didn't do the video lesson, but a 30-minute one-on-one with a pro. He'd done that before either once or twice and really enjoyed. He always golfs at WDW, it is one way I get him to return time and time and time and time, well you get the message!!
There are lots of fun stuff in the pro shops. The one at Lake Buena Vista and at Bonnet Creek are good. Also try Team Mickey (or is it Disney) at DTD.

am I imagining things? Didnt I post to this thread? I spent quite some time cutting and pasting from the posted link?? :confused3

or did I get edited? for posting the link and #?

FAQ 26: I'd like to order some Disney golf course logo or other Disney golf related merchandise. Can I get it without being there?
Yes! Contact Walt Disney World Merchandising. They can get you ANY merchandise available anywhere on the Walt Disney World property. To contact them you can call them at 1-407-363-6200, fax them at 1-407-363-4918 or e-mail them at wdw.mail.order@disney.com. They will ship your order in or out of the United States

I golf, a lot, and I would LOVE the video lesson! Great idea. I wouldn't buy him clubs because they are kind of like shoes, they don't fit everyone the same way. You can never have enough golf shirts, golf balls or tees, but the lesson is something different and for $75 is a great deal!

eeyore-Could it have been another thread? That is funny! I never saw a post here, but I guess I could have missed it. I keep forgetting that it is possible to order WDW merchandise from home. Maybe it is a defense mechanism...cuz we all KNOW the last thing I need to be doing is ordering WDW from home!

Golfgal-I agree...the lesson is special!

lsuttigger-The pro at the golf course told my DH that the golf course actually LOSES money. BIG money, every year. BUT...they keep it open to keep the hardcore golfers coming back to WDW with their families time and time again. makes sense to me!
