On our last trip, we got to the bus stop and all the benches were taken so we just got in line. 2 ladies hopped up glaring at us and got behind us. I said that they could go first since they were there first and I smiled sweetly. One lady pointed to the packed benches and angrily said "they were before you too-every one of them." Well, what were we supposed to do, wait up in our room?? What is the etiquette about people sitting when you arrive. We always sit when we aren't in a hurry and it would never occur to us to expect standers to let us in front.

If benches are empty, when we arrive at the bus depot, we sit.........we watch as late comers will walk right up to the bus as it pulls in, and form a line and board leaving all us bench sitters staring......I would never do that....as we approach the bus stations, if guests are sitting, they are there for a reason, we wait our turn for them to board and then follow.....late comers entering ahead of them is rude to my thinking......standing at the curb is for the young, we prefer to sit and wait and etiquette should be followed.

In my opinion, if you are not waiting by the curb, you are not in line for the bus. What are you supposed to do, quiz every person sitting down on what park they are going to?

If I walk up as the bus is approaching, I will kind of look to see if anyone is standing up and walking to the curb. But I think in most cases if you choose to sit that is your choice, but you are not in line for the bus, and no one is cutting you if they form a line or get on first.

Sorry, but if you are not "in line" you are not "in line" period. If you are sitting on the bench and not waiting in line when the bus stops at the curb, you are not getting in front of me. It's common sense! Stand in line. :confused3

Well, I pay attention and let the people who were there before me board first, unless its an empty/almost empty bus and we'll all have seats regardless

I would just reiterate....if you are sitting on a bench, standing off to the side, ect, and not at the actual bus stop, how are any of us to know what bus you may or may not be waiting for?

Of course we could just go back to first grade and start yelling "no cutting" from the bench when some poor soul dares to stand at the designated bus stop.

I feel the same way. I won't charge up to the bus but if I get to the door before someone that was sitting, oh well. The same goes for when I sit and someone walks up after me and gets on the bus first, no biggie.

ditto

I've got to agree with those that say if you're sitting you're not in line.

The ONLY time I will wait for the next bus is if there is already someone there with an electric scooter/wheelchair. I use one as well and know that they can fill up quickly.

But, if you're not standing in line you're not in line. If you don't like it then stand in line. It's not my responsibility to see which bus you're getting on.

But, the benches are in the bus stop waiting area. It's not as if they are 'off to the side'. If someone is sitting on the bench, at the bus stop at BW, it's pretty safe to assume they are waiting for the bus.
What to do??? It's a hard thing. I have been at AKL, waited for the bus to come. We got to the bus stop, and took a seat on the bench. The crowd built and built..it took at least half an hour for the bus to come. This was around 8:30 in the morning by the way. When the bus finally came, we got up and headed to the curb. Well, a woman with her family was just walking up to the bus stop, and got to the curb at the same time my friend and I did. Her comment??? 'We got here first, we should be able to board first.' Yep, she really said that. It wasn't as if she had been standing there, on the curb..in that case I would have had no issue with her boarding before me. But she never stopped moving as she came out of the resort, and to the bus itself. She had to have beat out about 50 people who had been standing, and sitting, there. My friend and I got lucky only because we saw the bus from afar. Now, at this time the resort to park buses were at the DME bus stop, so not much wiggle room.

Sometimes we sit on the benches. When we notice more people arriving at the stop, we get up.

I've never considered the fact that we got there first to mean we were already in line. IMO, once we stand and move to the curb is when we are officially in line for the bus.

This is how I feel. Plus, some people take FOREVER to get up, get their stuff together, yell at the kids, fold the stroller, and then they finally make it to the curb. Sorry, if you are not up and ready to go when the bus arrives, then you are not ready to board. I will thus be boarding before you because I am not waiting for you to do things you should have already had done so you were prepared.

If someone were to wait for the bench people, 200 other people would get on the bus in front of those poor souls. If it's crowded, don't sit on the bench. If you do, expect to get on the bus last.

IMO, if you are not standing in the ropes waiting in line for a bus, then you are NOT in line. I don't care how long you have been sitting on the bench. Would you expect to be able sit on a bench outside of an attraction and have that be considered you are in line? Does that mean everybody who goes to get in line after you sit down on your bench is essentially behind you and you get to board the ride in front of them? Come on people, common sense! :confused3

I wish that all the resorts would have a bus line que..just like at POP. I have seen some of the worst behaviour at resort bus stops. It's insane. People try to jump on the bus through the rear exit door, then complain when the door closes on them, people take their strollers, with kids in them, right up to the bus door and then have to fold it up, as we all wait behind them. People just lose all common sense when they see that bus coming. I have no issue standing on the bus..never have. But I really hate having to fight for position in order to get on the bus in the first place.
Put those benches further away and put in que's...and be done with the whole argument.

I agree that sitting on a bench is not waiting in line. The benches are not meant to be part of a line, they are there to give you the option of sitting while waiting for the bus. But it's not actually part of the line. If you sit on a bench then don't expect people to wait for you before boarding the bus. I take busses and trains all the time into NYC. You stand around at the bus station or sit on a bench and when the bus comes everyone forms a line. I wish Disney just made sure that there were roped lines for every bus stop. It would end all the confusion.

:thumbsup2 This is what we do. I've never considered us to be in line, if we are just waiting on the benches. If you want in line, then get in line about where the bus is going to stop. Sitting on the benches is not in line.

I have to agree 100%! I have stayed at POR, CBR and Pop. The bus stops at Pop are so much easier to deal with. Queue up in line for your park of choice. No muss, no fuss. It makes so much more sense to me.

Just having the line up like at POP doesn't stop the bench warmers from trying to get in front of you when the bus pulls up. They will still try and say they "were in line" sitting on the bench. People wil just amble up and stand outside the chained area and still insist they are "in line".
