Just got my Sunpass today. Planning on 6 trips over the next two years, so it makes sense.

Anyone else get one to avoid the tolls?

We got one last year - it resides in our "Disney box" now. Loved it - it was great.

I've had one for probably 4 or 5 years now. It works great! I love not having to stop to pay tolls.

Got one about 5 years ago, love it. Got tired of having to dig around for change or wait in the cash line, now just zip though like a local.

Also comes in handy if we have others joining us and I have to go to the airport and pick them up since you can pay the parking lot fee via SunPass.

Can you use this in a rental car? Would love to get one for our trip in October. We usually go 2 - 3 times a year plus I travel to Orlando on business. This would be great.

Yes, absolutely. We always use ours in a rental car.

I got a SunPass Mini, last year (I'm from Illinois and my I-Pass is not compatible with Florida systems)-- while I don't aviod the tolls, I zip through the tollgates and save a little money in the process...

We never have.

It's actually a new requirement that you do that. It only was announced a few months ago. You can see the information on the SunPass site. But that was not true previously.

It's always been requested that you register the rental car but I've always ignored the request and have had no problems.

It looks pretty easy to "add a vehicle" on the sunpass site. The only reason you would need to add a rental would be if your sunpass isn't read by the toll correctly. You would be consider a violation, and a photo taken of your plate. Since the plate is registered to a car rental company, they would in turn track you down and get the fine or fee from you.

If you register your rental car as another vehicle, Sunpass would see that your transponder is for that vehicle and not involve the rental company.

The website has start and end times so that you can register a rental for just the period that it is in your possession.

I hear what both of you are saying - we never added the rental before either. But they specifically sent out an e-mail saying you needed to do it now. The last time this came up here I said the same as you and others argued with me, and within a few days, I also got the same e-mail from Sunpass. It doesn't sound like it's optional any longer.

I thought I kept the e-mail but of course I can't find it right now.

Are you talking about SunPass or the other toll system (forget the name)? I have SunPass and haven't seen that e-mail and I don't see a link on their website for a rental car registration, can you supply the link? Thanks
