My rant for today:
I stopped at a
travel agent's office today to ask for a
Disney Cruise Line brochure. I have never been there before but I drive by all the time on my way to dance.
There were 3 people working there and one asked if she could help me. I told her I wanted to get a brochure.
She asked if the cruise for me and my husband or were we bringing children along. I said it was already booked and I was giving it to my children for Christmas.
She says..... oh, what is your name and I can bring up your file. I said I didn't get it thru them.
So she tells me that since I didn't purchase my cruise with them, they cannot give me a brochure
What the heck
So being the polite person that I am... I say okay, I will just go get one somewhere else. Drove down the road to the CAA (
AAA) office and asked for one. Was given it with no questions asked, in fact the girl said, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Perfect.
All the way to the CAA office it was really bugging me about the first office. I thought if I had their phone number I would call and complain. Wait.......phone book is in the back seat.
I called and I'm pretty sure that the lady I talked to was sitting there when I was in.
I got told .. well,
Disney Cruise Line brochures are hard to get, you didn't book with us yadda yadda yadda.
I said that I often drive by their office and look at their sign (they do a lot of escorted vacations) and that now for sure I would never be booking anything with them. First impressions are lasting impressions and that was not a really good way for them to be treating a prospective client, (especially one with friends, which I did not say )
Am I crazy or should I have just been offered the brochure in the hopes that I would bring future business there way, or should I not expect to get "something for nothing"?
Oh yeah, my next stop was at the local Sell Off Vacation.com office where I also asked for a brochure. Lady looked on the rack and there were none, checked out back and there were none. She says to me... I will order some in, do you want me to call you when they arrive.
Isn't that a much better way to treat a customer??
