Hi Everyone!
DU - I LOVE "Cake" for the name! But I'll always think of the dog as Elvis. Have you suggested that to James?
Robin - sounds like your family is a good size for a Thanksgiving dinner. My immediate family is 10 brothers and sisters, their wives & children (about 35 of them). That's NOT counting Tom's 5 siblings & children. In addition to our 3 children, their spouses and 5 grand children. They would NEVER fit in my house!
TW - Do you really think I'm formal? Hmmm, I feel so INformal! I like to have everyone at the same table (DH is not a fan of a kids table - I don't know why), but my dress code is strictly jeans....shorts if weather permits! I do, however, love to have the dishes, stemware, serving pieces...so I see what you mean. I'll try to remember to take a pic tomorrow for you. Fortunately, Tom is a good sport about my dishes.
I have a white "buffet" set for 20, including appetizer (square) plates, salad/pie plates, bowls and ALL the serving pieces (and I mean ALL). Plus I have two more COMPLETE sets of dishes - one for 16 and another for 12. Plus ALL the serving pieces - I bet my set for 16 has about 40-45 different pieces of serve ware...you name it, I've got it (including a Brie cheese plate - talk about over kill - OIY)! I guess we could get 50 with regular dishes if they didn't mind them not matching!
TLM - I hope you're having a great day. Ya'll have a Thanksgiving in Jolly Ol' England?
Well, the coconut custard is done and cooling for the pies, the ambrosia salad is made, the cheesecake is out of the freezer and I just pulled 5 quarts of homemade chicken stock out to use tomorrow.
PLUS (and this is b-i-g) I went with my nephew to pick up the ring and he's proposing tomorrow while everyone is at the house. He asked Tom if he could do the Thanksgiving Blessing and he's going to propose to her at that moment...how cool is that!
