I knew you could do it! A lot of people are intimidated by cheesecake, but this recipe is fairly easy and really good. Baking is truly a talent of it's own...you should try more stuff!

It sounds like you're busy, too! I have both leafs in my table and it seats 12, but I still need to attach a 2nd table to fit everyone...there's just something wrong with that!

my table only seats 10 & am expecting 18...so i have to move the kitchen table out to set up another table to seat the other 8...AND in they have to be in separate rooms...oh well....

Morning all.

Hmmm, now let me see.

If I counted up all my immediate family members (mom, brothers, nieces/nephews), the total would come to 12, one more to add Alex's girlfriend and if I really wanted to splurge and invited ALL of Rick's immediate family that would add 3 more to the total. My Dad is not included in that total since he doesn't often leave the home, it's too confusing for him.

I could combine both families and only have 15 or 16 people.

I have a very small immediate family.

Now if I wanted to start adding in aunts, uncles and cousines, well then the total would go up dramatically but we rarely see any of those relatives.

So far...

James has picked 'Rocko':rolleyes1
Makenzie has picked "Cake"
I am partial to "Disney":thumbsup2

Right back atcha TLM!

I like Makenzie's choice! :lmao:
I am shocked James didn't say Elvis:upsidedow
and I'm totally liking the name Disney :thumbsup2

We are rediculously informal in seating at my house. For as much space as we have here seating for 12 is impossible. We tend to do a sort of buffet style and then sit where you fit. My table only seats 6, 8 ona good day. We have a bar in the kitchen that'll fit 3 and the overflow moves to the livingroom. "Overflow" also loosly means the guys who wanna watch the football game while they eat. :rolleyes1

Colleen, I totally don't mind that type of seating.

I'm not so much into the formal stuff but will set the table if necessary.

Quite often the "adults" will eat at the table and the "kids" (all grown up now of course) will choose to sit elsewhere.

I don't mind the formal type either but I'm much more a casual sort of person.

I kinda got that about you Robin ;)

Having been to Susan's house and visting with Ann I know the sisters really enjoy being formal.
They make it so special~

My family is and has always been informal.

Hi Everyone!

DU - I LOVE "Cake" for the name! But I'll always think of the dog as Elvis. Have you suggested that to James?

Robin - sounds like your family is a good size for a Thanksgiving dinner. My immediate family is 10 brothers and sisters, their wives & children (about 35 of them). That's NOT counting Tom's 5 siblings & children. In addition to our 3 children, their spouses and 5 grand children. They would NEVER fit in my house!

TW - Do you really think I'm formal? Hmmm, I feel so INformal! I like to have everyone at the same table (DH is not a fan of a kids table - I don't know why), but my dress code is strictly jeans....shorts if weather permits! I do, however, love to have the dishes, stemware, serving pieces...so I see what you mean. I'll try to remember to take a pic tomorrow for you. Fortunately, Tom is a good sport about my dishes.

I have a white "buffet" set for 20, including appetizer (square) plates, salad/pie plates, bowls and ALL the serving pieces (and I mean ALL). Plus I have two more COMPLETE sets of dishes - one for 16 and another for 12. Plus ALL the serving pieces - I bet my set for 16 has about 40-45 different pieces of serve ware...you name it, I've got it (including a Brie cheese plate - talk about over kill - OIY)! I guess we could get 50 with regular dishes if they didn't mind them not matching!

TLM - I hope you're having a great day. Ya'll have a Thanksgiving in Jolly Ol' England?

Well, the coconut custard is done and cooling for the pies, the ambrosia salad is made, the cheesecake is out of the freezer and I just pulled 5 quarts of homemade chicken stock out to use tomorrow.

PLUS (and this is b-i-g) I went with my nephew to pick up the ring and he's proposing tomorrow while everyone is at the house. He asked Tom if he could do the Thanksgiving Blessing and he's going to propose to her at that moment...how cool is that!

OMG Ann - that is SOOOOO cool about the proposal!!!! be sure to have a camera and/or video going (secretly of course).

We used to all be able to sit in one room...but all the gfs/bfs etc - oh well - the dinner will still be ummmm SO VERY GOOD!!!

Left work today at 11ish...so home with DH - hanging out...have some things to do (cleaning this /that)...but it will wait...i work so much better under pressure

Ann, you sound just like Liz.

She absolutely loves dishes.

She hasn't even got her own place yet and she is always looking at dishes whenever we go out.

She also owns quite a lot of them already just to be ready for the day she needs them.

I personally would love to have a nice set of dishes but I just don't have the place to keep that sort of thing:confused3

I would need a bigger house or less people with their junk cluttering up the house I already have:rotfl2:

I have my everyday dishes and a set of 8 Christmas dishes that live at my mom's house since she usually hosts Christmas. If I need them then I bring them home and use them and take them back again.:santa:

Hi Brenda:wave:

Enjoy your relaxing this afternoon.

I had a request for bbq'd hamburgers with macaroni and potato salads for dinner tonight.

Easy enough, not too,too cold to stand outside and bbq. Maybe I will make Alex do it since he is the one who wanted them:rolleyes1

How's your snow? :surfweb:

The snow is great! I feel so cozy :cloud9: It was quite a shock getting off the plane from San Diego though :scared1: I couldn't breath it was so cold! But i'm loving it, it's getting me in the holiday spirit. And my grandpa just made a pumpkin pie :lovestruc

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday

Photo of the Day

I post photos every day on certain threads, kind of a game~

That one is from the Osborne Lights last Christmas~

ah, I see.

Thanks for the explanation.

Very pretty lights.

Pretty lights and NICE pic! I like that you got the Hanukkah building!

OIY! I'm tired and my feet hurt...but, I'm done for the night. The dinner table is set (and everyone fits), the two buffet tables are set up and everything is placed. The appetizer bar is set and the drink "station" on the baker's rack in the dining room is set up. Just need to fill the ice bucket and put the drinks out and cook the food!

Ya'll take care!

 :rotfl:

That's great DU.

:rotfl2:

I certainly called that one right from the beginning didn't I :lmao:

Okay, guys, now I want to see pictures of all of these Thanksgiving feasts:goodvibes

Have a great time tomorrow everyone.

Enjoy your food and your companionship.

I will be having my companionship at dance class in the morning and then going to work right after that (around noon).:thumbsup2

Gobble, Gobble!!!

Time to eat soon!!! :thumbsup2

Love ELVIS!!! Watch out for the Bichon part tho, DU. My parents had a bichon frise (sp?) and that dog peed EVERYWHERE!!! :rolleyes1 It led to her eventual demise, actually. :sad1:
