I want to apologize for the graphic nature of what I wrote. I'm truly sorry if I upset anyone. I didn't think as I wrote, it just all came out, and I know I should have warned everyone, but I honestly didn't realize how graphic I'd been. I didn't mean to upset anyone.
Tig, I'll post this on the cruise board, where I originally posted. It was never my intention to make anyone uncomfortable, and I will delete some or all of it if you think it's necessary.

I was not offended by it in the least Aisling.

We here in Canada, like the rest of the world were glued to our televisions that day (and for days and weeks to come).

It was a devastating event that affected all of us.

Not of course to the same extent as those like you who were closer and actually "lived" it.

I can't even fathom how it must have felt for you who were right there in the middle of it all.

I think it's good that you felt that you could share all of those details with us. It never hurts us to be reminded of the evil things that can and do happen around us.

I think we'll be ok here Aisling, ... but jic ...

Threadkillers,

anyone wants me to take this out or delete my post I will -

just say the word.

MHO, it's a truth about history. Truth and history can be ugly.

I have no problem with it staying there Colleen.

:thumbsup2

~Thank you my threadkillers~

Aisling, these folks are all just like me, and you know me. Your words were heartfelt and honest and I appreciate the time you took to write all that out for us. Writing is great therapy and the threadkillers are my therapists...

when I am not in Disney of course :upsidedow

AIsling and Colleen,

Definitely keep that here...It is just so important that it stay.

AIsling, we have a beautiful sculpture of Father MIke being carried by the firefighters in our firefighters' memorial park, just a short walk from my house. It was donated to our city to be placed in this park. I'll try to stop and take a photo for you over the weekend. It is really very beautiful, yet very sad at the same time.

Good afternoon fellow threadkillers.

The tunnel i'm due to travel through in 10 days is still closed. I think it worse comes to worse we may have to get the Ferry, or I'll be preparing to swim across the channel lol.

This weekend its my Fathers Birthday so on Sunday me and DD will be going over to see him and my Mother for dinner. Then on Monday I'm taking DD to a activity called Dinky Dancers then meeting my best friend for lunch!

Hope everyone is having a magical day!:wizard:

Hey Cruiser! Hope your having a good day :)

I'm having a busy day so far.

I'm doing laundry and cleaning up the house.

I am going away for the weekend again.

This time the competition is at our home field so we don't have very far to go.

We are going to drag the trailer out there and camp out for the weekend though (at least I'm thinking we are??)

So I'm getting ready for that.

The weather looks to be crappy this weekend though, so I don't know how pleasant it is going to be here.

I don't know if you noticed that last time that I mentioned it but I also live in Chatham. :thumbsup2

Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

It has to be nicer than the Chatham i live in!

Well since I've never been to your Chatham, I can't really comment on that;)

My daughter had a friend here for a few days this summer from the Surrey area, not too far from you.

He said that your Chatham did not have the reputation of being a very nice place, when I said that if I ever got to England that I'd have to go to Chatham.

He also said that he had friends there though and he didn't find it all that bad.

So what is wrong with your Chatham?

My Chatham is a fairly nice smaller sized city. It is a pretty good place to live.

My Chatham has a repuation for teenage pregnancies, crime, its full of what we call "Chavs" that like to reap havoc and cause nusiance.

The areas outside of the town are nice, I lived in Walderslade which is 10 minutes away but when I had my DD (I was 23, now I'm 25) I got given accomadation in Chatham as there was no room for me at my parents.

It used to be a nice place to live when I was younger but it has really gone downhill, but I would rather live here in Chatham then relocate to London.

There is some historical attractions here in Chatham, we have Dicken's World which is a indoor theme park based on the Dickens Era. Plus the Historical Dockyard etc, but I wouldn't go out my way to visit any of these.

Your Chatham sounds pretty nice :)

Ann, I am so sorry that I missed your birthday this year:scared1:

I just looked at my calendar and realized that I was failing in my duties;)

Please, accept my most humble apologies and I hope that you had a very wonderful day.

Did you do anything special besides going to McDonald's :teeth:

We of course have crime and drugs and teenage pregnancies here too.

But we rarely have any of the really nasty stuff.

Murders do happen here but infrequently enough that it is big news when it does.

My Chatham is mainly a rural small city. Lots of farming and smaller industries although we do have some bigger factories. For one example we build large transport trucks (or lorries ;) ) at the International/Navistar factory.

Lots of automotive type industry around here with our closeness to Detroit and other automobile building cities.

Lots of history in my area too.

It is near the end of the Underground Railroad that helped slaves from the south to find their freedom.

Actually about 20 minutes away is the homestead of Josiah Henson (from the famous novel Uncle Tom's Cabin).

Also many battles in the 1800's and early 1900's between the American's, British, Canadians and Native peoples.

A famous Indian Chief, Chief Tecumseh died in a battle very close to here.
