Good Night!

SO everyone....here is the ltest update on my life!

Most of you may remember that last October DD(14) sprained her thumb at soccer practice...she missed a week of Gym and SOccer.

Than in January she slipped i the shower and sprained her knee....missed a week or so of basketball.

In APril she tore her meniscus at track practice and needed to have surgery and then was in Physical therapy until the middle of July!

Well yesterday, it was an extremely rainy day here. She was at school and was walking into one of the buildings for a class, when she slipped ona wet floor and fell. She reached back with her arms to break the fall, and the nurse called me to say she needed to go to the doctor because she couldn't bend her fingers and had alot of pain in her wrist and hand.

So I went right into Mommy mode, called the doctor's office and talked to a nurse about whether we should come to the doctor or directly to the ER. SHe said bring her right in to our office, we'll have someone look at her right away. So I called DH told him to go get DD (DH works at a hospital directly across the street from the high school) and I would meet them at doctor's office. I was very worried but being a very good mom about handling all this. Well I got into the car and I just started laughing. This is absolutely absurd, that she has had 4 injuries within a year. I could not stop laughing.

So I met them at the doctor's office, where they immediately took her in and checked out her wrist, hand and arm. Doctor said everything felt like it was ok, but did some tests where DD had to close her eyes and then her poked her gently with a paperclip, sometimes with a sharp end and sometimes with the curve of the clip. She was supposed to distinguish which poles were sharp end and which were curved end. Well she couldn't even feel the poes below her elbow, but could feel them and distinguish them above her elbow! SO Dr. called ER and said we're sending her down to you. They took xrays at the ER which show no broken bones. However there is apparently one tiny littel bone called the Scaphoid bone in which a fracture may not show in the first set of xrays. However, it can be one of the most serious injuries and when the did a physical exam of her hand and wrist, the sections where she was feeling intense pain were consistent with this type of injury!:scared1: SO they put her hand in what they called a splint, but what I would think of more as a soft cast, and we go to the orthopedist tomorrow for him to do a check. Hopefully it is only a sprain or bruising, but who knows! If it is the Scaphoid, there is surgery followed by a 12-14 week recovery period! That would take her out of the remainder of soccer season and basketball would be out as well!

I told her it is good that she gets most of these injuries at school, or social services would be camping out at our house!

Well, I guess we are all getting used to these injuries... everyone's immediate reaction is "oh are you ok honey?" followed by uncontrollable laughter. DD is even laughing about this through her pain! NSalz laughed as did her DD (my DD's best friend!). SHe did go to soccer practice after the ER yesterday, to watch and learn, even the coach laughed when she saw DD. SHe's getting a reputation!

I hope your DD avoids surgery and makes a quick recovery!

Touch wood i have never broken a bone or anything, me and pain are a deadly cocktail that i refuse to drink!

We have chicken nuggets and chips, very healthy lol! Fancy sending me some of your steak! ;)

Thanks!

I's be happy to send you some steak, but I have a feeling that, by the time it gets to you, it won;t be quite so tasy anymore!:rotfl:

Yes PD - i am all recovered....and feel great - of course that massage on Monday def HELPED!!!

OMG - i SO hope all goes well for your DD!!!! Keep us posted!

PD - your poor daughter! I hope her recovery is quick and painless! P&PD for her! Steak sounds great!

DU - I read a report on that experiment that we may not see results for 4 years - that's scary to me (but I'm a fraidy cat!). If so many folks said it was too dangerous - why do they do it?

CADZ - I bet the massage was awesome! Tom & I are probably going to do a couples spa villa on the cruise...can't wait!

TW - good luck with the job fair!

LM83 - do you like to cook? I LOVE to cook!

Hi Robin & DalPal - ya'll have a GREAT day!

Well, the folks come back tomorrow morning from their abbreviated summer in Michigan. Plus - I start my cake decorating classes tomorrow -I'm SO excited!

Gotta go to the grocery store...outta milk!

Ok Brenda~ based on the aove I'm thinking of blowing LizzY's college tuition and using the money to play at Disneys around the world. What do you think? Should you do the same with Ryan's college tuition? I mean why invest all that $$$$$ if they aren't ever going to get the chance to use theie degree?;)

LM,

I've worked for 20 years in the corporate world and have a 2 year degree in Business. At this point I'll take anything that'll keep me busy and pay me cash~I interviewed with a construction company yesterday to do their payroll. Today I gave my resume to a local media company and a logistics (cargo moving) company.

Last night my DFIL made a pork roast on the grill,

tonight is either pasta and meatballs or good ole hamburgers.

OMG PD! Your poor daughter!

Mine went thru a stint like that playing soccer and softball. Hopefully this is the end of it and it's nowhere near as bad as surgery :wizard:

I'm with Ann on that big bang experiment. Stuff like that scares the bejeezus outta me. Scientist have nothing left to experiment on so now they go totally sci fi on us! :scared:

I love grilled pork roast!

I was wondering how is your DH? Is he still going to Physical therapy? ANy long lasting effects? (DO NOT post anything that could harm you in the lawsuit...if you are pursuing that.!)

My FIL's purty good on the grill...

John's still achey all the time. He reminds me constantly to keep up with my journal. When Hanna came thru I swear it got worse. He'll never be the same, I also notice that breaking his arms aged him alot.

The job fair was at the accident site. I even parked near the chain he fell over. Apparantly, they have since changed the type of barrier. It's no longer a chain, more like a rope now. If the improvement/change will help keep someone else from getting hurt, I'm all for it.

PD, sorry to hear about your daughter.

Mine always had a tendency to hurt herself too:sad2:

Colleen, I know that since Rick had his car accident he has not been the same either.

It's crazy that just a moment like that can change your life forever:guilty:

 Howdy to the rest of the threadkillers.

It's only me here to eat tonight, so I'm not sure what I will have.

Might get something out or just make myself a sandwich.
