Not a good day here...Mike got layed off today...
So we both will be looking for jobs...
Its really kind of sad ..after working some place for 30 years, there are alot of people he will miss ...

Betsy, I know what it is like to go thru lay offs.

We've been thru a few of them but fortunately they were all early in our marriage before we had any kids.

We were young and it was much easier and I still had a job at the bank which helped too.

Last night our power was off for an hour and a half starting about 3 am.

I wanted to just go back to sleep but thought I'd best keep an eye on the sump pump.

With all the rain we've been having and the melting snow it's been running an awful lot.

Thankfully it was okay and the power came back on about 4:30.

Then I could get a few more hours of sleep.

Its just such a shock,...we are both still reeling...

I Understand the 'reeling'....feels ike you been assaulted.

However......I do rememeber there is some sort of bill in congress now...that will let people who are laid off...and over a certain age take $ out of their 401K's without being penalized. Check with your local congressmans office.

All went Beautifullly yesterday........and the Weather was WONDERFUL! Avery nice turnout, all very comforting.

When my cousin came she reminded me that My Moms nephew died on Febuary 5th(25 years ago), My Moms sister on Febuary 6th(21 years ago), and my Mom on Feb 7th!

I went to sleep before 11 last night & woke up after 9! Just sat here and wrote a list of all tht still needs to be done (call varoius medical supply places to remove hospital bed, oxygen equip, elec chair on stairs...etc), go through Moms clothes (donating most to local Gereatric center), Thank you cards...pick up death certificate....plus all the regular stuff to do.

My Fathers side of the family is down from Canada. Staying till Tommorrow...and I think looking for a headache: ..... AINT GETTING ONE HERE! I have wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much to do. Rather a nuisance! (me being nice here)

James is here with me till Monday, and he wants Greatmas Meatloaf for dinner...soooooooooooo thats what he is getting.

DisUnc....Just read the last few pages. PD let me know about your mom. I am glad all went well yesterday. I know how mentally exhausting it all is. My family sends you and James big big hugs. When I saw your mom's picture, I thought I can really see you in your mom. You truly are such a wonderful person DU.

You KNOW me, You Knew my Mom. Very much the same humor and such.

YUP!

I'm making James'e favorite, GreatMas meatloaf, at his request. The Canadian Cotilion is still here.....annoying me. ....looking for food, coffee...etc. I'm like HELP YOURSELF I aint doing it. Jeeez.

Made a zillion calls tday, various medical equiptment places., Drug companies...all cancelling Moms stuff. Monday they will be here to take the Hopital bed, nebulizer, oxygen machine...etc.

Whatever Mom had owned outright, Wheelchair, walker, bath seat will go to a local Nursing home. Clothes are going to my laundry lady, she can take whatever she wants.

Still a bunch to do, but all in good time.

The weather has been good today, so james went on his bike to the cemetary.....down the block) and visited Greatma. He said he was talking to her, when a big breeze came and a big wet leaf hit him square in the face. He took it it for Greatma was watching TV and told him to SHUTUP!!!! DONT interupt Mom while her shows are on!!!!

Very weird feeling. Was in Walmart in the frozen food section and saw Moms fav Ice cream sandwiches...and for a second I thought to buy them for her.

Got the death certificate today, the official cause is "Sepsis". That is excatly what my best friend from childhood told me, she is a nurse.

Oh well...thats it for now.

Robin - our nice weather heads out tomorrow. We've been in the 70's for a week and we're headed back down to the 60's....not snow, but cold to me!

DU - your day sounds busy. I hope the relatives get off smoothly, the computer fix is easy and you have time for yourself today.

I was going to the movies today, but I am really sleepy. DH & I stayed up til around 1:30 and got up at 7am. I don't function well on less than 8 hours sleep, so I've gotta have a nap! (I know - I'm such a dweeb!)

Betsy....i am SOOOOO sorry to hear of your bad news. It's just happening EVERYWHERE!!!! This is just not right for this country!

DU - hope you're doing okay...and like robin said....don't try to get it all done....take the time to grieve & now relax that most everyone is leaving...spend your time with James while he's there...

Hi Threadkillers!

I wanted to post the pic of the Warm Duck Breast Salad. It turned out really well - it will be a regular in our house. I was amazed how tender and juicy the duck breast was and how well the dressing went with the mache, oranges, blackberries and pecans.
