Good Morning TK'ers.....it's WEDNESDAY - nice long wkend coming up for everyone...temps out here have dropped by 30+ degrees in the last 2 days.....we had a high of 76 in Gilroy yesterday (after the wkend's 105) & today's high is 73. over here on the coast - i'll be surprized if we hit 65~don't know what the Iowa weather will be - but guess i should go check it out to see what clothes i should pack

If I were to bother at all I would get a tattoo that looks like jewelry...most likely an anklet. I'm not at all into the full art effect of the larger pieces. John and I wanted to get rings but the tattoo artist told me finger tattoos are the quickest to bleed (smudge) and fade (because hands tend to lose alotta skin) and he pretty much told us not to bother.

I understand your not liking them Robin.

My sister has alot but also takes very good care of them. Sun is very bad for tattoos, they fade when they get tanned over too often. Touch ups are also necessary to keep the colors bright. Too much maintenence for me.

No tattoos here... to be perfectly honest they totally gross me out!

We just go home from the high school. DD was inducted into National Honor Society. It was really nice! Tis junior year stuff is really nice, but sad too. Makes me realize my baby is growing up. Prom and honor society all within a week.

I have not posted too often cause like UNC work has been insane! We have two IT type departments, one is mine (process control & automation), and our "normal" IT department. We have 2 separate networks to protect the plants from the "outside", so to have internet access we have to use the "normal" IT network. That network uses Novell border manager that logs all internet activity, and an additional piece of software was added called Web Spy. Anyway, they monitored everyone for a month, and one of my guy's seemed to like the porn..... a lot! We had several meetings to see what we were going to do with this person, and after a bunch of fighting I was able to save the guys's job, but he did get 7 days off without pay. So, the lesson here is if anyone is using the internet at work for their entertainment, think twice.

OMG - well NO porn here either....but i can use the internet - i can say hi to my DIS friends & even checki personal emails....i am 'ON' 24/7 even during vaca's....so we definitely get some perks for all that...internet & being in touch is just one.....

have a great thursday...i'm a little sad today that fave Idol didn't win last night....i love david cook too...but i think he would have done fantastic on his own without being tied to Idol for a year or however long that contract this...but i think archuleta will really do great as well....just being younger it would have nice for him to have idol's 'arms' around him for awhile....

I'm cleaning the house for our weekend guests. SWHNN is hosting a HUGE family party at her local community center (burgers, dogs, wings & beer). Our DD & her family is arriving Friday.

I'm making about 300 cookies (a bunch of family favorites) and an awesome baked bean dish for the party. Picking up a ton of sodas tomorrow for the weekend (believe it or not Pepsi is on sale for $1.99 a 12 pack tomorrow - too good a deal to pass up).

We're going to have a family soft-ball game, karaoke, badmitten and I bought a 20' slip-n-slide & water guns for everyone to use. I expect to be there until Saturday morning.

It's Tinknutts last day here before she heads to the Pacific Northwest for the summer. She's down south right now getting some work on the motor home...so the sister's are going to party this weekend!

Money is a reason for me, too! I'd rather spend it at Disney, on something I can cook with or a book. I guess everyone has their hobbies. DH has a friend that has a tattoo shop (he asked him if he wanted to be a body piercer - THAT'S another story!) and said he'd give me a rock-bottom price, but pain STILL steps in the way!

The pain keeps chicken me away too!

there's an 'older' woman at the gym who has quite a few tattoos in many different areas... (Colleen - trust me - there are PLENTY of tattoos & piercings around here - it's BIG in Cali too)!!!....but i have to tell ya that this woman obviously got these tattoos MANY MANY years ago....and they don't look sooo good anymore - leave that all up to your imagination.

Poor james had his 8th grade talent Show today (Guess who was the first too sign up????). But they cancelled it....seems like he and only 2 other 8th graders signed up!!!!! Not sure if he is peeved because they cancelled it or because he thought he was a "shoo in" to win!!!!!! Whadda EGO!

My last job we had the CFO involved with kiddie porn 9 hours a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . My coworker went to the CEO (who was the CFO's best friend) and my coworker was fired imeadiately! What a flippen mess!
It wound up the CFO & CEO stole 10 million dollars....and sadly got away with it! And 75% of the company was laid off.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency for Santa Cruz County late Thursday afternoon in response to the massive damage being caused by the Summit Fire.
Fire officials said a wildfire burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains has grown to about 3,000 acres. The fire is expected to grow to 10,000 acres
About 1,400 homes were evacuated - 336 of them under mandatory orders - as the fire, first reported around 5:30 a.m., continued to grow despite more than 500 firefighters and a swarm of tanker planes and helicopters dousing the area.
Summit Road has been closed between Mount Madonna Road and Highway 17. The fire is burning near Highway 17 and Mount Madonna County Park, about ten miles west of Gilroy, or about 40 miles south of San Jose.

DS' school cancelled for tomorrow....they are WAY to close to Mt Madonna & we travel thru MM each day to get to & from Watsonville for school & work....all very very sad here....

ahhh thank you soo much....we should be fine here....don't think the winds will bring it to Gilroy & i have an alt route i can take & bypass it all to get to the ofc tomorrow...just so glad that there have been no bodily injuries or fatalaties (yet) - hopefully there will NOT be~
DD & her fiance are bldg a new house that's close to the affected area = BUT fortunately they are still in permit phase. Unfortunately we do have some friends up in the area but don't know yet how their homes are withstanding....

CADZ - Please be careful! Fires are scary - you never know where they're headed! When they had the wildfires in San Diego some years back, our DS, DDIL & their kids and my DB & his family were evacuated. Fortunately they had no damage.

DU - I WAS excited about the Pepsi sale. When you're buying 27 twelve packs, that's quite a price break! Loading and unloading them wasn't a barrel of laughs, tho! I'll be sure to give the sisters your love.

Well, I have 7 batches of cookies made and in the fridge to be baked tomorrow for the party - we're gonna have a good time!

I used to be (a zillion years ago) an Asst. Manager for a Credit Union. We had a IT department that regularly screened computer usage (for security reasons). We had one guy in my dept they suspected was laundering $$$. He wore Armani to work and worked part-time for less than $10 per hour...but I digress. They had a couple of people that were looking up the PRESIDENT/CEO & SRVP's accounts and salaries! Okay - if you work at a bank...that is NOT a smart move. People just don't think sometimes!
