Who feels like a Thread-Killer? (Temporary)

Hiya Threadkillers!

I haven't done this in a WHILE, but here is my dinner menu:

A greek salad with chicken and brown rice added to the salad (you should try rice with greek salad dressing). I found a cool recipe for greek salad & dressing I've not tried - it said to add chicken - I added the rice (Southern Living Annual Recipes 1998)

An almond, pinenut & dried appricot coffee cake. Half of the flour is crushed, toasted almonds & pinenuts. Found it on the food network. I'm hoping it's good.

After a very frustrating day - I've settled down regarding my father. I told my parents that I discussed them behind my back (even on-line) and I apologized for that and told them what I said. They (naturally) understood that it's because I love them. They are SO nice...

Unfortunately, Dad is worse rather than better. He has ANOTHER fracture on his pelvis (that makes 4 fractures) and can't keep anything down. They've given him a powerful anti-nausea drug and that's not working. His dehydration is taken care of (thanks to the IV's) but he is also anemic.

The nurse was going to speak to his primary care doc and see if he wanted to call in a GI doc or an oncologist to do some tests regarding his stomach/digestive system. We'll see.

DM is thinking of skipping the nursing/rehab facility after the hospital and keeping a sharper eye on him then he had over there...I agree. We also discussed at home he may be more mentally active, which may lead to the desire for more physical activity.

Oh, eek! I've gone and dumped on ya'll again. Thanks for letting me spew! DH is almost home and the cake is ready to come out of the oven! C-ya!

I'm sure this is a VERY difficult situation for you, and I will keep all of you in my prayers. Now about that dinner, um.... is there any left?:rolleyes1

:cool1:

Got my review, got a promotion!

get a load of this.....Because of the promo I got .35% more in my annual increase!!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Its absolutley crazy that people think this is a "good thing"!

:confused3

I dont think I can ever tell someone that because you did such a outstanding job this past year, we are bumping up your salary .35%!

Try not to spnd it all in one place!

Morning everyone,

Its rainy and gloomy here today...in the 50s...:sad2: ..But Its not even getting into the 50s in the next couple of days they say...Hope they are wrong...:guilty: ...
I was starting to enjoy it being spring...and I think we are slipping backwards a little:scared:

I have no plans for today...I was going to work in my gardens, but that out...So...:confused3 The day is a blank slate...:)

What are the TKers doing today?

Ann,
Vent anytime you need to...Its what we are here for...as your friends its our duty, and pleasure to be here for you:grouphug:
Your dad is in my prayers...It just sucks getting older...I hope things turn around for you all soon!pixiedust:

DU,
Wow congratulations! ....Just think, it may pay for your refillable cup, when you go to the world this summer....:thumbsup2 I hear they are getting expensive...:rotfl:

Colleen,
How are the projects going?...

well have good day...

TTFNpaw:

Morning threadkillers.

Enjoy that raise DU. At least you got a raise, they have given you nothing;)

Betsy, Rick and I were talking about places to go with our new trailer and I told him that I'd like to drive it to your house and park it by your pond:goodvibes

He right away asked if there was an airplane competition close by :lmao:

Have a good day everyone.

Hi Threadkillers!

Thanks for all your kind words - they mean a lot. Dad is the same - a little worse. He's no longer up for any sort of visitor. Doing the technicolor yawn in front of people is daunting. He does have a GI doc coming some time today.

DU - congratulations on your promotion! I'm with PD (hi PD!) and sewer (hi sewer) - don't spend it all in one place! Either way - it's nice to be recognized for your work.

Sewer - I don't have any leftovers and it was really good. However, I am always willing to share recipes. Let me know if you ever want any and I'll PM them to you.

DalPal - you're right. Getting old isn't for sissies! I hope you had a nice shopping day! We're gearing up for strange weather. Tomorrow it will be 85º and Sunday it will be 66º. That's a BIG difference in high temps for 24 hours.

CADZ - good luck with your brownies AND your busy schedule! See you when you have time!

Robin - If you come down - I'll bake you a cake. It's not a super sweet cake tho...I like in-your-face sweetness in cakes. Tom prefers the less sweet pastries.

PD - I hope you're having a nice day. Are you headed to the beach this summer? Nantucket...right? Do you remember the name of that place that made the cranberry cordials? I think it's time to get DH another box!

Well, tinknutt and I did our grocery shopping together today. I've been recycling and using my cloth bags faithfully for about a year. I now put out one garbage bag a week rather than the three from a year ago.

DH and I have decided to "go organic" as much as possible in our food. The decision was cemented two nights ago when he informed me that he didn't like the regular milk as much as the Organic stuff.

I found a great store that is ALL organic - including meats and am starting to shop there more and Publix is starting to carry a TON of USDA certified Organic items. I will NOT, however, give up my diet cokes - I'll just recycle the cans! Anyone else doing any of this and have any good ideas or hints for me?

Hi Ann!

I too am really sad about your Dad...if my kids think dealing with the Dog is hard, they ain't seen nothing yet :( Getting Old really isn't for the weak. I was about my kids' age when my Grandmother and John's Grandmother both passed from Cancer. That! Was hard~

Hi Betsy!

My projects are going very well, thank you :)

...here's a little example of how this one has changed...

Remember the first one I showed you?

Selfcopy2.jpg

Here is the new and improved version....and probably the one I will hand in~

Selfcomp1.jpg

and here is the alternative version....I like this one but am told it's harder to see the detail for someone who doesn't "know" the photos in it like I do~

SelfComp2.jpg

I printed this last one out and started coloring it like a coloring book page ::yes::

We are not "totally green" in our house but I make a very valiant effort ::yes::

My daughter is vegetarian by choice. (Not exactly organic but close-she thinks she's saving the animals)

We recycle EVERYTHING that can be...my motivation would be the three dumps I see growing around us. Tullytown PA, Bordentown NJ and Columbus NJ all have one. Tullytown is the biggest and is right across the Deleware from us in PA. Bordentown has been there all my life, the joke was how bad the high school smelled cause it was right up the road from the dump. Columbus is the newest and is actually a study site for Rutger's University.

When I get rid of anything big like furniture or clothing or anything non biodegradeable it's thru resale or donation - I NEVER throw that stuff in a garbage can.

I'm trying to get DH to eat vegetarian twice a week - you think I was asking him to use the neighbor's cat for target practice! He's getting better - but he'll snack the entire night afterwards.

I also take furniture and clothing to Goodwill or Salvation Army....I just took all my skinny clothes there (sad to say, but 90% of the weight I lost has now been found!).

Thanks for your kind words. I like all of your photo options - but your original one is my favorite!

Your husband is priceless...I know how he feels tho~

I made it very clear when my kids decided to do this (Adrian lasted two months) that NOONE was taking away my beef! Vegetarian stuff just isn't filling to me either.

Holding off weight is hard...I thought you looked good when I met you (and Tom most likely agrees.)

You really like my original one best???

I felt it had one or two layers too many....I know I will rework the new version one more time before the final is due. I feel this last (color) one turned out too dark~

Wanna see why my hands are swollen today?!?!

I've been pecking away at an ivy garden we have on the side of the house. It's taken me (literally) ten years to get to this point but I am soooo happy with the result~

Here is the patch I've been working on about two weeks ago...

DSC_0023.jpg

Here is where I'd gotten it to just prior to yesterday~

DSC_0203-1.jpg

and here it is today!

DSC_0225.jpg

John is bringing me home more slate to fill in the center. I am sooo happy with how it turned out. I still have about five feet of Ivy garden to get rid of but now we can pull our big charcoal grill around and have it by the other side door~

:guilty: So sorry to hear about your weight gain Ann. We still love you anyway that you are and I know that Tom does too.

I know what it is like too. I've gained back a few of the pounds that I lost. Only about 7 or 8 of the 35 pounds but I really need to stop this before it gets out of hand.

I need to start all over again and lose another 35 pounds but so far I've been having trouble finding the motivation.

My projects are going very well, thank you :)

Colleen, I think that I actually like the first one the best.

Although now that you have shown me the others I can see your outline much better.

I like that third one next best and the middle one the least.

The only problem is ....... Where did Mickey go :scared:

Your yard looks nice. It's always fun to get some of those little cleanup jobs done and then sit back and admire them for a bit:thumbsup2

Actually going back and looking again, I think that I prefer the middle one with the extra colour before the totally black and white one.

I know!!! I lost the Mickey when I pulled my face forward on the layers...

In my final redo, I am going to move that layer around to try to get Mickey back and not have so many faces obscured in the background by lines in the forground :3dglasses

Can't wait to see the finished project.

I went out and picked up a bit of food for the house this afternoon.

It is actually quite warm out but there is also a tornado watch to go with it:sad2:

It was rainy, dreary and in the 50s here too, but it felt cold...that raw rainy cold! UGH!

I worked then DD(!6) and I went out to dinner. Back home now. DD12 has a friend stayingover and DD14 is staying over a friends house. She is on crutches again. She was running at track practice on Wednesday afternoon and her knee just locked up when she was running! Pediatrician had us get xrays, nothings broken, but this is the same knee she sprained about 2 months ago. The injury is in a different are around the knee, and the doctor says seeing as she is an athlete, she doesn't want to just let her go 2 weeks with crutches. She referred us to an orthopedic group that works alot with athletes and teen-agers. She has an appointment for Tuesday afternoon. Her first track meet was yesterday, and obviously she couldn't run. She is a sprinter and it's not just Mama pride saying that she is speedy. She usually takes first at the meets, but she always finishes in the top 3. Her 4 x 100 relay was undefeated last year! She was so sad! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is nothing serious!

Here's the link for the candy store! http://www.stagestop.pointshop.com/
We go to Cape Cod, close to Cape Cod, but mainland rather than an island. I would like to go to Nantucket though! We've been to Martha's Vineyard.

We are set to go to the Cape at the beginning of July, but I'm going to see if we can change our dates to a little later in July or maybe early August.

I can't decide which is best. It's amazing how they are all so different! I think the first one still catches my attention the most. I like the color and that you can really distinguish things!

I think about going green...Does that count? ( I don't even have a green thumb!)

OK the neighbor's cat comment is sooo funny!

We out old furniture out in the front yard on a weekend, usually someone driving by will pick it up!
