I tend to have many books on my desk cause what one doesn't answer for me another one will

Also since he was only 6 weeks from finishing his college education, that kind of sucks too.

I hope they figure something out real quick so these students don't have to lose their entire semester.

Our students here are kind of better off than some others because they have missed less because their spring break was last week. Most other colleges had already had their spring breaks before the strike started.

Of course, what can you really do about it Nothing. It's just an added stress that most of them don't need right now.

I guess they caught a 'break' at the right time, eh? <noted <I haven't done eh? <noted for a LOOONNNGGG time!

Anyway, so Alex's graduation could be delayed? He might have to re-do everything? That's just awful.

We have a somewhat similar problem in our public school system here....the contracts, or whatever, come up when school starts, or during the year, which creates anxiety ALL the time! WHY don't they do this 'negotiating/striking' over the summer? Why do the teachers still have this 'hold' on the dates being DURING school?? Rhetorical question.

BTW, I am NOT bashing teachers in any way. I come from a large, strong Union family, so I know what it's like, but if my Union family of plumbers went on strike tomorrow, I don't think a mass of children/young adults would be at risk of losing/re-doing their education. Sorry, I'm venting. I just feel that the Police, Firemen, Paramedics, Nurses, Teachers, etc., in the service industry, need to consider who they're hurting while they're striking. Just my dumb thoughts this evening.

It's almost the weekend!!! Next week is spring break!!! Hubby took next week off so the whole family will be free.... Hmmmm What will we do??

We may go to the aquarium, work in the yard, go to the new Wal-Mart that they just built and opened yesterday, go to Tallahassee...

So Robin, what type of cabinets and what colors did you get? What type of flooring??? Do you have an idea of what color wall you want? May will get here before you know it...

They always say it's not about the money, that they want to give a better education for the students.

Well, then go on strike during the summer months when they are only affecting their OWN time not the students.

Of course that doesn't cause any inconvenience to anyone, so they don't get the attention that they want.

Yes the strike is still going on with no end in sight and it IS frustrating

Here is a picture of the flooring we chose for our new kitchen:

It is a laminate flooring that looks very much like ceramic tile when it is installed but it is virtually indestructable (or so they say) The company is Wilsonart and the name of the pattern is Cordoba.

The cabinet colour is called spice. It's a medium dark colour with sort of a reddish tinge to it. It's hard to describe, maybe I can find a picture of it somewhere.

The countertop will be laminate and it is also by Wilsonart, the pattern name is Villa Roca. Here is a picture of it. I'm not so sure that I'm really crazy about the colour yet but I'm hoping it will grow on me.

As you can tell from my new ticker I did it - I quit smoking - as did DH - and he & I started a new diet/excersize program last week and I have lost 3.5 lbs and I am hoping for a total of 10lbs before we leave for WDW in 26 days.....he lost 5lbs and is hoping for a total loss of 12lbs before we leave....

I am trying to go back to a "former life" - a new Applebees is opening about 5 minutes from my house - I applied online for a server position - I only fear that if they look at my history with them and see ALL the stuff I did the last time I worked from them they will want me for other positions as well - just gotta stick to my guns - note that is not ego it is what happened the last time I went to work for them hence why I had so many more positions with them........

Anyhoo - DH left for Atlantic City for some jamblin' so it's me and the kiddos for the next couple of days - AND NO PARTIES!!!! LOL

The Cabinets are kind of/sort of this colour but maybe not exactly:

We are going with only the square shape in the doors, no arches at all.

Here is a picture that looks fairly close to what the cabinet colour and style will be like, not exactly. We are having only flat panels on the drawer fronts not the fancy raised panels.

EDITED TO ADD: I just hope the colours won't be too dark.

I hope that you can find a way to come too Kelly. We originally had the date planned for June but it conflicted with my dress rehearsal for dance recital and it was only Betsy and I going. So we decided to postpone it till later in the summer.

Now we hope that a few more TKers will be able to come too

We had a dusting of snow when I looked out this morning, but its gone now .....winter just keeps trying to hang on here...Come on Winter give it up already!....Let Spring come!
The forecast says we will get to be 38 today...and into the 40s this weekend...I want 70s!

Yep!..The NF meet is still on. ..I hope we can get alot of you all to come ...It will be alot of fun to meet all of you ....

I really dont like our Walmart here ..Its not really the store I dont like ...Its the workers...they just dont care....If you cant find something ..its like "well I think we sell it...Go look in the seasonal...maybe you will find it there....BYE!"...NO help ..and in out store the isles are always blocked with boxes and things so you have to go all the way down to the end of an isle to get to the other side.....I go in there in a good mood and come out in a bad mood ....Sorry Im ranting ...Our Walmart is a pet peeve or mine...Hope your turns out to be better!... I like Target...a Much nicer store here! Im not a fan of their clothes..but everything else is nice and the prices are good!...

Im stuck with less then five lbs. to lose to make my goal...I have been stuck for a month now....I lose a lb. ...then gain a lb....then lose it again...but I cant get past that ...It is very frustrating...But hey I have lost 30lbs...So I not unhappy with myself...I just want to be done with the process...and start the mantaining....

I agree with you! There are some truly wonderful teachers out there, but there are those who shouldn't be in that profession! It really bothers me about the timing of the contracts, they are stressed as it is, it's not fair to the children!

I know what you mean! I did'nt think I would still be wearing a turtleneck and sweater this close to April!

Robin, I love what you have chosen for your kitchen!! The floor is very nice!! I'm sure your kitchen will look great! We have a dark kitchen. Dark applainces, countertops, cabinets but it doesnt make the kitchen look too dark. It may be because we have a big window facing it and all the light shines in from that window.

But I love the dark cabinets. They are really nice! Did you go with white appliances?
