Who feels like a Thread-Killer? Part 6

Cally, there are a few things we don't like about the kitchen the way it is now. The first thing is the placement of the stove. It's right next to a doorway with no counter top between the stove and the doorway. Very dangerous spot to be in. We need better storage and more counterspace too

Colleen, I think the kitchen is going to have to be totally gutted and started over. The sink will stay in the same place but I don't know for sure how the rest will turn out.

I will take some pictures later and post them and you guys can give me your expert opinions on how you think it should be.

We have a friend that owns a kitchen cabinet business and he is coming next week to look at it. I went to Home Depot today and the man there was very helpful. I got some brochures and some planning pages so I can start from there.

We don't know how long we will be staying at this house so we don't want to put a really expensive kitchen in. Just something in a middle range that will look nice for the rest of the time that we are here and hopefully help the house to sell better when the time comes.

In the pic below are the cabinets that I refinished...DHs GMom had painted them almost black and it made my kitchen soooo dark. There was blonde oak under the paint and they came out really nice with just a coat of polyeurethane. I also redid the countertop/bar that the cake is on. It had wallpaper on it of all things I stripped off the wallpaper and coated that with poly as well.

My next issue is the pink oven and brown sink and stovetop...replacing the oven will be simple but when I do the stovetop and sink I'll have to have new countertops put in at the same time. I'm hoping for a solid counter, no more formica for me.

I intend to keep my house. If I were not keeping it I would look at faux stone formica.

[size=-2]---eta---I wrote this awhile ago. Britt and my nephew Otto are going to an 80's birthday party I HAD to help them do this so I was distracted. I have since cleaned up my back porch a bit. I got two stacks of books together. One for Cally's house and one for Kim's. I need to grab one or two more and I can box em up.

The selections I am sending should last you awhile. They're keepers if you collect.

Anyone else want to help me clean out my book collection while I am in there?

Regarding solid surface countertops, I love them!!! Also shop around there are a bunch of different companies with basically the same product for different prices $$. This is my second house with solid surface.

Ok, now about Survivor-can somebody get that cry baby man a smoke and some coffee already!?! Have you ever seen such a whiney man? There are so many people that would like to be on that show and they pick a guy who smokes 3 packs a day? I really think that they voted wrong-again. I love the show, but this time is not impressing me at all, yet anyway.

AMEN! He should have been voted off....ugh! I think the first immunityidol hint they had and had "why" in quotations every time and the 2nd hint that it was above the water line....is there a "Y" in the shore line? Makes me think that "why" is really a geographical "Y"...

I went out to the grocery store this morning. I only spent $285.00, I think I've forgotten to buy something I usually spend double that amount went I go (remember I don't go very often )

The sun is shining and it feels like a nice spring day, keeping in mind that the temperature is still below freezing but it feels good anyways.

I'm looking at information to get ideas of what to do with the kitchen. Any good kitchen planners amongst the TKers

I LOVE grocery shopping! Which reminds me....Tinknutt - do you want to go to The Fresh Market next weekend? I'm in the mood for gourmet!

Robin - Tinknutt is the BEST decorator and can find a bargain anywhere! Whenever I need help with placing pics on the wall or shopping - I ALWAYS turn to her. Heck I even asked her help when I bought undies! She found some great ones!

Aww.. kids are great!!! I just got an email from my brother saying they are expecting #3! Keep in mind they just had a baby boy who will be 1 yrs old in June... They have an older daughter who is 6!

I meant to reply to your story...it was SO cute! I'm with Kim...he had me a wotr!

I just love babies! We're expecting 2 grandbabies this year. One in about 4 more days and the other (a girl) in June/July...can't wait! Congrats to your son, you & hubby and your brother's family!

We started a file of things like that, and good report cards..and drawings and such with our boys,
They get a hoot out of them now...I wish my mom did it, but there were five of us and we moved alot, so I guess I can see how that would have been hard.

Hey everyone! We just got in... We went out to dinner with the couple whose son I'm going to watch. We had a good time. We ate at a filipino restuarant and to be honest I think I could of cooked better food!

Anyways, afterwards we went to their house and had a look around since they came over earlier and looked around our house... They have a beautiful home!!! I'm so jealous.... their kitchen is soooooooooooo NICE!!!! Makes me want to buy another house!!!

They invited us over tomorrow night for dinner. We're having mediterrean shrimp.. MmmmMmm sounds yummy

Hi U, I'm not a video game person...but thanks for asking.

Good morning Betsy How is the puppy? I'm not up and moving well yet either....Its supposed to get cold tonight and tomorrow. We may actually get a hard freeze!!! So far this winter we've only had a couple of mornings with ice/frost stuck to the car windows. I like the sunshine

Not much happening here today, gonna go look for Valentines gifts (I think I may get DH a massage for couples, kindof cheatin since I'll get the massage with him ). I think I'll also get DH another sport coat, he's been wearing his often, so with another he'll keep dressing up. He looks awesome when he gets gussied up a bit !! Not too over the top though, I'm not into the pretty boy look. DS is getting chocolate and movie passes. Other DS in Va gets a card with a couple of $$. I love all the Holidays!!!! For all of you !!
