Okay a brief trip report from our cruise aboard the
Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas.
We made it to the airport in Detroit with time enough to just sort of "slide into" our seats

Someone decided he needed to take something to the shop and get gas in the van etc the morning that we left

Why it couldn't be done the day before I'll never know

Anyways we made it just barely on time for departure.
The flight was pretty uneventful but it seemed awfully long. We arrived in LA and found the Primetime Shuttle service that we had booked and were soon on our way to the Best Western in San Pedro, California. The room we had was very spacious and quite nice. It had brand new carpet and the bed coverings also looked new.
After check in we decided to go for a walk and look for some food. We walked over to the Port of Calls Village. It is along the water and is quite quaint with lots of little shops and food places selling a lot of fish and shrimp and that type of stuff. We decided to stop at a restaurant that was having a champagne brunch. Pricey but very yummy. I even had a couple of sips of champagne but didn't really like it very much.
After food we went for a walk and toured a small masted sailing ship that was open to the public for free that day. Then beings as it had been a long day we returned to the motel and went to sleep (6 pm California time

) Had a good sleep though and were rested and ready to go in the morning.
We saw this HUGE container ship go by while we were out for our walk. Wow, it was a monstrous sized ship.
