Good Morning :sunny:

Gotta scoot to work. Just catchin up and checkin in..... :cool1:

Have a great day :wizard:

Morning all :wave2:
Rainy here today :umbrella: and cool..
Just hanging out...Not much we can do in the rain :confused3

TTFN

It's not raining outside here yet but it will be soon probably.

It IS wet inside though  The past couple of days we have been find very small puddles on the kitchen floor near the sink. Figured someone was just washing their hands and going for the towel and dripping.

Well, last night I was up in the middle on the night and stepped in a puddle :earseek: This morning I had a closer look and there is water all in the cabinet under the sink :confused3

Wonderful........ just when I think I'm getting somewhere with house repairs (eg. chimney fixed last week, caulking by natural gas vent on roof to try and stop leak) ...... something else comes up :sad2:

It never ends.

Now...... to find someone to fix this latest problem because I'm no plumber ;)

TV?!?!?! Did you say TV?!?!?!? I didn't think you even owned one given how you never watch one!

Yup we do have a tv Kim, actually we have 2 of them :earseek: , 3 really because Alex can watch tv on his computer. I have one not 5 feet away from my computer but I rarely turn it on ;)

Sorry to hear of your plumbing issue Robin...

It is true that when you think things are going good some wrench comes flying right at'cha.

I pray every day that I am able to handle them as they come and not let life overwhelm me. When I do feel overwhelmed I turn my attentions to something good, like making plans for my next trip Home (to WDW.) My vacations are truly for the sake of my sanity :) and I am grateful every day to afford these opportunities.

Colleen, :love2: Got my package today!! Love the pin!! Gonna wear it to work on Monday!! How much do I owe ya? Let me know and I'll get it in the mail to you.

Ophie and TZM you must be getting excited about your trip!! :Pinkbounc Ophie hope your moms doing well.

Ann, Miss you girl!! need to get back on track of going to lunch or something. We've both been tooooo busy!! Give Tom and Holly sugars!!

Robin did you get your sink fixed? Hope it wasn't too much trouble....If I lived closer I'd send my DH, he's a jack of all trades!!

Betsy, Cally, BP  Hope everyone is doing okay.

Had a busy day at work.....so off to the hottub with me and early to bed for church tomorrow. Will keep you all in my prayers, especially Ophies mom and PA. Chat with you all later. :grouphug:

ZJO Threadkillers!

Just a quick note - DD is putting DGS to bed right now. We went to Sorbello's for dinner after church - yummm.....

Robin - did your sink get fixed? I hope so! Tinknutt - they gave us an extra order of bruschetta tonight at Sorbello's...it was SO good!

I'll chat with ya'll later - I'm trying to get laundry done at the same time!

Evening all.

Nope, the sink is still leaking.

Takes a long time to get things fixed around this house  Quite often if I can't fix it myself, it doesn't get done. Of course this problem will have to be fixed because the whole house will flood eventually :earboy2:

Ann, I'm doing laundry too ;)

Wellllll, my Dad, 2 brothers, an uncle, and 3 cousins are plumbers. ;) Long way to go tho. :confused3 In my experience with kitchen sink leaks, it's usually the elbow, or worn out connections on the elbow. Is yours metal or plastic? In any case, a new elbow, a wrench and some putty would do the trick. ;) If it's just the connections, try tightening them first, if that doesn't work, get a new elbow, they're inexpensive. The putty will be the biggest waste, not expensive, just a waste, as you only need a small amount, but have to buy a tub of it. That's MY plumbing course 101. Next class: Toilet running on. (Hmmmm, that's gonna be a problem, as I can't type one of words that names a part in the toilet tank! :earseek: ) :rotfl:

 everyone! Kinda quiet here today. I took Kelly to Brownies, and another Mom picked her up for a play date until 4:00. Then we came home and watched Ella Enchanted before, after and while we ate dinner, and then, THEN!!!!, she FINALLY pulled out her awful looking, sticking straight out, loose tooth!!!! :cheer2: I could've done it, she asked me to do it, but when I tried, I just knew she could do it herself, and she did! (I didn't want her in therapy years from now blaming me for pulling that tooth! :rotfl2: ) Funny thing is, she doesn't have that typical missing tooth look, because the permanent tooth is already coming in, and has been for several months. Hence my insistence. Her other top front permanent tooth is also coming in before the baby tooth is gone (bottom front 2 were pulled for this reason), so I told her that's her next project - get that baby tooth out! :teeth: We already know that genetically she's missing a top tooth so the sooner her dental issues can be resolved, the better. :) We're still several years away from resolving that tho.

So, any late night advice to be had here? How much will the tooth fairy leave??? :confused3

BTW, SOME Chicago residents are going crazy right now, after the White Sox won the first game of the World Series, at home. Im not ANTI-Sox, I'm just PRO-Cubs!! ;) The CITY of Chicago is secondary, so I do have an interest in whether our CITY wins. Make any sense? Remember the Chicago Bulls? I'm not a basketball fan/follower at all, but I was glad the Bulls won all those years. Bears, Hawks, Wolves, Fire - they're ALL Chicago - MY City. ;) Interested, just not a follower/fan, and I won't claim to be one, falsely. jmho for tonight.

Nitey nite all! :cloud9:  Thanks for 'listening'. ;)

 Kim

Wow all those plumbers in your family. That must come in handy at times.

My dad is a former electrician so I make good use of those skills ;)

Actually the leak is not at the elbow, it is coming from somewhere up near the tap on the hotwater side.

The drain pipes are plastic stuff but the actual water pipes are copper.

Maybe Rick will look at it tomorrow but he is having trouble with his neck these past few days. He was in a car accident a few years back and it has left him with lasting neck and back problems. Sometimes he goes along okay and then other times he gets flare ups of problems.

Gosh, Kim, it's been a lot of years since the tooth fairy has been to our house, I can't remember what the going rate was then.

My kids had cute little bunny egg cups that they used to put their teeth in for the tooth fairy to find. Saved that tooth fairy a lot of hunting time :rotfl2:

Yes Robin, almost all times it has come in handy ;) , hence the plumbing 101 and toliet lessons. ;) But, when I had a MAJOR sewer problem, I hired out. They COULD HAVE, and TRIED, to gather a bunch of guys to DO the work, but with something that major - permits, days, etc., being involved - I couldn't wait, and it cost us about $5,000 right before a WDW trip. :guilty: Trust me tho, they did their best getting us by until that point, and they wanted to do what they could, but time was of the essence when you can't use ANY water AT ALL! :earseek:

Maybe your sink fixture is to blame? How old is it? How are the seals? Plumber's daughter/sister/niece/cousin asking. ;)

Copper? WOW! I have SOME copper in my house, but not at the kitchen sink. Only some of the newer stuff done here is copper.

Electrician? Now I could use one of those in my family! Even my father RESPECTS electricity, and only does small tasks. Even he hires out sometimes. ;)

Thanks for trying on the tooth fairy thing. ;) Kelly is actually using Matt's old tooth fairy pillow. It's the cutest thing, a small, tooth-shaped pillow, with a pocket on the back for the tooth, and subsequent money I guess, and it doesn't interfere with her sleeping. An EGG? LOL

Thanks for that link! I subscribed and will check it out. Because it isn't on the current 'list' of exchanges, I miss some of the 'other' exchanges. :guilty: Thanks Again! :goodvibes

It quite possibly is the tap that is to blame. These ones have been dripping for years. We call them our magic taps because when you turn them off, they don't turn off. They don't have the stopping whatever it is called and they just keep turning. You can turn them off or on in either direction :rotfl2: It really freaks out people who don't know. :rotfl: I can turn them off almost 100% of the time just by the feel of them. :cheer2:

About that exchange, Kim, you probably have enough stuff sitting around in your private stash to do it without even having to go out and shop first :earboy2:

A new 'washer' might help. But it sounds like the fixture itself has lost it's grip - that's MY term, not a plumber's. ;)

No stocking - so I HAVE to shop ;) , but I could manage this. I subscribed to the thread. Thanks for the notice. :goodvibes

Yup, you are probably right about that fixture.

Actually I said to Rick that if we have to do any amount of work to fix the leak, we should probably just put new taps in too.

Now to decide what I would like to have, so many new styles......... shoot, only thing I just realized is that there are three holes in the sink for the old fixture. Either have to buy a three holer or maybe they make some sort of cover plate to cover up the old holes :confused3

I was thinking about those kind with the sprayer that you just pull out of the end of the faucet. Anybody got any opinions on what is a good or bad kitchen faucet to get?

1st - WHY are you still up? :confused3 Insomnia again?! :guilty: Sorry. I'm headed to bed right after this.....

Anyway, Yes, they make covers for extra holes in your existing sink fixture, don't worry. I have 4 'holes' and my dinky, dinky sink is V-shaped, in a corner - just TRY replacing that! But I know I can, if I HAVE to.

As for the all-in-one sprayer/nozzle/handle, my Mom (the plumber's wife) has one, and I'm iffy about that one. It's really long, to accommodate the hose and end so, if you have the space, it might be fine, but otherwise, it's a pretty long and tall fixture. Did I make any sense? :confused3 I'm soooo beyond tired. :faint:

Nitey nite everyone!

I went shopping yesterday!

ayup...that's right!

out hunting because of Secret Santa...

can't tell you what I got...

might spoil the surprise for somebody...
