Hi everyone!

Hope ya'll are having a nice night. We had a GREAT night! After church, we went to dinner with a bunch of us - all related.

Sister & hubby didn't find a house today, but they're hopeful. It's been a good day.

Well, this is short, but I want to spend time with them as they leave in the morning.

Ya'll take care - Cruisin - it's getting really short, isn't it?:Pinkbounc

Are you getting worried that I'm an ax murderer yet :smooth:

Yes, I only have 3 more days at home and then I am off. I have to be up and on the road by 4:30 am on Wednesday! to get to the airport. 1 1/hours to the airport, if there is no trouble at the border or on the highways, that leaves 1 1/2 hours to park and get to the terminal etc. before flight leaves at 7:25 am. :bounce:

Nah, I'm not worried about you being an axe murderer! Besides, I'm not taking you anywhere and we're meeting in a public place!

What I am worried about (still) is Jeanne. Here's the latest - looping around and heading right for us!

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT11/refresh/AL1104W5+GIF/191453W5.gif

Ugh! I also read that even people in Pensacola who haven't lost their homes in Pensacola are having a tough time dealing with gas, ice & water shortages. It has to be amazingly frustrating. My heart really goes out to them. In the grand scheme of things, Jeanne blocking our WDW visit is small. Here's the story:

Well, ya'll take care - hope you're having a great day!

Hi Hollyann, well isn't that an interesting direction for Jeanne to be heading in ................ maybe she is a puppy chasing her own tail :p

It looks like we should still be okay for Thursday at least.

Hopefully then Jeanne will decide to head out to sea somewhere and leave the land alone.

So far the weather predictions look pretty good for our whole time in Florida

http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/local_index.asp?zipcode=34741&partner=accuweather

I am trying to fix my gate today!! So I better have a little bit of lunch and get back out there and finish up!!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Like you, I'm thinking sunshiney thoughts!

Good luck with the gate!:sunny: :sunny:

Ya'll aren't going to believe this! We're #1 on the threadboards (after the usual alerts & important information). Threadkillers Rock!

I agree! How ya doin? I just woke up from a lovely nap! I'm currently watching football. Does your hubby watch (American) football? It's seems to have surged past baseball as the national passtime!

Looking forward to Thursday!

Hi Ann

I hope you enjoyed your football watching. I could use a nap right now ;)

My husband is not into sports. About the only sport he will watch on tv is tennis. He likes to watch that for some reason.

In fact there are no sports watching people in our house at all :D

:rockband: Love that music!!!

Hello ladies!! Whatever are we gonna do without you here later this week to keep this thread bumped up?!  You're great to stop in here and post during the day. We'll miss ya! :(

Since neither of you will be around for your BIG DAYS,

:bday: Robin & Ann :cake: :rockband: :bday: :cake: :flower1: :cool1: :bday: :grouphug: :goodvibes :bday:, and PLEASE some :sunny: for you BOTH!!!!:bday:

oooooo, a party :teeth: , Thanks Kim, I love it!!!!

That music surprises me all of the time, because it takes so long to start after you open the thread.

I am sure that you will get along fine without me for a few days. Ann will only be gone the one day and she will fill you in on our mini- DIS meet, I'm sure!!!!

I will post pictures when I get back, I hope. Maybe the sun will be shining where we take the picture :smooth: :teeth:

Ann, looks like Jeanne has decided to turn the other direction according to the latest predictions that I have seen. Maybe she will leave Florida alone after all. I hope so, because I don't really want any bumpy airplane flights either!!

ME, TOO!!! But, didn't YOU put it here?! ;) :p

Well, I purposely took Friday off from exercising, and what did I do, but take a fall Friday night, possibly breaking my 4th left toe (and no, it's not hairy ;)). So I HAD to take Sat off. Today, I put the gymmies on, and tightened those laces, and managed 44 minutes of a 3 mile walk tape. It was cut short when DD came running into the house, SCREAMING, that she was stung by a bee! So much for cool down and stretches. LOL

Update on the missing $920 deposit.....I went online and printed a Lost/missing/stolen check affidavit. So tomorrow, after my boss notarizes my signature, I will fax it out, and PRAY for a replacement check.

Slight, irritating update about DD.....Her 5 spelling words for the WEEK, are boy, girl, is, has and like. They don't have a DIS smilie that's mad enough for how I feel. I called about the 'gifted' school application, and they said they aren't in yet, call back early October. Testing is in Feb or March, so even this route will take some time. :( In the meantime, DD has finished her homework that's due FRIDAY, plus quite a few extra activities, and continues to be :bored: :bored: :bored:. :sad2: Besides venting here, I vented a BUNCH to my Mom last night, and she tells me it's a blessing....I disagreed, and said it's a curse in many ways. I'm paying for private school tuition, where she's learning nothing, AND paying for extra-curricular activities to keep her busy. (It's not about the money, honestly) I may as well transfer her to the public school, for free, where she can be ignored just as easily. I MUST TALK WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND THE TEACHER TOGETHER, SOON. I will pray that they don't want to lose DD as a student, and can come up with some actual learning material for her.

As my friends here, please tell me, honestly, if I'm too obsessed over this. (Forget that, I know I am) But, I NEED objective opinions in order to carry myself correctly into any meeting I'll have.

TIA

Yes, Kim I DID put the music there but it still surprises me every time it starts ::yes:: :faint:

That's too bad about your unhairy toe being broken. I hope it feels better soon. Did your daughter survive the bee sting all right??? No allergic reactions.???

I hope that you get your money back. That is too much to lose.

I have to go get the lazy bones out of bed for school. I will get back to you about the school issue later.

Have a good day everyone!!

:sunny: :sunny:

Good Morning,

Kim - sorry about your un-hairy toe - that's gotta hurt! Also, I completely agree with your frustration with your daughter. Have you spoken with the teacher again? I'd give her one more chance and let her know that you are considering yanking her out of the school and finding someone else. Please keep us posted. Also, good luck with the check! Did you make up your mind on the Cubs/WDW trip?

BTW, I was thinking of you last night (part 2 of my Santa theory). Here's my theory for you: You seem to LOVE the cubs and anything with Chicago, so I think your family (yours or hubby's side) is either multi generational firemen or police with the city. Or, you're an attorney with the city. My other theory is your hubby plays for the Cubs. Am I close?

Cruisin (oops! Robin)! Annie is happy! Annie is happy! I'm SO thrilled to see the weather. I checked again this morning (dog with a bone, thingy goin' on!). It's wonderful! I'm SO excited. I'm glad you're taking a camera. I never do. The last time I took a camera on a trip, besides children's weddings, was when Tom and I spent a week in Rome at Christmas time. We lived in Sicily at the time, so after the first visit, I left the camera at home.

My theory (theory - word for the day!) is - I know what I look like, I don't need reminders! That and I take yucky pics. However, I'd love to show one to the threadkillers.....still don't know how to post them - that leaves..................Y-O-U! Can't wait!

Well, I've got to get the dog to the groomers, walk my 3+ miles, volunteer on the phones, then get home, get some stuff done and hubby and I are volunteering Mon-Wed nights registering voters at a local fastfood restaurant!

Ya'll take care!

Good morning all! Busy weekend and off to another busy day today. Hope everyone up north here is staying warm--I didn't want to crawl out of bed today!

BP...hope you are feeling better!

Talk to you guys later.

:wave2: Ann

Just passing a few minutes here.

Lazy daughter has to be at school in less than 15 minutes and is just now getting out of the tub:earseek: and she has to get dressed, do her makeup and we still have to drive 5 minutes + to the school.

I wonder if she will even make it to school the whole time I am away. Oh well, I guess it is time for her to stand on her own two feet and make those decisions for herself ::yes:: I will still worry though, because that is a mother's job

Sounds like you have a busy week planned :p

Morning Luckymommy, I don't know the temperature out today but I put my jeans on this morning........... yuck!!!!!

Well she threw up and says she has a sore throat and a slight fever. The throwing up part might be due to the pills (birth control) she started taking to try and control her hormone fluctuations and her dizzy spells and other assorted problems, which we think are being caused by them.

In 10 days of school, she has already missed 1 full day, 2 classes on another day and now at least one class today!!! I am hoping she will go to school at least for her other 2 classes today. She can't afford to miss this much time at school. Especially if she wants to go on the Disney Cruise in January for which she will have to miss a whole week!!! Hopefully after this she will have smooth sailing ::yes::

Kim, I don't think you are being too obsessive about your daughter. She is counting on you to help her to reach her full potential and you are definitely trying to do that for her.

It seems to me as if the teacher really is not trying to do anything to help your daughter. How hard would it be for her to throw in a few more spelling words every week. She could even put them out there for the rest of the class to do too, as sort of a bonus. The teacher might be surprised at how many students would benefit from this.

Of course I have never been a teacher before so I don't know how hard it is to help an enriched student. But honestly I don't think it should be that difficult. All she needs to do is provide more of the same style of work. Twice as many math problems for your daughter to do, more spelling, harder books to read etc. Being at the grade one level (correct???) how difficult is it to make up more addition and subtraction questions???

I know your daughter wants work that comes from the school so that it is "school work". Could you possibly explain to her that the teacher is so busy with the other students that she doesn't have time to get her more work and then go out and get a school style workbook that they sell in the stores yourself and get her to work on that??? Maybe she would accept the work then.

At the least, arrange a meeting with the teacher and the principal and see in what direction your daughter's education is likely to be going. You should have an idea after that meeting as to whether you will have any co-operation from the school and then you can proceed from there.

My honest opinion ................ if you don't help your kids, nobody else will .............. so keep on fighting for what you think she needs::yes::

Hi everyone! Cruisin - I hope your daughter feels better soon. I had to take BC Pills for a while for the same reason - didn't do me a darn bit of good. Best of luck. I agree with you - I hope she doesn't miss so much school that she can't go on the cruise. If she misses the cruise - it will teach her a valuable lesson, though. Not one I'd want to learn! Did you see that Tropical Storm Lisa is formed? It won't do anything for our trip, but we'll have to keep an eye on it here in Florida! Cruisin, Tom and I talked about our trip the entire time we walked. Can't wait!

Hi luckymommyx2! I'm so glad you posted again! How is everyone? How are the kids? Any of them in school yet?

BrerPapa - are ya doin' okay? I hope the flu is gone! We miss your cheery santa presence! Come back soon and feel better!

Hi Kim! I saw your post on the WISH boards. Girlfriend, you are SO close to a new clippie! You must be so excited. Every time I enter a challenge, I don't lose weight, but I lose it all between the challenges.....what's up with that? It's not going to stop me from entering them. As long as I lose weight, I don't care when it happens!

Well, ya'll take care and keep on postin!

After the early morning I had, it was a reassuring pleasure to come here and read your posts Robin & Ann, thank you. Robin, your post was RIGHT-ON!!

I got to school all ready to mention a meeting, and I was reminded that teacher is out for 2 days. As luck would have it though, the principal is DD's sub, so I jumped right in and asked him for a meeting when teacher returns. He was very relieving to my nerves, and he also mentioned the special ed teacher's name twice, so he's going to ask her also for material. I made sure to get in the name of the other school, and the application I'm looking for, so I hope he knows I'm serious about DD's future. Only one thing he said bothered me, which I've heard before, and that was: That by about 3rd grade the rest catch up. Well, that's fine, I hope they do, but in the meantime, (the next 2 years!), my DD is not going to sit around being bored!! Instead, I replied "good, that'll be nice, but someone still has to be the smartest". :teeth:

I don't think of my family as cop/fireman, but my FIL is retired fireman, and BIL is a Chicago cop, currently on military assigment, air force reserves. In my family, I have an uncle and a cousin that are Chicago cops, and a cousin or 2 that work for the sheriff of the county where they live.

Or, you're an attorney with the city.No way, just work for a lawyer. ;)

My other theory is your hubby plays for the Cubs. I WISH!!!!!:faint: He is a city employee though, just not Chicago.

Am I close?Pretty darned close.

Kim, I am glad that you got a chance to talk to the principal at least. Now you don't have to sit there and stew about it until the teacher returns.

I'm not sure how much truth there is to the others catching up. Maybe some will but honestly if one child is ahead and continues to learn and stay ahead, then how do the others manage to catch up?
