Who ever uses the common rooms?

I'm just curious - how often and for what purpose do you use the common rooms in your DVC resort? Reason I ask is at VWL, I never see anyone in these rooms. They are very attractive and nice rooms and I like the fireplace, but the place always seems dead to me. The same goes for the common room at HHI. It is a really nice room, but nobody is ever there. Not sure what prompted this question, other than I'm just curious this morning.

We love the Iron Spike Room(s) at VWL and use them on every trip. Both DH and I bring "vacation reading" with us and most afternoons, when not at the pool, I will sit in those huge leather rockers and read. Of course, they are so comfortable I usually end up doing more napping than reading! While never crowded, there are usually a few other people there.

We've sat by the fireplace in the "lobby" of the VWL and we've seen groups in the Iron Spike room. It's because of these facilities that we think our family/friends December visit will work. We didn't have enough points to get larger villas, we have 3 studios and hope to meet and socialize in the common areas. I know, I know it couldn't be done, but if the villas at VWL had fireplaces, I would probably never leave the room!

I travel with three women (DW and 2 DD's), so I find the Iron Spike room to be a nice refuge from time to time. Great for reading! :)

the common rooms at WVL were just a beautiful place to sit and just relax and read. when i stayed at WL i walked over to WLV because we just bought into dvc at SSr and was curious as to how other dvc areas looked. i could definitly see myself using this room to relax and enjoy an early morning coffee in a nice climate controlled area. i also plan to use to common area at SSR in the same way. these areas ae just too nice not to utilize. i also plan t use this area to just sit and wait for the rest of my family to get ready for our trip to a park.

I'm glad to hear that no one much uses Big Murggie's at HHI!! I thought it was mostly empty when we were there in October due to the season. We spent hours there after the sun went down. Playing poker, and Risk and pool. We closed down the place every night. There was one other family there one night. We plan on using it in May!

My kids used the DVC clubhouse at BWV a lot. They spent most of their pool time in the quiet pool -- the themed pool got old for them real quick due to loud, obnoxious chair-hogging crowds. I'm right now looking at a pencil holder on my desk that my daughter made at craft time.

We never used the common area at BCV but saw other people hanging out there. It's beautiful!! I don't recall seeing a similar area at BWV. OKW has a small sitting area in the reception area which is not conducive for hanging out during a stay (except at check in). We use the community center at least once every stay on our days off.

We never stayed at VWL, but that common area seems kind of dark.

We used the common room at OKW when we were there. We played Fuss-ball, borrowed movies, and the kids played with the big checker board. They kept wanting to go back - but we were usually too pressed for time. Hopefully the next time we go back we'll have more time to just hang out!

I spend time in Big Murgie's Den every trip. Almost every morning, I go down there for a while (we've always been in the lodge building) to read the paper. Then in the late afternoon, we return for cookies and pool playing.
I also spend time in the common room (can't remember its name) in BCV, reading there.

At OKW the library is the common room that I know of and it is rarely used.

the commuity room is also a common area.

sometimes - both the library and the community room.

I just wish we could take the books to our rooms.....

I'm sure someone uses them, but most of the time when I walk through them, they're completely empty.

I enjoy the beautiful rooms at BCV (don't remember the names.) The one to the right of the entrance hall with the T.V. and also the large one as you walk from the Beach Club to the villas. These rooms are a wonderful place to read while waiting for a Mears pick-up to the airport.

DH & I both spend time in the Iron Spike room this past Oct

We used the Spike Room/Lobby almost daily on our trip last week. I loved sitting in the rockers and listening to the music. One morning my one DD and I were awake before my other DD and my DH. That left one person sleeping in each room of our 1BR. DD and I went and sat in front of the fire. It was great! We read and talked for about an hour.

I also took advantage of the BCV Common rooms one night when my DD didn't feel well, again we had one person asleep in each of our rooms and it was easier to access my sick DD downstairs.

I wish the boardwalk had another room other than the main lobby.

When we were at VWL in Dec., there was a big party down by the fireplace every night drinking "hot chocolate" (and, by the way they were acting, there was probably something else in there, too...or, maybe they were just high on WDW....either way, they were having SOO much fun...but, not in an inappropriate way...we never heard a sound when we got in our room). It was SOOO nice....it reminded me of being a ski lodge. It totally added to the Nortwest feel. I would've been sad to not come back to the room and see them there. They all had on the cutest "ski sweaters". I almost took a picture.

I've even used the "poofs" in the BWVs hallways. I'm an early riser and my kids and husband sleep in. So I change out of jammies into whatever I can pull on quickly and quietly, and slip out with a book. So if you ever see someone sitting around with bed head at 6:00am, nose buried in a book, say hi!

(BTW, I almost never see anyone in the halls)

Some of our most enjoyable times at VWL this past December was in the Iron Spike Room.
I read in front of the fire while my husband and kids played checkers. It was very relaxing!

At SSR the kids had a blast in the Community Center playing games, foozball, etc. In fact my son started praying for rain so we'd be forced to spend more time there.
I don't remember however any common rooms such as Iron Spike at SSR. Did I just miss them?

They do,The Bellevue room. Very nice place to read or nap. :)

We always use the Iron Spike room at VWL.

I've used the Iron Spike room to rock DS when he came down with strep throat while we were there. Since there wasn't a rocker in the room, we went down so I could put him to sleep.
