Who else loves their Gray? I know I can't be the only one

No way do I love my grey! I'm 42 and have a few here and there and I started coloring my hair last year because I think grey hair makes you look way older than you really are.

I've never colored my hair nor plan to. I like my black hair but won't try to hide the grey that's started to come in. Starting with a patch in the front... The only thing I was suggested was years ago to put a permanent in it... My hair was straight as a board then (darn Native American heritage!) and I felt that there was nothing I could do to it. Now that I wear it short, it's started to have a bit of a wave to it when it grows out.

I'm 40 & have a good amount of grey. I like it-& I refuse to color it. During those wonderful 80's I did damage by perming & coloring -not enough to have it fall out or anything, but I like it, it's me. Sometimes people think I'm older-but then they see my face kinda kid-ish due to my freckles and they really aren't sure how I am!! That's ok with me-I know my hairdresser tries to convince me every now & again-bad thing is once you start you gotta keep it up-I'd rather spend my $$ elsewhere!

Born Redhead here.... and going white. I don't mind it. I have fine, straight hair and the white is scattered thru it. My dd's would like me to color my hair...they both have had many adventures coloring their own hair.

I was told many times by older Redheads that "redheads either go bald or go white"

so I am hoping for a whole headful of bright white... ;)

My mom is a redhead, and while I wasn't lucky enough to get her red hair, I am lucky enough to be going white and not gray! I would say I'm about 35% (white) 65% right now, but at the rate they're breeding and multiplying I'm prob going to be half and half by 40. (I'm 37). All that being said..I love it and very seriously doubt I would ever dye it. I've always liked the way salt and pepper hair looked when it's a nice clean white or silver!

My hair was gray and I liked it. My daughter who at the time was in the 5th grade said I looked like the oldest mom in the class - which I was - but it upset her, so I colored it.

Looking back and seeing pictures of myself with gray hair, I have to admit that it did age me. Some women though look fantastic.

I love my gray! But I'm over 50 so that may be part of why it works for me. You do have to change your makeup and wardrobe colors to work with it. I also changed my hairstyle when I went gray.

.....I agree with the PP that said "I will not be a slave to the gray roots."

I imagine just a few years of color would pay for a trip to Disney....

I'm in this camp, too! - I really don't want to start an expensive habit that I would have to keep up. Right now (at 39) I have a little gray in the front. I actually find it nice to finally not get carded in restaurants.

That's a no-brainer for me.... I'll go gray and go to Disney!!

At this very minute I am sitting with color on my hair!!! Can't stand the grey color, mine's an unattractive grey mixed with my dirty blonde color.

Luckily, as a licensed cosmetologist (even though I don't work as one), I don't spend over $20 a year on supplies. A few of my friend's go to a high end salon in town and pay close to $200 :scared1: on a cut and color!!!! Now, if I was in that position, I would probably learn to love my grey!

I have EARNED every grey hair in my head, so I'm keeping them. I've never colored my hair so I figured why start now. I've made it almost 42 without it!!

my Mom was a beautiful salt and pepper gray, so she just left it alone but I seem to be getting washed out and dull not a pretty sight.. so i color..

If you color it yourself it isn't that expensive, and at 42 I have been carded at least 5 times in the past year and I love it!!! :thumbsup2 What's even funnier is that my DH is 8 years younger than me and hasn't been carded since he was a teenager!! :rotfl:

My gray is very mousy and makes me looked washed out, so yes, I color it. I think it looks better colored and it gets really shiny. I'm 51 and will probably be coloring at least into my 60's. My dsis's are 66 and 61, they both color, are very fit and dress nicely, and they look great. I think on some people with the right skin tone and color gray, it looks wonderful, especially with a great cut and nice silver jewelry.
