Who else is sleepless the night before going to WDW?

I LOVE sleeping, hence my screen name:teeth: . But, when it comes to WDW, I am the last one to sleep and the first one awake before we leave and during the entire trip. *Wake up everyone, wake up everyone*

Yeah, the whole day before we leave I spend inside cleaning my house (can't stand coming home to a dirty house either, not to mention all the laundry you have to do :sad2: when you return) and doing last minute packing while my husband is outside mowing grass, checking fluids in the truck, cleaning out the truck, etc. We start packing some of our things in the truck that night and throw the last bag or two in the truck before we leave in the morning. It is easier that way for us.

Tylenol PM for me too. But DH decided for our next trip in December, we are leaving at 7:00 PM landing at 9:30. Now we will be rested and ready to go for the first day of our trip. We are tired of the getting up at 5:00 AM deal and being all tired that first day. I think it will be well worth the extra hotel night.

We stay in Richmond Hill, GA, just below Savanah...it is about 4 to 4/12 hour drive from there to front door of POR :cool1: . We stay at the Hampton Inn.. I believe it is exit 87 off I-95. We have been staying at this hotel every year since they opened (2000). It is very clean and very nice. Their exact address is 4679 Highway 17, Richmond Hill, GA 31324...direct number is (912) 756-2272. They have a contenintal (sp?) breakfast in the morning...alot of variety. We usually get up and time it right as they start serving breakfast, we check-out, grab something to eat real quick and off we go. Usually on road by 7:30 ish at the latest. Usually arrive at POR around 10:30 - 11:00 (depending on traffic) and that is stopping at the Florida Welcome Center for photo opps.

FYI, there is a couple different hotels right there..Econo Lodge is right next door...I do not remeber the other ones, there was a brand new one being built on the other side of the Hampton Inn when we stayed last summer.

Good luck!!!

Thanks :Pinkbounc ....getting excitied!! :bounce:

glad I'm not the only one going  to have a clean house before vacation. Yes, and why is it that the rest of the year doesn't matter as much? :confused3

Your Welcome!! Hope you enjoy the ride..we like to drive there...it makes the trip so much more fun!!

my sleeping problems start wayyyyy before that!!! we leave in 19 days and i've had trouble falling asleep for several weeks!!! as soon as my head hits the pillow i start thinking and planning and end up too excited to sleep. i can't wait until we're actually there--by then i'll be so tired that hopefully i'll just pass out at night!!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I think the best question would be..." who CAN sleep the night before you go to Disney ?????"

i get so excited i cant sleep... and then make up for my exhaustion by sleeping on the plane ride there heh!

Remember the Disney commercial where the kids are acting up in bed and the parents go in and the little boy says "I'm too excited to sleep!" Yep that's me and my dh. We lay in bed for hours talking about the trip and what we are looking forward to. And of course there is the endless, questions about what was all packed. It's kinda fun really.

And I thought it was just me. Hubby snoring away at 10 pm, and me wide awake at 4 am LOL. I do have to leave the house clean for the cat sitter..might as well clean, I can't sleep.

I haven't slept since I got down to the 2 week mark... I keep having wonderful disney dreams and waking up wishing I was there about 2 hours after I fell asleep... Of course watching my Disney planning DVD before bed each night may not be helping.... :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I have tried different methods to rest the night before. Last trip, we decided to fly out in the afternoon so we would be rested. Wrong, wide awake until about 3 am then up again at 5 am. Why bother staying in bed when you're wide awake. Might as well fly out early and not waste time. Other trips our flight was at 6:30 am so I didn't even bother trying to sleep! After all I'd have to up at 3 am to get to the airport by 4:30 am.

This trip, we're doing the park & fly and leaving at 9:30 am. I hope it works better. We're also leaving on a Monday so I'll be off on Sunday and be able to get things ready.

PS - I use exedrin pm and often rely on it during the trip as well!

Living in California we always have to leave at the crack of dawn to go east in order to make our destination at a decent hour. Our flights generally leave at 6:30 am, which means arriving at the airport at 5:15 am... which means leaving the house at 4:45 am... which means getting up at 3:30 am.... after staying awake until 12:01 am JUST to print boarding passes (if we fly SWA!) or (usually) to finish packing!
It's a good thing we're always so excited on that first day or we'd never make it!

I can sleep anywhere, any other time of the year...

EXCEPT WHEN I'M GOING TO DISNEY, AND WHILE I'M THERE!!!

Who can sleep when there is so much to think about???

I've already started my sleepless nights last night - rereading the Unofficial Guide!! LOL!

I never get any sleep the night before I go to Disneyworld. I lay there in bed all excited...thinking about how I'll actually be at my most favorite place in the world!!! I also get thoughts of how I can't believe that there's no more waiting. No more watching my countdown counter...the time has come...I also wonder if I've forgotten to put anything in my suitcase.

Who else is sleepless the night before? Is there any cure? Any suggestions are appreciated!

:wizard:

I try and get at least an hour of sleep. That way I'm not dragging the next day and can run around. This year I talked my mom into flying down Christmas Day night so we get to the resort around 11:30 instead of flying down at 6:00 AM on the 26th. That way I'll get some sleep and can even nap on the 25th and sleep that night so the 26th I'm ready to go.

One thing I've done in the past is get up two to three hours earlier the morning before I leave so I'm tired. It helps me fall asleep a little easier.

My DH and I are leaving later this week and I am already having those sleepless nights. The worse is that our flight is not until 7pm and I have to work all day. You all know where my mind will be!

I never get good sleep before a trip...this time our flight leaves at 7am but we are staying near the airport at a hotel so maybe that will help but we are prepared to take it easy so little sleep won't be that bad for us!
