Anyone else out there going on this cruise - I know there are at least two other families going, from the threads I've read, and I've exchanged threads with one (Hi DisneyTish!!) . This will be our first Disney cruise and we are very excited. We (DH, DS - 16 yrs & DS - 18 yrs) are staying in WDW first, and then taking the DCL bus to Port Canaveral. Hope for good weather and a great time - I know we'll have a great time -just hope the weather holds out!!

Can you believe it? Finally almost here! I'm in panic mode, trying to get all the last minute things done and trying not to forget anything! Our cat is very unhappy - she sees the suitcases out and knows something is up. I just spoke with Shirley at The Perfect Gift - after reading this board I thought it would be nice to have a small surprise in the stateroom waiting for the boys. She is every bit as nice and helpful as everyone on the board has said. She helped me pick out some items for a "not too expensive" gift basket for each. I just wanted to make it a little more special and memorable for them. Anyway - she said the weather is just beautiful there - shorts and bathing suit weather for certain! I've spoken with the chefs at the WDW restaurants that we have PS at - my husband has Celiac Disease and has to be on a wheat free / gluten free diet. They were all so nice and accommodating. WDW truly is wonderful for families! I've been having second thoughts on the glass bottom boat ride - am tempted to cancel and arrange the banana boat rides for the boys. People on this board haven't had too many nice things to say about the glass bottom boat, but rave about the banana boats. Budget wise, I'd rather not do both, as they are also doing parasailing that AM. Are you and your family still doing the glass bottom boat? Well, I wish you & your family a safe trip, and maybe we'll run into each other onboard. We are in cabin 7062.

I know what you mean. I am in panic mode too. Always think I am forgetting something....

We are still doing the glass bottom boat but I also had considered cancelling because of what I have read on the boards. But with my DS (16) doing the wildside and my DDs (12 and 9) snorkling with us (we are bringing our own equipment) we decided to do the boat too. You see, my DH is almost blind (ok, that's an exageration) and doesn't think he will be able to see very well snorkeling. He doesn't wear contacts and we don't want to invest in a prescription mask. He figures the only way he will see under the water is on the boat. LOL:earseek:

We will be boarding the day after my DH's BDay so I have had disney decorate our stateroom and have ordered champaign and chocolate strawberries (YUM - Ok maybe that's for me...lol).

Hope we meet you onboard....from the looks of things there are not many from these boards on the same boat as us. We are in room 8576.

I CAN'T WAIT. We are leaving for WDW on Saturday morning. 3 DAYS. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The champagne & chocolate strawberries sound wonderful!! Now you've got me thinking...........nice way to begin the cruise!! My birthday was 4/1, so we're calling this my "birthday celebration" ! I told my family I didn't want any gifts on the day of my b'day - but warned them they'd better bring $$$ to buy me something nice on this trip!!!

We leave on Friday for WDW - my son found out this week that his friend and his family are leaving on the same flight - as we say around here "only in RI"! They are staying off site, and not going on the cruise - much to Jeff's disappointment. We hope to meet up with them at some point.

I'm going to pack tomorrow and probably finish up on Thursday - I have piles and piles in our bedroom of things to get packed. Having to go to work this week is really cramping my style!! As my DH said - I need a week off before the vacation just to get ready!! :jumping1:

Hey - we are only one deck away from you! Do you have a veranda? We splurged and booked a cabin with one - I tend to be a bit claustrophobic and thought it would help.
:Pinkbounc

Take care,
Carol

 Hi! I am taking my Mom on the April 15th Wonder cruise.

Is there a DIS meet set up yet? This is a first cruise for both of us. Hope to meet you there.

smilingmouse

pediatric-rnp, I most definately agree with you about "work". It is just getting in my way...not enough time to do everything. In fact, I should be working right now but am on this board talking to you instead LOL..(ok it is my lunch hour).

We do have a veranda and I am thrilled. Can't wait to spend an early morning drinking a cup of java out there. :hyper:

I am mostly packed with just a few little things to do. Everyone else is also except DS. He says he can pack in 5 minutes on Friday night. YIKES. I say don't come crying to me when you forget something.....Teenagers... .

smilingmouse, I don't think there is a DIS meet set up for our cruise yet, at least I haven't heard of one. We are first time cruisers also and haven't run across too many people on the same cruise as us. Hope you and you mom have a great time!

2 days to WDW. Wonder here we come.

Tish

Hi smilingmouse! Guess it's just you & your mom, disneyTish & her family & me and mine on this cruise!! LOL! No one else has replied to the thread I started. I envy you being able to take your mom on a cruise - my mom would have just loved going on this with us. She passed away in 1997, but she is in our hearts every day.
 Cherish every moment you are able to spend with your mom. As Disney Tish said, we are also first time cruisers, and haven't heard about a DIS meet. Being a 3 days cruise , there probably isn't a lot of time.
Hope you and your mom have a wonderful cruise - maybe we'll run into each other!
carol

DisneyTish - I am now in total panic mode - you are PACKED???!!! I thought I was organized and doing good until I read your note - now I'm totally depressed (not really - just sounds dramatic!) - and of course what am I doing about it - I'm online writing this rather than getting those clothes into the suitcase!

Coffee in the morning, jammies still on, sitting on the verandah watching the waves - I don't think life can get much better!!::yes:: Sure beats laundry, dishes and cleaning!

Your idea of ordering the champagne for the cabin has been on my mind - I called DCL today and ordered it for our cabin too - great idea. From what I read on the board, a lot of people go to the sailing party for awhile, and then down to their cabin, and sit on the verandah sipping their champagne or wine while the ship heads out - sounds nice and relaxing. :Pinkbounc Hopefully I'll still make it to dinner!!LOL

2 more days to WDW; 8 more days to cruise!
Carol

Hey, Hey

First Disney Cruise for us. 2 daughters, 8 and 10 years.

Any great tips for first timers, besides get the Palo reservations quick?

I amy never leave the verenda.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi all,

I haven't been checking the boards lately and was surprised this a.m. to see new listings for our cruise. I am sailing with my dh, dd 17, dd 14 and I'm not sure how to refer to my mom (grandma). My mom is a bigger kid than all of us and is a cruisaholic. She' always wanted to go on the Disney cruise so I'm glad we are finally doing it. We are also leaving for Disneyworld and Universal Studios Friday. I've been laughing reading your posts because it sounds like my house. My husband and kids are calm as can be and I'm beyond panicked worrying about how we're going to be ready!
Where in RI do you live. We're from upstate NY and have good friends in Jamestown, RI. We love it there.
Anyway it's good to see that there are other teens going. I think my girls were worried it would be all small children.

we leave wednesday night to fly out thursday. we are just doing the cruise. me, dh, ds, dd, my mom, sister and her son. it is the first time flying and cruising for my nephew. we are all so excited. unfortunately, we forgot to book early on swimming with dolphins and string rays. oh well, there is still so much to do. we have second dining. anyone else then?

Now were talking!!!! It's great to talk to all of you who will be on board when we are - Welcome. (We have also run across Imalemon on these boards who will be joining us on 4/15)

scdemers, I agree about the teens.. My DD and DS were hoping I would run across other teens who would be onboard, though my DD with be a little over a month till she is 13. She doesn't think she will enjoy the lab and CAN'T go to common grounds so she is hoping to find others 12 YOs with the same "problem". My DS is doing the wildside on CC and is very excited.

MMcCarthy - Welcome you are going to have a blast. We have first seating for dinner but I have thought about changing to late because we are on central time so that would be 5 pm to us (yikes, sounds like a Seinfeld episode)! Haven't decided yet.

bob snaborn. I have a DD 9 that can't wait to play in the lab, maybe your DDs and her will meet up. We are 1st timers also so no tips at this time.

Sorry, didn't mean to put you in a panic. LOL :teeth:

It is just that I have been driving my family crazy planning this cruise since August. FINALLY everyone in my house (except my lazy DS) is ALMOST as excited as me. My DH will now call me from work and ask me questions and tell me how many days, etc...(So funny...FOFLMBO).

I still think I am forgetting something all the time, so don't feel loney...I AM IN PANIC MODE TOO....of my own design ;)

Congrats on the Champagne (great minds think alike  ). AND when you are in your Jammies, drinking your coffee bright and early, watching the sunset on Friday morning....look over the railing up to deck 8 and I will give you a wave

YOU ARE LEAVING TOMORROW. Can you believe it. I think I am jealous and it is ONLY one day sooner than me. LOL

Have a great time. "I'm toooo excited to sleep":Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

AND when you are in your Jammies, drinking your coffee bright and early, watching the sunset on Friday morning...
Sorry, I mean SUNRISE on Friday morning. (I can't think straight).

How great is this - so many nice people on this cruise - and all of first timers!!

DisneyTish - I think my co-workers were just as happy as me to see this vacation finally arrive for me - I've been driving them nuts asking their opinions.Like you - I've also driven my family crazy - we've had this booked for a year and a half. My DH said he's surprised that I didn't start packing a year ago. LOL! They'll be sorry for all the eye rolling they have done when they see what a great time this will be for all of us!! (I have to admit tho - I do tend to go overboard with planning details to perfection - do they have a support group for people like me? - and I have a feeling DisneyTiish you would probably also be eligible to join with me! LOL) "Sunset on Fri AM "- HA HA - sounds like you need a vacation!!

cdemers - What a coincidence - I am from up-state NY - Worcester, NY - tiny village on RT 7 between Oneonta & Cobleskil - near Cooperstown. What town are you in? When I was small, we also lived in LaGrangeville for 2 yrs. We live in northwestern RI now - not far from the MA and CT border. (My DH is a native Rhode Islander. )Course you have to realize in RI nothing is further than 45-50 min away! Jamestown is beautiful - I also have a friend who lives there. We are also leaving for WDW on Friday - also plan to spend a day (Monday) at Universal (but not overnight). Where in WDW are you staying? We are in the Beach Club resort. Your mom will have a ball with you, I'm sure!! My 18 yr DS old is very worried that this will be a "kids cruise" despite what I've been telling him. it didn't help that he watched the Travel channel special on the cruise and saw only small kids - no teens. My 16 yo DS could care less - he is just happy to be on a cruise!

Bob Snaborn - Like DisneyTish said - we have no words of wisdom for anyone - all first time cruisers. As they say, ignorance is bliss!! You are on our deck - we're in 7062.

McCarthy - We have first seating for dinner - I just wanted to make sure we have time to enjoy the evening activities. Check again onboard about the excursions - there may be cancellations you can squeeze into. Otherwise, I'm sure you'll still have a blast! Hey - it's still better than being at work!!
:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We're a little further north. We live in a small town called Brunswick between Troy and the Vermont border. My daughter goes to summer camp in Cooperstown. Your boys sound like my girls. The younger one ( age 14) is so much more carefree. She's very excited. We are staying at the All Star Movies for 4 nights ( we needed two rooms so the more luxurious hotels were not in the budget). The good thing, though is my mom has the girls with her. Yippee! Then we are staying at the Hard Rock Hotel for 2 nights. I'm really looking forward to that because with a Universal Studios hotel key you get front of the line access on all the rides. My family ( except me ) love all those coasters which I'm sure Easter week will have extremely long lines. Has anyone stayed there before? This is our first time.

Susan

How nice to have your mom with you to babysit - and keep the girls in her room at night!!::yes::

Are you anywhere near Sand Lake? My cousin and her family live there and we visit often.

We've never stayed at Universal - this is the first time we've even spent a day there, but my son's friend and his family stayed there for 3 days last fall & loved it. i think they stayed at the hard Rock also.

Know what you mean about the rides - my sons love the coasters - the higher and wilder the better! They did NOT inherit that from me or my husband . I did go on the Rockin Rollercoaster the last time, and did enjoy it, but I think it was because it was in the dark and I was seated deep into the car. I hated space mountain - thought I was going to fall out for sure! My favorite ride is still Buzz Lightyear - isn't that pathetic!

I hope the lines aren't too long, but I'm afraid they will be. We get up early and get to the parks before they open. Then at noon we come back to the hotel to swim and relax, and then head out again in the late afternoon for the evening. I'm getting to old to be on the go all day!!LOL:bounce:

The Beach Club was a splurge for us - but we've been saving for a year and a half. It's a sentimental visit - our last big family vacation before Greg goes off to college. I'm just not dealing too well with him being a Senior this year. Great to see them grow up and learn to be independent, but heartbreaking to think of the family dynamics changing! It doesn't seem like 18 years ago that we brought him home from the hospital!!

What time is your flight tomorrow? Ours is 6:20 AM - and I've got so much to do before then!

carol

scdemers, you will love the Allstar resort. We staying in Allstar Music the last time we did WDW. There was so much activity and lots of Disney Magic. It doesn't matter what level resort you chose, Disney service is still excellent. WE are staying in Port Orleans resort this time because the value resorts don't have rooms for 5 and I didn't want my kids in a different room even though my DS is 16.

We have gone during spring break before and it was crowded but wasn't too bad. Disney is great at crowd control.

pediatric-rnp, I'm with you...getting too old to stay all day. We are doing the same thing.

and I have a feeling DisneyTiish you would probably also be eligible to join with me! LOL) "Sunset on Fri AM "- HA HA - sounds like you need a vacation!!
Your so right......I need a vacation and I will join you in the support group as long as it involves water, sunscreen and libations...."Oh Pool Boy....Where's my drink?":cool1:

You have a great trip. Your leaving tomorrow:hyper: WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE BOARDS??????GO PACK....LOL.

Has anyone been watching the weather??? It looks like scatter T-storms early in the week but then it clears up a little. Here's hoping for clear and sunny skies. PLEASE DON'T RAIN ON OUR PARADE.

Can't stay long - gotta get some sleep! We're finally all packed and ready to go. Everyone have a very safe trip, and let's hope for wonderful weather!
