Who Else Is Guilty?

Guilty! Quick after dinner dessert, tiny box of milk duds and a Reece’s pb cup!

My husband told her when you get to choose, ALWAYS take the Reece’s PB cup. Did I stress ALWAYS?! Yes, ALWAYS. :rotfl:

My kids are grown, but I “occasionally” did this in the past. But I only “borrowed” the candy my kids didn’t like, such as Snickers and Reese’s. I let them have the good stuff, like Mary Janes and circus peanuts. ;)
:snooty: I have people for that. Last year one of my staff members tore the Rockets (known to you as Smarties) right out of his own child's hands so that he could bring them to me. I made him "Employee of the Week".

 ^^True story.

My Mom always put our candy together and then separated it into bowls with like things. Lollipops in one bowl, chocolate in another, etc. It was then that it became 'for the entire family.' My Dad got everything with black licorice, though. Blech. And for some strange reason all the Jujubees disappeared before they could be put into the bowls. I highly suspected my Mom.

That's what we do, except we don't separate it out. It just goes in one big bowl for everyone.

In our house, it's the best way to avoid the, "that's my bag, no that's my bag, Mommy she ate my cookie and cream bar".

If they get special candy (like houses that give out full size), I write their names on the package.

No, but we get so few kids anymore on Halloween we have plenty of our own candy leftover. Bought our house in 1983, and all through the 90's we'd have 100 kids. I don't think we have had more than a dozen in the last 20 years.
Now, I do get the "rejects" from the See's candy my wife gets from me for her birthday or Christmas. She takes a bite, and if there is fruit inside, she hands it over to me. Although the last box of soft centers had no fruit filled candy in it. :(

I do not have kids to steal candy from, but when I was a kid we did have to may my Grandfather the "cocunut tax" in that he had first pick of anything with coconut, typically Mounds or Almond Joys.

Oof! I was once audited for unpaid coconut tax relating to my coconut shell corporation. My bad.

But let me get into Donahue mode, and respond to these parents of the DIS:

Eating your kids’ candy? Skimming off of your child’s hard-earn Halloween wages? Barbarian much?

I’m going to start handing out pennies. Do you all like to eat your children’s currency too? I’ll throw in a few more pennies- keep the change, you filthy animals!

As a parent we deserve(d) a share of the candy. We bought, made, put together just the right costume. We spent our evening walking around in the cold and sometimes rain so they could collect the candy. I think we deserve(d) that candy as much if not MORE than they do/did.

I don't have to sneak the kid's candy... DH and I eat so much candy BEFORE Halloween we aren't interested in hers! I just bought another bag today, and it's still more than 2 weeks til Halloween!

Seriously, though, it was never a problem. DD hates anything with caramel in it, and I just ADORE caramel, although I will tolerate chocolate if I have to. I was always given all the Twix, Snickers, etc.

My girls used to get sooooo…….much candy during Halloween time. 🎃
I would definitely take a piece off and on, but not much due to me always watching what I eat to prevent weight gain. What I took was like taking a cup out of the ocean - couldn’t tell I took anything.
A week before Thanksgiving I had the girls pick out enough candy to fill a small bowl and then I took the rest to work for my customers to take whatever they wanted. Then Christmas would come and they would get a ton more candy and treats again 🙄
