Who Else Is Going in August 2011??! ***List in 1st Post***

We are staying at SSR THV from 8/9 thru 8/16 then 5-night Dream Cruise.
I guess I don't understand why you said that:confused3
I did notice some listings at THV. I'm aware that SSR owners have the 11 month booking window for the THV but I've always considered SSR and THV as two separate resorts since they are different locations. I'm not bashing SSR, I actually own several contracts there myself. It just seems to be a fact that the majority of DVC owners don't book SSR unless everything else is booked up.

Not us, we bought where we want to stay. We will eventually try some of the other locations, but for now SSR is tranquil after being in the parks.;)

I just realized home many people besides me split stay!

WOW.. I read all the "don't split" forums.. and thought I was a minority... Including Cruising as a split more dos than do nots !

**I do it points, I do not want to live without my 1 bedroom, but cannot afford it for more than a few nights.. I cannot afford addonitis. I am excited about trying a new resort this Aug though. BLT 1st timer here. If I go more than 6 nights.. I split.

We are staying at the BWV from 8/20 - 8/28. How is the weather that time of year. How busy are the parks? Is that love bug season? I am trying to plan our days at the park but not sure if we will need lots of breaks in between.

Got some ADRs this morning. Tusker House breakfast, The Plaza and Via Napoli for dinner and Citricos for date night. We'll add to it, but we wanted a couple things on the books.

We will be going at the same time as you, although on the Dream for half of it. We've been at that time of year before, and it is normally very hot, very humid with thunderstorms usually in the afternoon. But, you get in lines in the shade and have lots of water. Take breaks in AC for lunch, go into the stores when it seems too hot. I don't do very well when it's really hot, and it doesn't bother me too much, cause there is always somewhere to go to get out of it. ;) If you have little kids, you may need more breaks...the heat wipes them out more. No lovebugs though!
The parks are busy, but less so during that week cause many kids go back to school before then.

Can we be added to list.......we'll be at BCV from 7/29-8/6

We'll be at the BCV Aug 18-26 - I'd rather sweat to death in Florida than in Jersey!

On Aug 29th, I have a grand gathering planned for a Dis-meet.
ALLLL WELCOME!!! 2 families so far, the more the merrier. :)

If you have ever thought about doing the Illunimations viewing/Char. Dinner show please PM me.

This includes an international dinner, charater interaction and then walking over to a dessert party with prime seating for Illuminations. Start time 7:30

On dining plan it is 2 TBS or it is 73$ for AD a little less for kiddies.

That sounds great, but we are leaving the 28th :(

I would love to share a wished criuse with someone either 8/12 or 8/15. I would prefer 8/15 as that is DD's b-day! We are a family of 4.

I would add something to the dismeets. I found 1 family that way. I think Wishes cruise no longer has a minimum too. I think you can call and just book it.

We would total join.. but not arriving until 25th.. G L ! :wizard:

Question for you all going in Aug, do most of you spend the afternoons relaxing by the pool? We have always gone in Feb, which we love, 70 degree weather is perfect park weather for us but we just bought resale contract that is coming with 260 points (130 need to be used by Sept 30) and another 130 coming Oct 1 for a total of 390. I thought once we actually got the points we would try a summer vacation but I am a bit nervous about heat.

Yes we always try to make rope drop and leave the parks by 12 - 1 ish. Spend the afternoon relaxing and swimming in the pool. Usually head back out at 6 ish to go for dinner and experience the parks at night. For those of us from the northeast the humidty is slightly worse than it is in July/Aug at home and by then you are used to it (or at least I am) so going in August is not a problem for me or my family.

Go Huskies!!!!
