Who else is dissapointed by this so called "deal"?

I'm only going for four nights and can't extend my trip so I guess no deal for me :-(

In order for us to take a trip - I needed a room only code. I can only stay 4 nights and need 2 day tickets. The new deal doesn't work for me. I was in tears last night. I was planning a Jan trip for a few months now. No more planning. I have to call and cancel my dining ressies. :sad1:
Yeah, yeah, it's my party and I'll cry if I want to - so no backlash, ok?!

We can only stay 4 nights, too, so didn't work out for us. And, I am still trying to get switched from POR to either CSR or FOFQ and I've had my reservations since early August. TA has not been able to do it yet, as every time she calls, they say they have no availability in those 2 resorts. But now, I am reading about everyone who has booked them for the same dates with this new deal. I just am not following this at all...........:confused3

It is such a great deal, but I am not one of the lucky ones... I will be going to Disney on my tax return and will not be getting it back till Mid-Feb and the package has to be paid off at the end of Jan for my March trip..... oh well, maybe another deal will come out.:worship: One can only hope right??

Do you have a Disney Visa? You get 6 months to pay it off with no interest.

Free dining doesn't save any money, its just convenient?:confused3 Sorry, but I'm not sure where you got that info.

In June I booked our December 14 -22 Dream Christmas vacation our total was $4,700.00. I was able to apply the Disney Visa Free Dining code that came out in September and that made the total cost of our trip $3,100.00. Free Dining saved us $1,600.00! To me that's an incredible savings. If we go ahead and book our trip for the first week of may the new "deal" will save us about $500.00, which is a nice discount, but it's not $1,600.00.

where people talk about free dining be a good deal or not depends on what you do. For us, I will take any other deal besides free dining. We do not eat a table service meal every day, and having to have all our meals planned out months in advance is like torture for us. We found ourselves wasting credits and eating way too much food. I will take the room discount and tickets any day!

But, I didn't say free dining was for everybody. I was pointing out to the previous poster that stated, "free dining doesn't save any money, it's just convenient," that free dining can be huge money saver. Just because you don't like the dining plan and choose not to do free dining, doesn't mean it's not an incredibly huge savings for a lot of people.

I agree with you, but for different reasons.

For us we do a lot of TS dining because one of my kids has a ton of food allergies. But, this makes free dining a bad deal. So many of the places we like to eat are signature restaurants—which is a horrible way to use dining credits (two). We also end up doing more TS than the plan gives for. So CS credits go to waste and we end up paying OOP for a lot of those TS meals. Some of those TS meals aren’t even covered on the DDP. Then, until our 2009 trips, we have one under 3, so frequently we still have to cough up money for his meals—he out eats both his brothers combined. Then we have APs, so the free dining costs us one day base tickets.

Nah, we use a Tables in Wonderland card and have a MUCH lower bottom line than free dining.

That is the nature of deals, they do not work for everyone, that does not mean they are not good. I was pricing the packages and before this deal it would have cost $700 more to book. Now it is like getting free tickets for my husband, myself and our daughter and we get to stay on property and have the DP, which we like for the convenience.

My husband travels quite a bit and we have free hotel points at several chains. We could have stayed off property and saved even more, so in that sense, the deal is not as good as a free hotel for 10 nights, but again, we REALLY enjoy staying on Disney property and part of vacation is splurging within reason.

I'm totally disgusted with this "promotion". For the past four years, we've gone to Disney in January on the free ticket upgrade promotion - which also included a 15% room discount. I've been waiting for the discount to be released so that I could book... I had expected to get the same promotion and figured my price to be $2075 (value resort, 7 nights, dining plan, two adults, two kids). With the new "promotion", that same trip is going to cost me $2,173 ($2,373 less $200 gift card). So, whoever called this deal "HUGE" wasn't talking to those of us who stay at value resorts...

I think this promo is more targeted for people who stay deluxe or want to stay deluxe. Right now people are trying to save money, so they aren't booking WDW vacations right now and if they are, a huge majority of them are probably booking value or moderate to try to save some money. I think this promo is a push to try to fill the deluxes. Just my opinion though . . .

I have a reservation made for 4 nights at CBR in March. I was lucky enough to get a pin and called it in right away, which saved me $405.00. Today when I seen this deal for the additional 3 nights I called about it and while it sounded like a great deal at the time, the more I thought about it, I don't think so. We have the disney dining plan added to our reservation which means I now have three more days to pay for the dining and I can't use to 40% off room pin that I have received earlier. I also have to change our flights and this is going to cost $160 for us so in total it was going to cost me $850.00 to stay for another 3 days so I don't think I will be taking advantage of this offer. I hope it works out well for others.:goodvibes

I am, well sorta.

DH and I are AP holders and our tickets expire in March. We want to go in April for 10 days, for sure in Oct for 10 days and maybe a few weekenders in between.

So I do not know what to do. I can get the Poly CL for a week (forget the extra 2 nights) for $2400 and have the 7 day park hopper tickets or I can pay $700 for our AP's and hope a discount comes out.

Then when we go over the summer or if we hold out until Oct just purchase AP's then BUT I dont know if this is a good deal for me.

Someone help!

I'd book the April package discount so not to let it slip away and then wait a bit. AP discounts will be announced well before the 45 day mark on that trip. Your other option is to let your AP lapse in March and use the April tix credit to upgrade to an AP when you are there.

I am disgusted that people would think a deal is disgusting if they can't use it. I have not ever been able to take advantage of the free dining, it is still a good deal. I could never be in business, I would end up chewing out customers, the sense of entitlement just blows my mind.:sad2:

I think it still must be quite a savings over rack rate, right?

The deal doesn't work out for me cause I am an AP holder. I also don't do dining EVER. . .(though I might consider quick service). My lifestyle is that it is usually me and my son or me and a friend in a hotel room. This deal is GREAT for a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 kids but even if I switch to one day passes to use to upgrade my APs its not enough of a savings for me. . .

Its a great deal for those that travel in this way though so I am glad they are offering it. Hope a new ap rate opens up for March soon. . .lol

I sadly can't take advantage of this deal because we can't go longer (work, kids, flights) then 4 nights. I am glad it is great for so many other people, but for me I am a tad sad that I could get 7 nights for what I am paying for 4 if I could stay longer :(

Er, I might agree with you, though I wouldn't use the word "disgusted" to describe my feelings about the deal - original source of the word, I know - or the people discussing the deal, but this is a disappointed thread/vent and so the appropriate place for those who don't benefit to talk about it. So, if I felt the need to pass judgment, I probably wouldn't read the thread. Disney can't please everyone so these posts are inevitable ... unless we all got to go for free.

This discount didn't work for my January trip, as an AP holder, which already has airfare purchased, but my AP expires shortly after so I booked a another unexpected trip. But we are dependent on reasonable airfare to make it worthwhile.
