Who else is dissapointed by this so called "deal"?

I booked the package, but it's not the HUGE deal that was promised... In our situation - comparing it to the package we typically use in January, which was the free ticket upgrades - this only saves us about $100. I was SO hoping for something that included dining. They are certainly targeting this towards the higher end stays...

Would rather have had a room discount.Because of high school schedule we can only go Thurs-Mon marathon weekend. This deal does nothing for us.

We are AP holders and just got back from a trip in October. We are going again 5/9-5/16 but have not yet made reservations. As AP holders, it is a much better deal to get a substantial room only discount and not have to buy the one-day base ticket that we really don't need as we just got our AP's and have no plan to renew. Would you wait for an AP rate or go with the 4 day/get 3 free plan? I see as just an OK deal, nothing fabulous. Do you think they will release other offers during this time period?

I was actually surprised. Initially, I thought it was not going to be a deal for us. We were going for five nights, with three days of tickets. Cost for that with a AAA discount on the room was 1163.37. I thought we would get a quote with a rack rate for the room, so we would lose our discount, and stay longer than we had intended. I was really surprised when I priced the same trip with the discount and it came to $1140.49! We are probably not going to use all 7 days of tickets, maybe only three, so I will add the no expiration option and get four days of tickets for 110 for the next trip. Plus, we will be able to fly Tuesdays and Wednesdays both ways, saving money on our airfare! I was really surprised. I guess they are discounting the room rate too!

We have gone before in mid-August, which is value season, but before free dining typically starts. Although we weren't planning on going back for another year or so, I though about doing the 4-for-3 deal in May (the other time we could go) for a value resort, if the price was right.

When I pricing out the 4-for-3 deal for May with staying in one of the All-Stars (2A, 1C), it actually comes to the same rack rate for 7 days room, 7 days base tickets as going in value season during August. In essence, I was able to go at a cooler time of year for the same $$$.

It is a great deal for those staying at deluxe resorts, and those who were planning on going during that time anyway. I would likely have booked this if we could go during January (value season again), because we could have saved over $400 between the hotel discount (~$220 at the AllStars or Pop) and gift card ($200). Or, if they had included 4-for-3 with dining, we would have booked May in a heartbeat.

Congrats to all that could use this. Here's hoping for something later in the summer for the rest of us - if not, this family will just be waiting a few more years.

Yes room only code is what I need.We are not even entitled to the gift card because we already have tix. What a rip off!We are paying $390/night at OKW!

I, too, was disapointed. We already have tickets so I was looking for a room only discount-or free dining. I would have gladly bought a days worth of tickets for free dining. I guess I will just have to wait and see if maybe a room only discount will come out later for May. Last year one was announced in late March for May.

It has potential to be a somewhat good deal for us because we're going during spring break and this new deal covers the break. However, there are limited resorts available for the April break. I plan to keep trying, but otherwise will just hold onto my AAA discounted room.

I have to play the numbers game but it doesnt seems like that good of a deal. Right now we have free dining in Sept...Might move it to not take the kids (will be 6th grade) out of school but probably not for this:confused:

I am, well sorta.

DH and I are AP holders and our tickets expire in March. We want to go in April for 10 days, for sure in Oct for 10 days and maybe a few weekenders in between.

So I do not know what to do. I can get the Poly CL for a week (forget the extra 2 nights) for $2400 and have the 7 day park hopper tickets or I can pay $700 for our AP's and hope a discount comes out.

Then when we go over the summer or if we hold out until Oct just purchase AP's then BUT I dont know if this is a good deal for me.

Someone help!

If this works out it will be a HUGE deal for us. I am waiting to hear from our Dreams agent right now. We should only vacation when our special needs daughter is off school which leaves spring break, first week of June, winter break, and 3 weeks in August. Spring break and holiday time is always too expensive for us BUT this deal will allow us to go in mid-March (much more pleasant weather) and move our trip up from mid-August when is so very hot. We are hoping for the Wilderness Lodge.

I had booked a 12 night/13 day stay with a 10 day parkhopper/ water and dining plan for a 5/21-6/2 at POP (me and my daughter 14- so 2 adults)

Well, with the new promo, we will be there from 5/21-6/4 with 2 (7 day )separate reservations. We only added the water park option to one of the 7 days and have dining for the full stay. 2 extra nights, 2 extra days of meal plan and 4 extra park days would up costing me only $75 more than my original cost.

Sounds like a good deal to me!!!

I was disappointed I was "only" going to save $190 because I had already bought tickets, but then calypso*a*go-go on another thread suggested adding a 1 day base ticket to get the package, which I did and saved $600 at the WL for a 8 night stay. Bottom line works out to 30% off rack rates, which is better than the 10% AAA I already had, so for me it works out.

It actually works out to be almost the same $ value of adding dining, so if I were to call back and add dining, it would be like getting free dining.

I have to say though, both times I called the CM's were wonderful :thumbsup2

My friend had already booked her trip for late January - 5 nights 6 days of tickets I believe...

They are a grand gathering with 4 rooms. I told her about this deal and said worth a try to see what you can get from it...

So her mother called - she had booked all the rooms.

They give them the 5th night free x 4 rooms at a moderate = $500 savings (or it was $500 for the 4 rooms and the one free day of tickets each) AND each rooms gets the $200 gift card.

I am not really sure why people are complaining as much as they are. They are walking away with a $500 savings and $800 in gift cards just for calling...

I figure any savings you can get is worth it??? I know that if you are only one room the savings isnt as large, but its still cheaper then what you were planning on paying...

As for those talking about the dining plan - if free dining were offered, they would certainly take that deal instead as they are paying $1600 total for the dning...so in essence it would be an additional $300 savings rather then this deal...

BUT trust me - they are not complaining and are thrilled that disney came out with this offer!

We, of course, are going during the blackout dates 13-19 April:sad2: :sad2:
There is no way we can change our dates.

Did you try booking through the 'special offers' link to see what is available? I do not think there are black out dates for every resort, but some may be full already during peak times.

I'm a little bummed about our deal. We had a 7 day Jan 4-11 booked at POP. Called and there was NO availability at any value for my dates, so upgraded to POR, costing us 3 bucks more. But we get the $200 card. Hope to be able to get a value at some point, that will return us about $250. Then again, that's just $125 each. I would have far preferred free dining. And while March thru June may be spring and a busier time, Jan-Feb is dead. This is a good deal for deluxe fans, but we value people don't look at it the same way. The resort is just a place to sleep and shower.

I'm a bit confused.... why are people with trips planned in September/October saying this isn't a good deal or a good deal for them. Of course it won't be like getting free dining because free dining isn't being offered at this time and this deal isn't being offered later in the year, at least not yet. The deal is for the first half of the year and for those that are traveling then it seems to work out pretty well. I saved about $1,000 by changing up my reservation at AKL.

Can I have your giftcard?

Sorry, I don't understand the necessity of comparing this promotion to free dining. Why is Free Dining the benchmark for determining the value of this new promotion?

This is a great deal for people who are taking their WDW vacation during the first half of the year...and the Free Dining is a great deal for people taking a Fall vacation. If you can't go in the Fall, all the free dining in the world won't help you. If you can't go in the Spring, free days won't help. If you have a choice of vacation times, then pick the one that works out better for your vacation choices.

(And it's a really, really great deal for people who are going both Spring & Fall...We're "double dipping" on Disney promos this year...free days in May & Free Dining in September:woohoo:)
It's not that it's not a good deal, the disappointment comes from the fact that Mousesavers and a number of other TA websites were touting this as the best deal Disney has come out with in years. Well, it's not. We are saving $1,600.00 with the free dining Visa code for our December trip. If we book in May with the current deal we will save a little over $500.00. I'm not complaining, I'm happy to save $500.00, but a free dining code (or including some free dining days with the new deal), would have saved us about $1,000.00 more.

Its still a better deal than free dining if you go in the first three months of the promotion for a week compared to free dining. Also, free dining doesn't save any money, its just convenient, thats been covered quite a bit. There are a lot cheaper ways to eat in the parks than using the dining plan. This is at worst the same as free dining if you get free dining, and if you want the cheapest vacation possible, stay at a value and dont get the dining plan. Its also not at free dining times during the extemely hot and humid part of the year.

Free dining doesn't save any money, its just convenient?:confused3 Sorry, but I'm not sure where you got that info.

In June I booked our December 14 -22 Dream Christmas vacation our total was $4,700.00. I was able to apply the Disney Visa Free Dining code that came out in September and that made the total cost of our trip $3,100.00. Free Dining saved us $1,600.00! To me that's an incredible savings. If we go ahead and book our trip for the first week of may the new "deal" will save us about $500.00, which is a nice discount, but it's not $1,600.00.
