We usually end up getting a lot of gift cards when we open presents at my parents' house. I always make sure they have names on them, and put them into one small bag or box to take home. Since we got our two boys a PS3 for Christmas, they wanted to use their Target cards from my parents to buy games. The morning, they asked if we could go. Sure, except one boy's Target card isn't in the box. Come to think of it, DH's Amazon card from my sister is also missing. I asked my dad to search their living room. I asked my brother and sister to search their gift piles. After many phone calls, I looked in the box again. They were stuck in the lid! When I pulled the lid off, the card stayed with it because their cardboard covers were a little bigger than the box. Ugh! Problem solved.

So then, DH and I were out doing the after-Christmas returns/shopping. He said he still needed an iPhone case that would attach to his belt. I told him I got him one of those. He said he never opened it. I clearly remember seeing it on the kitchen table when I was wrapping gifts. I'm pretty sure I wrapped it and put it under the tree. We went home and looked under the tree with a flashlight. No case. We looked next to the chair where DH opened his presents. The kids were putting presents next to us to open. No case by the chair. Nor on the floor, the table, under the table...I have no idea where it might be! I have to keep looking. That thing was over $25! Anyone else have any presents they suddenly can't find?

Every year I lose something or two - :rotfl2:

Last year it was sun glasses for my husband and this year it was dvd's for my nephew and something else - but I forgot what!:lmao:

I tend to forget that I'm missing things until I find wrapped gifts months later that I "hid".

Over the last 2 days, DS lost his wallet and a new beanie stocking cap that his brother gave him Christmas eve.

After much searching and then a prayer to St. Anthony soon after

The wallet was found in our van.

The stocking cap was found in his bed.

I chalk it up to so much going on over the last week with getting ready for and having Christmas he was distracted as we all were.

It wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't lose or forget something. When I get back from my mini holiday, I have to find a couple gift cards that I know I got for DD, but I hide stuff from her, then I couldnt' find them.

One year I lost the m&m filled candy cane I got for the boys' stockings... Found them several months later.

This year I ended up with an extra gift and I have no idea who I got it for. Luckily it's an amazon gift card, so it won't go to waste! ;). I think I may have bought it for my mom when I was having a hard time deciding what to get her, but I'm not sure.

DH and I got two $25 GCs for visiting the BLT DVC when we were at Disney in Sept and now cannot find them. We were going to give them to the dear niece and nephew who will be at Disney this spring on their band trip. :headache: Oof. I'm on the lookout though. Hopefully they will turn up at some point. . .I'm sure they will get used, whenever I find them.

I wonder if you could PM the prayer to the OP (since technically is religious and might risk this thread getting closed). I'm not religious - but I swear by it!!! It really works!

We lost a domo snuggie for a while. Seems ridiculous but my 12 year old was VERY upset. Found it today in the towels bin!

Every year my mom had this problem. We had fun with the "after Christmas present hunt". If you were lucky, you were the one who had the gift hiding in a closet or car.

Now I do it. Lost one gift Christmas Day. It got pushed back behind the tree. My dad lost half my sister's present (he was her Kris Kringle). He was really upset by it. Turned up in my drawer. Mixup from the post-Disney unpacking. She got it the day after Christmas (along with something I had gotten her in October and forgot about).

I lost a present my dad got for me. (He sends me out to do my own gift-shopping.) When we were wrapping presents, I told him not to bother with mine. Just take them back to my room and I'd unbag them later. Yestersay I unbagged them and laid them out on my bed so he could see what he gifted me. Two scarves magically disappeared. Thought we'd put them away with the wrapping paper. My sister found them.. wrapped up in a gift bag under the tree. He forgot he wrapped them up instead.

Always reminds me of that scene in national Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. when Clark Griswald goes to the attic to hide presents and finds an old one from Mother's Day buried in the rafters.:rotfl:

I would check the bag or whatever you keep your wrapping supplies in...maybe the phone case is in there.

I started making a list of what I bought and put it on an app on my phone so I don't forget something. When we moved in here I found a couple presents that I bought for the kids a few years before :lmao:.

When the kids get gift cards or small things, I tell them to put them in their wallets or I start a gift bag of small presents so they don't get picked up while cleaning up wrapping paper by mistake.

I lost a gift card for ds#3. I gave him cash instead, but now I found the gift card. I told him to keep the cash because I am taking back 2 other things he does not want.

Also we lost a wallet for ds#2. Havent found it yet. I told dh where look, but he hasnt tried that place yet.

Not a present but...we also "Lost" our christmas ham. Dh thought I put it away. I thought he put it in the refrig. But we figured the check out girl just forgot to give it to us. He called the store and went back with the receipt the next day and they gave him a new one.

You can Google it - there are many versions. Unfortunately, it didn't help DH find his Apple TV remote last week. :confused3

We didn't lose any, but we found one! I found a silver charm bracelet from Claire's while putting gifts up yesterday. I asked DD11 who got it for her. She says she has no idea and has never even seen it before. I asked my mom & my sister (two most likely candidates) if they bought it for DD. Nope.

I didn't lose any main gifts, but I bought 6 chocolate oranges for stocking stuffers and two pounds of sausage to make the breakfast casserole and sausage balls. Weeellll, somewhere in this house are three lost oranges and one pound of sausage. I am really hoping the sausage was either left at the store or is somewhere in the fridge!!:scared1:

Many years ago, my mom would use boxes from their little grocery store to wrap gifts in. My bil always chewed Red Man tobacco so she always used one of the boxes to wrap his gift in. Well, after all the unwrapping my sister asked my mom if she got bil anything. She did and she remembered wrapping it in that box. We NEVER found it!! That was like 30 years ago!

In the process of opening presents my dad forgot two for my mom, my uncle forgot one for my mom and one for my dad, my grandparents forgot one of mine somewhere and both my dad and I forgot (until the night before) that we bought my mom a nice purse...so she got extra presents too!

No gifts lost (yet?), but my sister that was supposed to buy for me this year, bought for our other sister instead. So I was not going to get a gift and the other was getting two. The sisters decided I should get the gift meant for the sister who bought incorrectly. So in the end she ended up without a gift, my other sister ended up with two (one was a book inscribed to her and the other was only something she could use), and I got one.
Next year, everyone is double checking the swap list before buying!

I host Christmas so usually I end up with forgotten gifts. This year wasn't too bad as one brother left two small gifts. DH works with him so it is an easy return.

I gave our niece a Disney gift card for her trip in February. Knowing how much gidt cards get lost in the piles of presents I wrapped it in a quart size Christmas bucket.

I did lose a package from Amazon. I have Prime shipping and UPS shows it was dropped off last Thursday but I didn't receive it. I ship all the time from Amazon and have no problems. Now I have to go to the UPS site and report the missing package.

It contatined our 3 year old nephew's presents. He was so overwhelmed he won't notice. When I replace them he will be happy to have new books.

Yep. DS had several gifts that I'd wrapped and stored in a duffel bag. When I put the stuff under the tree, I thought his pile looked pretty skimpy, but didn't think too much about it -- there were 4 gifts in it.

Found it in mid afternoon. The last gift he opened? A Psych tee-shirt with the words "Wait for iiiiiittttt...." on it. Guess he did have to wait for it!

We almost lost a DS game for my DS who's 5. My niece who is 13 tried to sneak it out in her bag. Luckily I noticed and made her give it back. She takes things compulsively. We know she was sneaking other things into her bag but we don't know exactly what she took. Her Mom believes she was just "borrowing" from my DS. I get so mad I could just scream sometimes...I so wanted to have her dump her bag out and see what else was in there, but they made a beeline for the door after I got the DS game back. It is no fun being on guard like that with your own family!
