I know I know...MANY of you simply love those resorts, so this thread isn't for you (I can just see the angry throngs rushing to post in "defense" of these resorts).

The theming, the layout, the GIAGNTIC "icons", are just so unappealing to me in every way. Naturally if I was on a supertight budget, I'd bite the bullet and stay in one, but frankly I think I'd rather save more money and go when I could afford a mod (I love CBR, and POFQ). I think the "icons" look silly personally.

There must be others out there who feel this way. Tiny rooms, kids and crowds and tour groups everywhere. Who else isn't a "value" fan?

Me!!! I think the Value resorts look ridiculous.

I'll take my faux savannah and faux mardi gras over a giant crayon any day.

I have never visited one, just basing this on photos, but you would have to pay me to stay there.

I have no interest in the values. Not because of the 'value' aspect, but simply based on the theming and designs. This is the same basis I judge otehr hotels. I love POR, WL, GF because of theming and have no interest in Poly or BC/YC for the same reasons.

I think they are tacky. The beds are small, rooms are tiny. Too "crazy" for our taste. We haven't actually tried POP, so I'm referring specifically to All Star. We stayed there in 1994 and 1995 and not since. Won't return. If it was the only way we could afford it...we probably wouldn't go.

When I was 12 I decorated my room with oversized stuff (swatches, pencils etc...) It was silly then too!

I jsut don't want to vacation on a gogantic foosball table!

We love POR. That said the grands would much prefer staying at a value. They aren't fond of POR at all. They love them (values)..every last icon. We'll stay at a value (it's been pop almost everytime lately when staying at a value) a couple times a year, and I love watching all the kids faces when they first get there (and in Feb when the whole family was there, everyone loved POP, especially the one person who was there for the first time). They just envelope you in make believe.

They are too small for my family - unless we get two rooms.
My teenage DS also wants a pool slide.
My DH does not like a bus to everywhere.

Deluxe is the way we stay.

The Value resorts are probably the ugliest hotels I have ever seen, anywhere. They are just so tacky. Plus, they are always crowded. The pool is out of control, its completely over run with kids. Food courts are packed. And the bus lines are just ridiculous. When a park is closing during peak season, the bus lines for the Value resorts are a mile long.

I would rather spend the extra money and stay at a moderate. If price was an issue, I would rather stay off-site than stay at a Value resort.

I really dislike them. I find the decor loud and garish--I prefer subdued and elegant.

THe rooms are much too small for our comfort, and we simply don't sleep in a double bed together. We like more amenities, the ability to order room service and enjoy a cocktail in the lounge, and have a full service restaurant there for us.

For some people, I'm sure they are fine. For us, no way.

We stayed at one of the allstars a few years back and we wouldnt stay again now that we have stayed at the moderates. The theming is just too much and it made it hard for us to relax. I cant speak for POP which has a lot of fans but as for the all stars, we wouldnt stay there again. I would prefer to spend the money on moderate and save in other areas.

The theming doesn't do anything for me either. However, my dh and kids love the looks of them. Admittedly, we've never stayed at a value.

I gave the values 2 chances years ago. Never again they were loud and cheesy. We like to be able to relax on vacation no doing that at the values. Those huge icons are horrible. Alot post on these boards how much their kids love the values and would be so disappointed if they couldn't stay there. My kids were never disappointed at any hotel we stayed at WDW or elsewhere.

They don't appeal to DH and I at all, even for our first on property trip I kept my fingers crossed for codes, so we could upgrade to a moderate. We just lucked out that we chose CBR which was closed for refurb and got to stay at AKL. We got so spoiled that we just bought into DVC because we could never go back.

Garishness aside, I just really dislike the 'motel' layout. When I'm on vactation, I really like to have a balcony. Additionally, I like to get to my room through a lobby. I don't know why, I've just gotten used to that sort of thing and I like it. And I really dislike having your only window look out onto the walkway that is constantly filled with travelers moving in and out of their rooms, constantly moving by your window. So that rules out the values and I guess the moderates for me.

I would stay there if it meant not going to WDW at all, but I prefer the moderates and deluxes. We stayed at ASSP for a short stay and I did not find it relaxing at all, and when I'm on vacation, I want to feel relaxed. The kids prefer the other resorts too.

I agree, TACKY! Drove by once and couldn't wait to get away. My impession was I thought Disney could have done a better job of something simple and
still make it a value hotel.

For us it has to do with amenities and room size. I like having room service as an option as well. :cool1: My DS always looks longingly at the huge icons whenever we drive by these hotels though and it makes me feel a little bad for being a resort snob(usually this resolves itself when checking into one of the deluxes and seeing the spectacular lobby, :earseek: WDW really does lobbies well!). The other thing is the transportation options are so much better. I really like getting to the park by boat or monorail or even better just walking. We aren't huge fans of the busses.

I certainly don't find them appealing, but would I stay there if that's all my budget allowed and it meant either going to WDW or not? ABSOLUTELY!

And I'd rather stay onsite in a value rather than offsite in a hotel of comparable quality.

i also agree i have no interest in them at all
i did visit pop on my last visit but its not for me
even my kids didnt care
they wanna try akl as does dh i have no interest in that but will do it
i love WL the best and many of the deluxes
