Hi All!
I was making reservations for the last 7 days for our annual mid-August trip. I have to say - it is so stressful!!! I sit there at 8:58 am with everything in front of me STARING at my cell phone waiting for it to be 9:00. LOL it's amazing how long 2 minutes can be! And then to keep pushing 1 and listening to the insurance pitch, OMG it makes me so tense! Then the phone is finally answered and we have to go through my name, social, address, email and all I can think is "hurry up before someone else gets my room!!!" LOL Does anyone else find it completely stressful????:scared1:

The worst thing is, I had to call every morning for 7 days to get what I wanted. Which with being a teacher - it isn't easy! Thankfully we had two 90 minutes delays this week and I had a workshop that made it a little better. But man, I am glad these 7 mornings are done!:thumbsup2

And I'm happy to report we got VWL Aug 15-20 and BCV 20-28!! So at least it was all worth it!!

Does anyone have any great tips of how to maybe get through that menu quicker? I hit 1 ASAP so I don't have to listen to everything. Anyone else?

I understand! I find DVC and SFX reservations stressful because of the telephone/live person interfaces.

I have much less stress (generally no stress) booking online reservations through Worldmark, RCI, II and others. I sure hope DVC's online booking system comes quickly! (On the other hand, given prior experiences with Disney's IT team ... perhaps I shouldn't complain about the indefinite delay for online booking.)

I also find it very stressful to make reservations. I main stress though comes from not liking to talk on telephones. I know, I am not normal. :rotfl: Congrads on getting your reservations. We also are staying at VWL at the same time as you although arriving a couple of days early. I know it will be August but I am hoping it is not too hot... This will be our first ever Disney trip in the summer time.

I get tense b/c I'm the Associate, and every time I call the CMs want different info. And each insists that what THEY are asking for is the ONLY thing a CM should be asking for. So I just have to have all the numbers out to look at, to be prepared.

I do too!! I get anxious about it around a week before my reservation day comes around. Especially when I am booking around a holiday weekend.

Why did you have to call every morning? Please tell me you weren't changing rooms every night for 7 nights!

The one thing I love about the new booking rules is that in general, once you get the first night, the next 6 are guaranteed on that one call. I remember booking 13 nights with 13 phone calls at 6 am CA time over 13 days one January. Yuck! -- Suzanne

I feel the same way. It was 9:02am on my 7mth window and I almost didn't get my reservation that I wanted, so it IS stressful lol

I am so glad so many other people feel the same way. :goodvibes I kept thinking it was just me and that I'm not normal. Now I realize we are all very normal :rotfl:

I don't know if I'm looking forward to the online booking. I hope when it happens it's immediate. Not where you put it in and then find out at another time if they have the room. I have no idea what the plans are on the site. But I find Disney sites to not really be quick and painless lol. Honestly, I'd be happy if the DVC member site could show you the points for all resorts for the date you pick. I can't stand going back and then having to choose the dates all over again in the point calculator. Or am I not seeing that magic button that I want????:goodvibes

Huh. Nope. No big deal for me. Maybe because my DH makes all the ressies!

But seriously, we nearly always get our first pick. Also, he usually only calls once for a 6 or 7 day stays. He's had to call back to extend a stay beyond 7 days but no daily calls. :confused3

Making the reservation no. I find the stress when choosing when to go and where to stay and who to bring.

There are all kinds of feelings when making reservations including joy, excitement, anticipation, and yes, stress. If it makes it any easier for you, here on the west coast, my clock must say 5:58am for us to have the same chance to get our reservations. So far, it has worked out for us, but it is hard. I always am afraid that my alarm will not go off.
But, Ahhhhhhh! the joy when the CM says, "Your reservation is confirmed for.....:dance3:

I get stressed before making the reservation. I always worry I won't get what I want, BUT that has not even happened yet!!!

I don't get stressed out calling DVC, but for my other timeshare (Starwood), I get so stressed out, I can feel my heart racing whenever I have to dial.

They have this system where your view/villa assignment is directly linked to your timestamp on your reservation. I call 12 months out, 6 am Pacific, which is the earliest I can call. I have to set my alarm to wake up 10 minutes prior to the call. I sit with two phones and dial on both. Usually I get the "we are not open" message and then I hit redial until their switchboard kicks in. By the time I get an agent, sometimes 10 minutes have passed--or worse, it has hung up on me altogether. Usually I am done by 6:20 am, but then I worry about my timestamp and which unit we will get. And this is for my home resort!

DVC is infinitely nicer to call, too. Every CM is so happy :).

I haven't needed to use the 7 month window with DVC, so maybe that is where the stress comes in. I am happy using the 11 month window for now.

I do get nervous using Priceline for rental car reservations.....

I am a recovering WDW commando, but as laid-back as I have become about everything else about our trips, the room ressies and ADRs still make me crazy. DW has taken over the DVC part of it, but it still makes me nervous when she calls. I guess it's the worry of having to rethink everything again if the dates aren't available.:earsboy:

I'm glad I live in this time zone bc I couldn't imagine doing the 5:58 phone call!!:scared1: My heart races as well bc of those darn menus and all the things they feel the need to tell us about (insurance, website, survey, etc.). And then I hate when they are checking your date and they say "waiting for my computer to load" or they just sit there silently. Inside I'm screaming "OMG HURRY UP!!" :laughing:LOL but nothing beats when they say it's confirmed! Makes me so happy!:lovestruc

I had to call every day bc we changed our mind about where to stay first and my main concern was keeping BCV for at least 7 days since it's our favorite place. Last week I normally wouldn't have been able to call until 10:35 or 12:15 bc I'm a teacher. So I didn't want to take the chance of missing what we needed. But the "snow gods" decided to give me two 90 minute delays and the trainer for my workshop showed up late. So I was able to do my super-stressful 9am phone calls even on school days!! :thumbsup2

Hi there fellow Ocean County resident!:goodvibes I too find making ressies stressful! I had to call today for a Xmas ressie and I got it!:cool1: Now, I just have to hope I can switch at 7 months. I hate all those prompts at the beginning too!

Hey there! How are you liking this weather we're getting hit with? Ocean County seems to be getting it so much worse this year!! Where abouts are you? I'm in Jackson and it's been brutal! Although I love these 90 min delays! Where did you book your Xmas? And where hoping to switch? Been there the last two Dec. One year at BWV and this past year at VWL. It was amazing! I think this year we're going to try for Food & Wine and Halloween decorations. Maybe try for OKW since we haven't stayed there yet! Watch out - I hear another storm is coming!! :scared1:

No I don't get nervous, I book GV's at SSR for T-giving at 11 months no problem. Beach Cottage at VB at 11 months no problem for spring break(and there are only 6 of those!).

I call at 7 months for our other trips and have my ABC picks and I've always gotten my A pick. Have gotten 2brs BWV(BW view) and BLT(MK view).

Only trip I was a little concerned about was a solo F&W trip that I booked 3 months out. Totally blown away at the availability and my options for studios.

And the only time I waitlisted to switch resorts, it came through in 3 weeks!
