Who else does not like SOARIN?

Soarin is absolutely AMAZING and anyone who doesnt agree should really give it a second chance! It is truly a huge stride in attractions at any park!

This is a slow-moving, gentle ride where you sit back and enjoy the movie.
If you really wanted to break both legs and suffer excruciating pain for several months (or worse), I suppose you could manage to wriggle and thrust yourself out of the very secure seat (just like on about any theme-park ride.)

What holds you in is that ever-present "one-G" of gravity that keeps things sitting on the ground and not floating around in the air most of the time.
If you tend to tumble out of sofas and padded desk chairs, you might want to ride something safer like R&RC and Mission Space which have MORE than the standard "one-G" to hold you in.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.......

???? I walked off this ride shaking my head...... :confused3 It is WAY OVER HYPED in my opinion. I did ride it twice to give it a fair chance - first time was in the 3rd row, the second time we asked for front row. Both times we all agreed - BORING!! Basically, you are sitting in a stationary seat watching a movie......... Sorry to the Soarin' fans..... :teeth: But I just don't get it.....

I've tried spinach, don't like it, but I don't think I'll be giving it a second chance just because loads of people love it.

Soarin' is a terrific, albeit very short, ride. I would definitely not wait an extended period of time to ride it, though, as it's just too short. Fastpass it, or skip it.

I didn't enjoy it as much as some people because I do have a real problem with heights. It took me a good while to walk to the edge of the Grand Canyon without feeling that I would fall off into oblivion. Also, as far as the feet above you being a distraction, just look at the screen instead of what's over your head, and it's not that much of a distraction. For heaven's sake, it's a ride, not perfection, and if you don't have a problem with heights and a feeling like you're going to fall, I guess it's pretty good. Just not my cup of tea.

I was so excited, only to be left thinking..this is all?
Way to short, and I guess I like more thrills....

How long is the ride? 5 minutes?

I view 'Soaring as a pleasant "D" ticket ride. Have ridden 10-12 times in all the different rows and sides and front and center is definately the best, bottom left and right makes it a "C" ticket. The best part is the take off and the musical score. It also (if you don't get motion sickness) can be a cool and refreshing ride. But for me, hanging in front of a curved movie screen watching a travelog does not an "E" ticket make.

Me...I went on this so excited a few weeks ago and had a major panic attack and I was on the lowest level. I don't think I saw a thing, my eyes were closed, and DH told me he kept telling me to open my eyes and kept trying to pry my fingers off of the seat :confused3 ! I don't recall but I do recall not wanting to do it again and a panic like I had with Space Mt!

Oh my.....our trip is next week and I've been anxiously awaiting riding Soarin' for the first time. I know my expectations are high. I l-o-v-e IMAX films, so I hope I'm in the majority and that I'm not as disappointed as all of you seem to be.

You should love it then. I am terrified of heights, but I  Soarin.

I rode it at Disney's CA park and my sandal slipped off my foot and fell on this lady's head! Don't worry she was ok - she had a poofy hairdo.

as a side note, I just made that up :teeth:

The ride is a good idea in theory but poorly executed in my opinion. I rode it at DL last year and everyone was hyping it up big time. So we were really excited for the ride and left a little disappointed. We sat in the 3rd row and i didn't feel at all as if i were actually "soaring" over california. I felt like i was sitting in a bar stool with people sitting overtop with their feet hanging in front of me! If i had to choose one attraction to miss, this would be it.

It's an ok ride but I woulnd't wait in line for an hour.

We rode it in California Adventure a few years ago. DH & I enjoyed it...but the kids called it...............

SNORIN' OVER CALIFORNIA :rotfl:

One of the cool things you can do is take your sandles (or flip flops) off and leave them on the floor when you get take your seat. You will fly up to the screen and then back down -- right where you left your shoes. :flower:

I really was not that impressed with Soarin'. It seems like they made the capacity of the ride too small. I definately would not stand in line for it any longer than it took to get a fastpass and come back to ride it 3 hours later. I thought it was only slightly better than the stich ride everyone seems to hate so much.

I couldn't help but laugh at the CM who proudly told us it was worth standing in line 60+ minutes for. There are few things in life that I would consider worthy of that and snorin just isn't one of them.

My husband and son rode it and said, "Soarin' is borin'." They said it was nothing they hadn't seen at the IMAX.

Loved Soarin', but do not mistake it for a "thrill" attraction. It is a
unique experience when riding for the first couple of times. The musical
score is great, and having Puddy in the pre-show adds that extra little
oomph.
As much as I do like this attraction, there is no way I'd wait an hour to
ride it(then again, there is nothing at WDW that I'd wait an hour for).

On Thursday I got to Epcot at opening and followed the mob over to Soarin and grabbed Fastpasses for my friend and I...we grabbed 2 more Fastpasses when our time came up and then got on the ride.

I don't know, maybe it was because there was so much hype over the ride (people in the parks and on the DIS said it was great, the #1 Must-See on Resort TV, etc)...but it was a big let down to me. It just wasn't anything spectacular...like I said maybe it's because I had such high hopes but it just wasn't exciting. I really don't like heights, either, so that didn't help.

Anyways my friend had no interest in riding it a second time, so I took my Fastpass and rode it by myself again...while I was on the ride the 2nd time, I decided that I wasn't going to even use the last Fastpass. I just kept it as a souvenir.

BTW, does anyone know how high off the ground you actually are? The 1st time through, I was in the 3rd row, and it didn't seem so terrible...but when I went on it the 2nd time, I was in the second row...and for some dumb reason, I looked down and started having a mini panic attack because it looked soooo far down there...I didn't want to panic again so that's why I didn't even use that last Fastpass. I wonder how high off the ground I actually was?

I loved it. The audience applauded and I seriously considered getting in the 60 min. line for another ride.

I am not looking for people that like the ride...there are plenty of soarin fans. I am looking for the people like me....Anyone???

I don't hate it, but I'm definitely not a fan. Maybe because I was in the 3rd row and not only could see the feet of the people in front of me, but also the bottom edge of the screen. Those two things distract from the effect. I probably wouldn't even bother going back on Soarin' again unless there wasn't a line. It doesn't live up to the hype. An Epcot CM claimed that 95% of guests love Soarin', so I guess I'm that other 5%. :)

I thought Star Tours at MGM gave a more realistic feeling of flight.

I loved it. Sure it's more Disney than thrill ride, but that's one of the things I enjoyed about it. If all I wanted was roller coasters I'd save a few thousand dollars and go to Six Flags! :teeth:

If you are a repeat rider, and are looking for a way to punch it up, then try keeping your focus on the focal point of the scene. You'll need to work at it a little because it usually isn't, the dead center of the screen. Keep staring at that point and you will greatly increase the sensation of speed through the different scenes.
