We have gone every year for the last 5 years in the fall. Disney sends us codes all the time. Every trip we went on, we had a code. This year nothing yet and I refuse to go and stay on site paying full price. I just can't see spending $300-400 a night for an average hotel room that is comparable to a Marriott that I can get for around $100 a night. We can afford to go and pay full price but I refuse to. Maybe we will check out other destinations for a change.

I understand and respect what you are saying. We have been lucky to get a 30% off PIN this year. I have previously stayed Deluxe with 40% or better. I even booked Deluxe with the 30%. Then my practical side had me change to Moderate with 30% PIN. If I had no discount, we would still go and stay (value, moderate or Swan/Dolphin). We have gone to the Caribbean as a change from Disney and our children really missed Disney. It is worth it to us to go to Disney to make the family memories. We adjust our budget based on promotions but we still go every year.

There's been a Fall Free Dining Discount/Promo announced every year, for the last 7 years, and I don't think this year will be any different. A general public free dining code should be coming in March or April.

We're booked, but if a good discount doesn't come out we might see if we can save money by renting points instead.

I'll go without a discount, but it will have to be in Value season, and we will have to stay in a Value resort. I'm HOPING for a pin code or a gp room discount for late September/early October, but it's not easy being patient! It's only January, the gp discounts probably won't come out for a while, right? Ughhh!!! I really want to just book my trip, but I'm holding out for a code/discount so we can stay deluxe! :cool1:

If we didn't have a discount we would still go (and we have). We just stay in a value resort!!!! Of course, discounts are nice...then you can upgrade!!!! I think people have gotten a little spoiled on the Disney discounts....I mean you don't go into the grocery store and say "I'm not buying anything unless it's at discount...". Disney is a business, and has no obligation to give discounts but I am thankful that it does.

Yup, same here. I do have airfare booked (for April) but if Disney discounts are not available (hoping for AP discount), then we will look at other ideas such as Swan or Dolphin, off-site, or even Universal.

Actually, I do.

If there are no codes/discounts when we go we might split between off site and go to Uni for those days. Or get two connecting value rooms instead of a cabin or suite. I agree that discounts have become expected but I think the prices bloat accordingly..

we're holding out for a code or promotion...hopefully free dining for the fall again. We've only been once(SEpt/OCt 2011), but are completely hooked. My husband does not want to go without the dining plan, as it was so convenient and saved us so much $$ for the 7 of us(6 of us plus my sister), especially since we are taking a trip to Disneyland in May for our daughter's dance competition. I can't wait until spring to book, so I think I will just go ahead and book for Sept 28th-October 9th at POP, if we do get a discount, my husband thinks we should try POFQ or Riverside. We talked about going elsewhere for a vacation, but that was quickly dismissed. Nobody wants to go anywhere else but Disney!:yay:

Been visiting for near 20 years. Remember when shareholder discounts were some 40 percent. Those days are gone..lol! We prefer to stay Deluxe. That being said, we have never visited without some type of discount. While we enjoy the resorts, they are no where near worth the rack rates that are charged.

We're going in May regardless BUT if a good promo doesnt come out we're going to skip the dining plan and stay off site.

We may have to look into this. With all of our kids now Disney adults and the baby no longer free it's much much more then our last trip so I'm hoping for a discount but looking at other options should we have to go that route.

I am hoping for a discount for July, but we will still go without one. We may lessen our stay by a night or two, but we will still take our trip with or without a discount. Our first stay onsite (2002) I didn't know any better and booked a rack rate package and off we went. But after that starting in 2003, we've always gone with some sort of discount. It's nice to get free dining or save 40% on the room, but not having that won't keep us from going; we will just tweak our trip a little to fit the cost.

We are going in September and it is our daughter's Communion gift, so we will go without a code, however, we would look into Dolphin/Swan, get our tickets through Undercover Tourist, etc. If POR was still cheaper for our family of five, then we'd stay there, but I wouldn't be as sold as staying on site unfortunately!

We go to other destinations & always miss Disney so going at least once a year is important to us. That being said I will not pay rack rate for any Disney resort. I did on our first trip in 1998 because I didn't know any better.

If we do not get a discount we will not be staying onsite. Staying off property & getting to play in the parks all day is better than not going at all just because we want to stay onsite in the middle of the magic. We did an offsite trip during Christmas in 2009 & since we stayed in the parks all day we didn't feel like it was any less magical. If we hadn't gone offsite that trip we would not have gone at all. That was the trip my youngest DD fought Darth Vader, we got free fastpasses from a CM for TSM without waiting on line, & Father Christmas picked my DD to help him tell the story of Christmas in England. Great memories happen even when you stay offsite.:love::love:

There is no way we go unless we use some kind of special offer/discount or FD. We've been to WDW so many times I don't see paying full price. DW really wants to go somewhere new.

Absolutely you are right. Disney is a business and can do what they please. We are the consumers and have the right to either not go, not stay on site, etc.

I liken it to Kohls or Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have raised their prices so much that no one goes in either of these stores without the 20% or 30% coupons that come out constantly! To me, going to Disney and packing rack rate is making an *** out of myself! They have raised their prices so much that getting a discount it is STILL inflated yet I do it for my love of disney :)

I can't go without a discount - not because I'm being stubborn, but because I can't afford it. The discounts are what make the vacation a little more comparable in price to going to the beach.

We'll go. We'll just stay offsite. Honestly, Disney has made an error with me. Without a discount, I started looking into offsite options. Realized I could get an offsite timeshare for half the cost of what we'd pay on property (a little more when you figure in gas/rental/parking, but still saving at least 25% over onsite)... and that we'd get twice the space and better accomodations -- luxury timeshare vs. Disney value. Now I'm at the point where I think, "Why would I want to stay on site?" It would be better if they'd offered discounts sooner. I'm under my 180 days now so I've made ADRs assuming we're offsite. Discounts would have to be really, really good to appeal to me now.

I've done Disney World for over 30 years and I absolutely won't go now except with a discount and preferably a free dining deal. I'm done staying at the deluxe resorts, too. You get the same Disney parks no matter which resort you stay at; so, I won't pay the premium. The only year I paid full price was the year 2000. I don't think you could get a deal that year. I've been to Disney World too many times to mention, but without a deal I won't go there.

I love free dining with the value resorts and I'll pay an upcharge if I want a better dining package. Even with this possible deal I believe we will be staying off site this year. I have a vegan husband and a mom who is on a strict special diet and she's a picky eater; so, free dining is not even appealing to me anymore like it used to be. It's doable, but just not the same value anymore for us. We want a bigger place and we want our dog with us. The better pet suites at the kennel located onsite is $75/night; so, I don't see that being worth it even with a Disney resort or meal deal. Our dog will be happier with us anyway getting a pet friendly place somewhere else. Did you know Universal's resorts allow dogs? I've been looking at a place where we can get two BRs, 2 baths, 3 TVs, a living room and a kitchen. We would be 10 minutes away from Disney. We would get a hot breakfast everyday and 3 nights a week there's a night reception which includes a hot snack and wine and beer and soda. I will pay about the same as a Disney moderate doing it this way. Most trips we have our car. I think I'm going to try off site this year there. Disney doesn't suit our needs anymore.

Also, we have spread our wings the last couple of years and we went to Dollywood and Williamsburg. We enjoyed ourselves there, as well. We are going to try Branson in the next couple of years. There are other places and there's no need to go just to Disney. Again, without a deal for Disney I just don't see it. With our Williamsburg trip we did stay at a 2 BR place and we loved it and it was pet friendly.

Disney may feel this year they have all the aces with the Fantasyland expansion and the new value resort opening up. I think it's going to be harder to get good deals. The off months still have good deals, but it may be very hard to get a good deal any other time.
