MGM FOREVER! (Although most of the time I just call it the Studios, to avoid the MGM/ Hollywood debate)

I know people who do this, but I am usually pretty good about adjusting to name changes, unless I am doing it deliberately/sarcastically. Of course, I only went to "MGM" once as a kid, and it was Hollywood Studios when I started going regularly. I can pretty much roll with changes though. Like I don't still call Disney Springs Downtown Disney or even Pleasure Island.

For a few seconds I still think Downtown Disney refers to WDW when I see articles about DL, but my immediate go to is Disney Shopping Village which then has to be converted to DS before I speak.

They will have to pry Future World out of my brain with a crowbar . . .

My first visit to WDW was in 1976 and I was 5 years old. I remember the Disney Shopping Village in like flashes in my childhood memories. My DH started going when he was about 10, late 70s or maybe 1980 and he remembers The Disney Shopping Village too. When we are in conversation with ourselves, we always, 100% of the time, refer to Disney Springs as "The Village". My DD21 doesn't call it that, but she very much knows what we are talking about when I say we're going to head to The Village to do some shopping.

Studios and Springs had a much different vibe in those days. Studios was more like "You love movies, let us show you how they're made" and Springs just wasn't so...I dunno...corporate? One can argue whether either is better, but they are now very different.

All of DISNEY had a different vibe in those days. We still go to Disney regularly, but the value really isn't there anymore. Frequently we only do a resort/dining stay, and most of our dining is at Downtown Disney Disney Springs. The parks just don't have the magic and value for us anymore.

^^ I agree, now the parks are WAY too crowded with wall-to-wall people which also makes the ride wait times too long. Disney has never seemed to grasp they need more rides and/or more capacity on existing ones to handle the larger crowds. FastPass or those Genie/pay things doesn't solve a park ride/show capacity issue and in some cases actually makes things worse.

I can remember going to Epcot or MK in the past and you could stroll around without constantly bumping into others and do whatever rides/shows you wanted.........ZERO need to 'plan' every minute of your day. We don't vacation that way so it lost a lot of its appeal. The value just isn't there for us anymore, regardless of what the different locations are called. We like to vacation at a number of different places and none of them charge what Disney does for their hotels. Everything @ Disney is so expensive combined with the fact you have such long ride wait times, the value is just no longer there for us. I can see a name change relating to a merger and/or ownership change, but renaming Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island to 'Disney Springs' seems more like an effort by marketing to 'rebrand' or change the image of somewhere to create more interest. Once you realize it is the same place with a different name, I don't really see the point. It is still mostly a place to shop or eat.
