Who does NOT get a gift from SO?

This year we bought ourselves a 52 " Samsung which suited us fine. We have been watching it for 3 weeks now so nothing under the tree for us.

Same here! Got the TV already (looks like we even got the same TV!) and we've been enjoying it already. Opening presents around here is for DD. I just LOVE to watch her open her gifts!!

:cool1:

We give each other little things during the year that make us think of each other. As far as Christmas gifts, he just doesn't do them....he believes in God but doesn't celebrate Christmas. That will change next year after our daughter is born but at the moment, it's just the way he is.

I'm so glad we're not the only ones. This year DH and I realized that we have come to the point that we really don't need anything, and anything we want we can just go out and buy. We decided to get a new computer and called that our Christmas present to ourselves.

DH and I don't exchange either. We like to travel and if we see something we want we buy it for ourselves.

We are doing stocking stuffers this year, but no big gifts for each other. We'd rather spend Christmas money on the kids than on ourselves, and we're saving money to go to WDW in 2009.

We don't usually give each other gifts. I don't get the big deal with gifts for a husband or wife. Anyway I'm not so sure I want anything my dh would buy. The man is infuriating with the stuff he gets me now and then. He was going to get me that stupid leg lamp from Christmas Story! :confused3 Who wants that in their house? That is the whole point of the lamp story line.
Every year, this is one of the big auction items at my former HS's auction. By big, I don't mean expensive. I mean it's one of the most bid upon items. I just think it's a running joke that someone perpetuates by donating a leg lamp every year.

this year DH and i are not exchanging gifts - we made a "deal" last christmas that this year, no tree, gifts, visiting relatives...

in exchange, we went to disney 2 weeks ago! (loved seeing the holiday decorations for the first time)

so that was our "gift" to each other

It's the thought that counts. DH often tells me things like "I didn't know what you wanted" or "I didn't have time to get you anything". He doesn't like to shop so he doesn't. I am not that picky and he knows he can always get me anything golf related, books or even just gift cards--again, it is the thought that counts. IF he 'buys' me anything it is usually, "why don't you go pick up that xxx you wanted for Christmas". If we traveled more or did things throughout the year it would be different but put on your big girl panties and spend 30 minutes in a store honey. :lmao:

I buy gifts for myself every year! I'd rather get what I need then have my DH spend money on something I probably don't need. I wrap them up and sign them from Santa!

:santa:

Thanks everyone, I'm glad I'm not alone in this.. I almost started to thing it was strange.. :confused3

Nope...not strange at all!! Dh and I are the same. When we were on our Eastern last year...we walked around the islands and we were looking for earrings for DD. They kept trying to get him to buy me jewelry. LOL...I am not really into it. I have the pieces I own..and wear that. I get telling them nope..I want my money to go towards vacations!!

We buy what we want when we see it. We got a PS3 about 6 weeks ago, and have bought some movies for them. And I get a Dyson on Monday!!! Man..that thing sucks so well!! I LOVE IT!!

What's the poing to wrapping them and waiting?? Besides they are big purchases..and we discuss all big purchased items before we buy them.

I did tell DH I want a GREAT vacation in a few years for the first anniversary of my 49th birthday!!

DH and I don't exchange gifts. We have all the necessities and enough of our wants. We live simply and would rather save for vacation or for extra gifts for our grandkids. I am also very practical and very picky. The perfect gift for me would be a grocery store gift certificate. Weird, I know.:goodvibes

NOpe not weird, I am the same way. We vacation quite a bit too, and it was see something we want during the year within reason, we buy it. This year hubby did get me a watch that I have wanted but he gave it to me 3 weeks ago. Right now we are saving for our 7 day Disney cruise in July. I would rather have the money that he would spend on me for Christmas and buy new clothes for the cruise.

We usually dont exchange. I dont like anything he gets me and after so many years he knows that too. Sometimes I might pick up something and say, oh honey, you have such good taste, thanks for the present etc. We know how we feel about each other and gifts are not important or necessary.

I did tell DH I want a GREAT vacation in a few years for the first anniversary of my 49th birthday!!

:lmao: That's a nice way to put it.. I've never heard anyone say it like that before.. Clever..

Back in October my DH mentioned that he wanted a new bumper for his beloved Mustang (didn't need one...just wanted a different style). I told him right there and then "Merry Christmas."
I have stuck to it and I bet he is going to be a bit surprised when all he has to open tomorrow are a few small things in his stocking ;)

We don't exchange gifts at Christmas. We pretty much get what we want throughout the year, so we don't see a reason to buy more gifts for Christmas. It works for us.

We don't exchange gifts either. We like to spend the money and time on the kids and family. Every now and then, if we see something cute or small that we know the other would love and wouldn't think to get for themselves, we buy it or sometimes we gift ourselves with something for the house like a new TV, but that's it.

We like it this way, it works and when we really need/want something we get it throughout the year.

We are giving each other another disney trip in the new year, probably for the food and wine festival.:goodvibes

So no wrapped presents to each other. We are at the point in our lives where we want to give each other experiences and memories rather than things. We have enough things.:santa:

That said, it doesn't stop us from having a tree full of gifts for our grandchildren and our children and our parents.:rotfl: They still want things... Lots of Things!:rotfl2:
