I voted American Airlines...would always fly with them out of preference but infact we fly with who ever is cheapest so last year travelled with Virgin(who are overated IMHO) into Miami for £220 and this year with BA into Miami for £300. Love cheap prices rather than particular airlines.

If the price was reasonable when we booked i would have gone US Airways

US Airway for us every time. They've treated us very well on all 4 previous trips. We're using them again in a few days time. Ok - so they're not direct - we fly into MCO via Philly - but the in-flight entertainment is great - and if you're lucky enough to be upgraded, their Envoy (business) class is fantastic!

Virgin Atlantic every time for us. I wouldn't even consider an alternative airline.

We are gold Flying Club members so collect lots of miles to get discounted or free flights. In my opinion there is no mid-range service which compares with Premium Econony, and no first-class service which compares with Upper Class Suite. I have always found the service to be exceptional.

Us too - we have done VA & BA and I can't tell the difference myself. The flight is just a means to an end for us :)

I voted Virgin because thats who we flew with last time, but since I voted I took the plunge and booked up with Travel City Direct. They were around £600 cheaper than Virgin. Got to say though since I booked I've read nothing but god awful reviews. It'd be nice if someone could re-assure me.

Stuart,

Always remember people are more likely to moan when they have a bad experience than a good one.

I'll fly anyone who takes me into MCO - Sanford drives me potty and I really do not like that airport.

I do tend to fly those airlines where I can accumulate Air Miles. I flew AA to the States a couple of years ago and really enjoyed having just that bit extra seat pitch in Economy but didn't enjoy paying for my drinks.

I'v enoticed recently that BA and Virgin's prices are usually the same, sometimes I will book with Virgin Holidays if I think it will be cheaper to get the car hire on a fly drive.

If I'm asked to choose though I'd have to say I prefer BA service in Economy and Virgin's service in PE compared to BA's WTPlus

... The legroom in economy is one of the best at 34"...

As I've posted before, this is no longer true of American Airlines. They put back some of the seats they took out to make 'More Room Throughout Coach'. This was done last year and had been completed by the end of the year. The pitch is definitely not 34" anymore.

I remember when Virgin's pitch was 34" too

I voted for BA because I don't travel economy with them, but if I am travelling economy, it's American for me too. There's usually only 2 of us flying and I prefer the 2x5x2 seating configuration.

Virgin for us because they always seem to come out cheapest and I like the seatback tvs and flying into Orlando International instead of sanford (I just feel closer to WDW this way)

Hi, when was this changed, as they still state that on their web site and when I flew with them to New York in February it was still the case?

This is an extract from the email American Airlines sent to me last May:

I am pleased to have this opportunity to explain our decision to add more seats back on our airplanes.
When we introduced our More Room Throughout Coach« product, healthy yields and robust business travel were the norm. ........ Now, however, the marketplace has changed even further. With the record high price of fuel and the continued low fare environment, our More Room Throughout Coach product puts us at a revenue disadvantage to our competitors. ....... However, we will be adding back fewer seats than we initially removed. .... The result is that there will still be more legroom in the coach cabin than there was before February 2000 (when we first began removing seats). ......

On my flight with them 2 weeks ago, I noticed an old 'More Room Throughout Coach' sign still there, but it definitely wasn't the 34" pitch they used to have! Got to say though, it was still a bit better than the Delta flight I took a few months earlier (which was still okay), so it is still probably better than many of the major carriers. I believe the other good one is United Airlines, but I could be wrong since it's a while since I used them.

You might find www.seatguru.com useful for pitches, seating charts etc. Last year it was telling you about AA's decision when the change was in progress but now because it's done (or so I believed) it seems to have been removed.

Thanks for the info, that being the case it may impact on whether I fly with them or not, being partialy disabled I need the legroom.
I have just checked the web site and I agree the advertising for more room has indeed been removed
