Who decided that plaid was cool?!

I love it!!!

Now, are they finally over orange? No one looks good in orange, no matter what other people tell you.

I absolutely LOVE my DBF in orange! It makes his blue eyes really stand out.

I also love plaid. Especially red plaid...for example, this is one of my favourite pairs of shoes:

Stopped dead in my tracks in a store the other day...I swear I saw the exact same skirt I had in the 3rd grade - in 1965!

I wore plaid during four years of Catholic High School - haven't seen THAT particular combo of brown and yellow yet. Seeing that would do MORE than stop me in my tracks! :)

Fortunatley, age allows one to bypass the latest trend...:thumbsup2

You're blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of plaid gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed plaid military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then plaid quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that plaid represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.

Hehe... okay, so I may have changed it a bit. Just subsitute "plaid" for "cerulean". But, well, that's pretty much how it happens :goodvibes

I love plaid, but it's gotta be annoying to want something else and not find it!! Did you try Target? They have such cute kids clothers.

The Devil Wears Prada-much? Lol.

I am mad for plaid!! Its too bad my posterior isn't.

For BTS, plaid is usually really popular with many brands. If you check out the clearance racks, you may find some leftover spring styles, plaid wasn't as popular then. Or, hold out a month or so and we'll start seeing some fallish or winter stuff.

Lol, I've just been through the same thing while shopping for my daughter, 8. Although, I don't mind the plaid (I actually like it) - it's the neon/black/80's look I can't believe is all around. I kept saying, "Do you know that this is the kind of thing that was in when I was in middle school???" :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 I hear you! I don't mind the plaid, but I really don't think I'm old enough to watch styles make a come back. What's next? Tight Rocky, high waisted, no pockets on the butt colored jeans with button down Mo'Betta shirts and big belt buckles?

Penny loafers with the legs of your jeans rolled tight?

Hopefully they'll come up with something new that everyone really likes & looks good in. ;)

My dd does not like the plaid, but it is definately everywhere..... Around here anything with a peace sign seems to be a hit with elementary and middle school aged girls (including my dd):confused3

Plaid is so in right now that I keep having to fight with my 12 yo regarding her flannel shirts... it is 98 degrees and she wants to wear flannel...

ROFL...I had to tell my DS11 "No, you may NOT get a flannel shirt for the first day of school!"....:rotfl:

I really loved those plaid pleated skirts from the early 80s!

DD14 does like plaid and she just got the coolest cell phone cover in shades of pink plaid. She's looking forward to clothes shopping.

It's dangerous to change a Meryl Streep quote. :duck: ;)

Do they even have PURPLE plaid? :confused3

Actually they do, I'm not sure which family it belonged to, but I remember being in a Tartan museum in Pennsylvania, and one of the plaids was purple.

Of course, I like plaid, too. Madras is one of my favorite fabrics: a great combo of light, cool cotton, fun colors, and plaid! (And no, there is no purple in traditional Scottish tartans, but there is plenty of it in Madras, which originated in India.

Madras plaid.. Boy - does that bring back memories for me.. My first two-piece bathing suit when I was a teen (not a "bikini") had a blue madras plaid top and the bottoms were blue denim.. I wish I had kept that bathing suit - it would still fit me today and it was nice and "conservative" - LOL..

DGD (soon to be 12) was all about plaid last year - and is again this year..:goodvibes

As I've said on other threads in regards to fashion and such - sooner or later it comes full circle again..:thumbsup2

Ok i saw the title and had to look. the answer to your question is......

are

you

ready

Canadian Lumberjacks

lol :rotfl:

OH MY... I knew I hated Children's place for a reason .
YUCK!

WOW! I had no idea so many people loved plaid! lol

My older daughter (age 16) said that her little sister can not wear plaid because she is too cute to be a lumberjack. ;)

There was one season where Children's place went neon retro 80s. I was horrified.:lmao:

Sometimes the looks are great and others...not so much.

I don't have issues with plaid though.;) As long as it doesn't look "Revenge of the Nerds-ish" I am good.:thumbsup2

Today, I saw the most adorable plaid skimmers/flats trimmed with ruffles in Payless. The temptation to purchase them was overwhelming but I talked myself out of it (for now). ;)

BTW, they are having a buy one, get 1/2 off sale (until Labor day).
