Who cooks while at WDW ?

definitely fix stuff - but real cooking - no that happens at home - just freeze it here and bring it to Disney.

love fruits and vegetables in florida - they are bigger and definitely taste better - but only if they come from Florida.

(hate vegetables here)

That would be a a no for me. As much as I love cooking, I"m more than happy to let someone else do the cooking for me. That being said, I might order a few groceries next trip since we'll have little ones with us. I figure it would be easier to eat breakfast in the room before heading out to the parks.

When my four kids were younger we did alot of cooking in the room. Back then there was only OKW and we got the larger villas with full kitchen. I actually enjoyed it. We didn't fix anything elaborate, just a simple dinner with a salad or sides, but it was still different from home. There were no baseball games to run to, homework to be done, etc., so we took our time and relaxed. We often ate out on the large patio table. Hubby would sometimes take the kids to swim while I did the prep but more often than not we'd watch a bit of TV, someone would enjoy the jacuzzi, etc.- just hanging out. Those were some of our best vacations where we went from park commandos to being grateful DVC owners who now had time to explore things slowly and savor the relaxation that = vacation.---Kathy

Over a 7 nights vacation we almost always have breakfast in the room. Could be as simple as cereal and bagels or as fancy as eggs and bacon. We usually eat 2 or 3 dinners in the room as well. Could be as simple as a frozen pizza or as fancy as tacos or spaghetti.

In November we are going to really try to cook in the room by making Thanksgiving dinner turkey and all the fixings and then live off of it for the rest of the week. Who knows how it will turn out but we will have fun trying!

Eating in with the little ones is so much less stressful too! Eating out just isn't a pleasure when you have little kids. Not worth the $150 check you get at the end of the meal! We do go out on occasion but try to eat in a few meals each trip. Eating in also allows me to make the veggies I know they'll eat--and a french fry free meal!

Oh yes!! How I miss just being able to eat out and finish a meal without having to entertain or get up and have to take our 2 year old outside because he is getting stir crazy!! lol

And ditto on the veggies. Its always fries (=fat) or rice pilaf (=fat)! I dont mind them once in a while but I like having the ability to make carrots or spinach or zucchini.

Actually, part of the motivating factor of buying into DVC for us was the ability to be able to have some meals in our room. Simple stuff of course. No one in my family wants to cook anything more than hot dogs, hamburgers and spahgetti. But We welcome being able to do that as opposed to dropping so much $ for every danged meal out. :thumbsup2

Me and my friends did this last time. We went to walmart and stocked on snacks and food and stuff. We cooked our meals in there but we did order out one time just to treat ourselves!! I found that to be a lifesaver and moneysaver then a dining plan and eating out every time:cool1:
