Who cooks on vacation?

Count me in as another person who has never turned on the stove in a DVC villa. Cereal, toast for breakfast and snacks and drinks are all the cooking I care to do while on vacation. There are too many wonderful restaurants at WDW for me to want to cook. Also, not to be critical but if you are cooking eggs, bacon, sausage, corned beef hash, pancakes, prepacked meals, etc., these are all things that are very high in salt, cholestrol and fat, so eating in the villa vs the WDW restaurants does not help in these areas. I will agree that eating in your villa can save a ton of money though.

Sometimes we do an easy breakfast...ham,cheese,egg sandwiches...or a bagel and cream cheese or toast. No full meals though.

We always cook while at DVC, but we save one or two nights for special eat-out dinners. It saves money, time, and gives us a chance to relax instead of running out if we're tired. Plus, it helps us keep any potential weight gain from getting out of hand. It's so easy to eat out and gain weight, and I sure can't afford that!!!

NO. I don't cook on vacation because basically I hate to cook. There, I said it.

But my wonderful hubby cooks breakfast and takes full care of the shopping, as he also does as home. We did not make dinner in our room but buy lunch meat and heat up leftovers for snacks. I also buy salad for lunches by the pool.....they don't offer many nutritious and low fat meals by the pools for lunch.

Finally, No I don't cook. :)

And fyi, we order a few trays for Christmas Eve, pick them up on the way home, and I've never been happier.

thanks for all the great responses. sorry i cant give all of you some good recipes. ...........dave.. but I make a damn good home fries......

All most all breakfasts, most lunches and some dinners....we save lots of money...I really like it rather than going out and spending $50 for my picky kids not to eat anything.......

Just returned from 3 nights at BWV (took 13 yr old G-Son ) and of course DH.....I made tacos one eve....sandwichs another and always breadfast (eggs etc...cereal) fruit etc. I thought the prices much higher than in March (anyone else???) When we bought DVC one reason was we would have a kit...we shopped at Publix and Super-Wal=mart(too far a drive I thought) usually do have a dinner at Artist Point or Character dinner if we're there longer..to each his own right?

We also cook most of our meals in. We usually drive so we take a crock pot and throw a roast in with some potatoes and carrots before we leave for the parks and when we come home dinner is ready.
We also use stew beef to make tacos and put that on before we leave.

Cook on vacation?????..............
We don't even cook at home!!!!!!! :teeth:

PS- We do use the coffee maker, fridge, and the nuker.

We have 4 kids - 12, 9, 4 & 3. We always eat breakfast in the room. Cook about half the dinners but I am no chef. We are talking spaghetti, Tacos, Macaroni & Cheese, Salads, sandwiches, and anything that looks good from the frozen food isle. We also buy microwave popcorn and at least a gallon of icecream for in room consumption. I figure I save $400 - $600 per trip. Plus, ever try eating out every night for a week with a 3 & 4 year old.
Merry Christmas to All!

We've never cooked at DVC in 6 years, but we often do have a cold breakfast in the room:D

In 4 years we have not tried cooking yet.We thought the stove was a "prop".We do use the microwave

and the frig.:D

It sounds like we're like most other folks. We use the kitchen mostly for convenience. We usually have coffee, juice and bagels or cereal in the morning. We rarely eat lunch or dinner in the room, but it's great to have snacks and beverages available. Eating out is part of the fun of vacation for us. We don't eat out too often at home, and when we do, it's usually nothing too fancy or exotic. I love having so many different types of dining options at WDW.
