Who convinced you to buy DVC?

  • DVC sales/marketing … Guide, Info booth, Video, Disney-website, Tour?

  • Friends or Family member talked me into it.

  • The gang at disboards.com … We do love to talk DVC!

  • Timeshare resale agent such as the Timeshare Store … Now a word from our sponsor!

  • Don’t remember. It was an impulse buy!

  • Other… Hey you forgot about .... !

It was a combination of factors that contributed to our purchase. This board gave me the confidence to present the idea to my hubby in a logical way. I also read on this board about trying out the resort first. We stayed at Hilton Head paying cash in December of 2001. We both fell in love with the resort. I thought maybe we'd return home and discuss it some more and that I would have an uphill battle convincing my husband. But he agreed to a purchase on the spot. We are now the proud owners of 170 HH points.

This board, our wonderful guide, Jim McCoy who I talked to off and on for nearly a year, my own desire to own a piece of the magic and my hubby finally coming around contributed to our purchase. My only regret is that we did not buy a few more points initially.

We have always been Disney fans. We went to Vero Beach in August 1999 and decided to take the tour. After our guide figured out how much we spent each year to go on vacation and told us we could have purchased DVC with our last 4 vacations, we were sold. It was the best thing we ever did. I wish we had done it sooner. Planning our next vacation starts the day we return.
My only problem is I want more points. We have added on twice already and it is still not enough. :earsboy:

:wave2: I sold myself on a DVC membership after seeing the kiosk's at WDW. We did not take any tours or talk to any rep other than to ask for lit over the phone.:earseek:
The big selling points for us was 1. Location 2. WDW Transportation 3. Cost.:sunny:
:boat: We bought into BWV's (resale), and although I haven't had the opportunity to stay there yet, I am sure we will get our money's worth out of this deal.
June 2004 will be our first visit and we are looking forward to it.:tilt:

Nobody convinced us, but I guess if I had to pick someone it would be Walt Disney himself. I remember being very young and watching Walt talking on TV about EPCOT and how it was going to be a city. (Yes folks, I am OLD!!). I turned to my Mom and told her that someday I would own a piece of the Disney Magic. Well I had to wait for a long time, but as soon as I heard about it, though a firend who read about it in the Wall Street Journal in Feb 1991, we were on it! Thank goodness I married a Disney nut too, although if he wasn't I'm sure I wouldn't have married him. LOL!! There was no question, I don't even remember us discussing it, it was just something we had been waiting for for a long time. Now if we could just buy that apartment in the castle we truly would be all set!!

I had been looking at the promo material for a few years and crunching the numbers constantly. I think the DIS boards pushed me over the edge, but it would have happened eventually anyway--kind of like trying to restrain any addiction--eventually you just cave.

I voted other.... I stumbed across OKW Via the Disney Website when I was planning our family's first trip to WDW. Once we drove onto property we were hooked. Then we pulled right up to our two bedroom unit.... WOW. It sold itself.

The DIS helped me thru the resale process :bounce:

I convinced myself....looked for all the information I needed to make the final decision (which, I'll admit, I got a lot of right here!) and it just makes sense for us. I would have liked to join when I first heard of DVC (1994)...but at that time it wouldn't have worked out well for us. But it was always in the back of my mind. When we reached the point where DVC was a possibility in our future I came here to double check that members were happy with DVC and used DVC's information to see if it was really the best deal financially for us.

But no one ever really sold us on the idea....we heard about it, though it sounded like a great idea, and when the time came we took the steps we needed to be sure we were doing the right thing. And 3 years later we're thrilled with it.
